"Huh?"
Nicholas was a bit confused by Judge's words.
What? Has Germa 66 become so bold these days that they dare to simultaneously fight the Navy and Kaido's Beast Pirates? Even for someone like him, engaging with top-tier forces on the sea was a heavy pressure.
"Hey, Judge, haven't seen you for a few days and you're already daring enough to take on the Beasts and the Navy?"
Nicholas said teasingly.
"Nicholas, are you joking? How could I dare to fight those monsters?"
Judge's voice was filled with bitterness. He had received intelligence about the Beast Pirates and the Navy entering the North Blue long ago. Initially, he thought the Beast Pirates were retreating to the North Blue to recuperate after being driven out of Wano Country by the Whitebeard Pirates in the New World. As for the Navy, they were likely there to monitor Kaido and prevent him from doing anything irrational.
The Four Seas and the first half of the Grand Line were considered the Navy and World Government's backyard, and they couldn't allow a dangerous figure like Kaido to cause trouble there.
But Judge never expected that the Beast Pirates were actually targeting him. Moreover, the Navy had somehow learned about the technology in Germa that Kaido desperately wanted.
Determined not to let the Beast Pirates gain more power, or perhaps also coveting Germa 66's technology, including the clone soldiers, the Navy launched an attack on Germa 66. Germa 66 was caught off guard and suffered heavy losses.
If not for the intense conflict between the Beast Pirates and the Navy, Germa 66 might have already been annihilated.
"Alright, I got it. I'll come as soon as possible," Nicholas said before hanging up the Den Den Mushi.
To him, Germa 66 was like a strategic pawn he had planted in the North Blue, so he didn't want anything to happen to them. Moreover, if either the Navy or the Beasts obtained Germa's technology, their power would significantly increase, which Nicholas couldn't allow. According to the famous theory of relativity, if the enemy gets stronger, it indirectly weakens you.
With this in mind, Nicholas took out his Den Den Mushi and made a call.
...
The night was deep.
On a remote island, a loud cry suddenly broke the silence, startling a large number of News Coo. The employees inside the mobile news agency located in the center of the island were puzzled, watching as Morgans rushed out of his office, visibly excited. They didn't understand what major event had occurred to make their boss so thrilled.
Neither the recent wars in Wano Country nor the conflict involving the Navy, Beast Pirates, and Germa 66 in the North Blue had excited Morgans this much.
But once they learned what had happened, the entire staff became as excited as Morgans.
"Boss, is the information reliable?"
"This is big news!"
"I can't believe the World Government launched a Buster Call on Ohara. What did those scholars do?"
"The real story should be that the Buster Call was repelled! This is the first time since the Rocks Pirates that anyone has defeated a Buster Call head-on!"
"Everyone knows the Buster Call isn't invincible against top-tier forces. If it were that terrifying, the emperors of the New World would have been wiped out long ago. Still, it's known as the World Government's ultimate weapon, so this news will definitely explode."
The staff of the mobile news agency engaged in intense discussion. For them, nothing was more thrilling than breaking a huge story.
"Everyone, it looks like we'll be pulling an all-nighter again."
"Boss, it's not like we aren't always pulling all-nighters."
Someone couldn't help but joke. For the employees of the World Economic News, it seemed like every day was an all-nighter. The sea was so vast and turbulent, with events happening constantly. They needed to gather information from around the world and decide what to publish.
The headline decided just a moment ago could be replaced by a breaking event the next moment.
However, the staff had no complaints. Like the pirates chasing after the grand treasure on the sea, they had their own pursuits.
Morgans, pleased with his staff's enthusiasm, raised the latest intelligence in his wing-like hands and said solemnly, "The world is on the brink of great change, and we are destined to leave a significant mark in history as its chroniclers!"
"Clap clap clap!"
The employees burst into enthusiastic applause, clearly invigorated by the inspiring words.
"Alright, everyone, get to work! Only by publishing the most exciting news of this era can we earn our place in history!"
After encouraging his team, Morgans turned to head back to his office, where he had plenty of work to do.
"Boss."
Just as Morgans was about to leave, an unfamiliar voice called out to him. Following the sound, Morgans saw it was one of the less remarkable and underperforming employees of the news agency.
"What's the matter?"
Morgans frowned at the employee standing before him, his head bowed and hat pulled low. Despite his irritation, Morgans asked patiently.
The employee stepped closer and lowered his voice, "There's something I need to discuss with you privately."
"Hmm? If it's about news, you should talk to your editor. Overstepping like this isn't welcome in my agency."
Morgans was displeased, waving his wing-like hand dismissively. Skipping over the chain of command was never appreciated in any organization.
"But this is something the editor can't handle. I can only bring it to you."
The employee's tone suddenly turned cold, and when he looked up, his eyes were filled with icy resolve.
Meeting the employee's cold gaze, Morgans felt a sudden shock. The employee then drew a gun from his waist.
"Morgans, this event must not be made public!"
The employee spoke icily, pointing the gun at Morgans. Clearly, the World Government didn't want any news damaging their reputation to get out.
"You... another CP agent? You guys just won't leave me alone, will you?"
Morgans quickly grasped the situation, recalling the previous attack on his headquarters. He was both alarmed and furious.
"Do you think I'll fall for the same trick twice?"
A cunning glint flashed in Morgans' eyes.
Sensing the threat, the CP agent didn't hesitate to pull the trigger. His mission took precedence over Morgans' life.
"Bang!"
"Boom!"
Two sounds rang out, one after the other. A figure suddenly appeared in front of Morgans, blocking the bullet.
Realizing the danger, the CP agent tried to flee, but Morgans wasn't about to let him go.
"Take him down!"
At Morgans' command, another figure sprang from the side and struck the CP agent in the spine. Blood blossomed from the agent's back as he collapsed to the floor, paralyzed.
The gunfire startled the busy staff, who all stopped working and looked in shock at Morgans and the incapacitated CP agent on the ground.
"Boss?!"
"What happened?!"
The sudden commotion left everyone bewildered.
"Nothing major, just a small issue. Keep working; tomorrow's news is very important and must be flawless!"
Morgans reassured his staff and then approached the CP agent, coldly looking down at him.
As Morgans stood over him, the paralyzed CP agent looked up with difficulty, meeting Morgans' icy gaze.
"Morgans... and the World Economic News Agency... are you really going to oppose the World Government? Have you considered the consequences..."
The CP agent's voice was weak and broken.
"Idiot. Talking about opposing the World Government... After your repeated attacks on me, do you expect me to trust them?"
Morgans replied coldly. If it hadn't been for the high-level bodyguards he hired, things might have gone differently.
As the king of information, Morgans had built a vast network capable of delivering newspapers worldwide. His ability to gather and disseminate information made him a force to be reckoned with among the underground powers. The bribes from those who wished to avoid the spotlight only added to his substantial wealth, enabling him to maintain his extensive network.
Having realized the World Government's intent to target him, Morgans had strengthened his security.
Looking at the CP agent with a "you're done for" expression, Morgans spoke firmly:
"I may be a money-grubber, but don't forget I'm also a journalist! Remember, the contents of my newspaper are for me to decide! I am the news king, Morgans!"
"You...!"
The CP agent's eyes widened in disbelief at Morgans' defiance.
Bang!
Blood splattered as a bullet hole appeared in the agent's forehead. His expression remained one of incredulity.
"I have a feeling we're on the brink of an unprecedented new era. The world order might be on the verge of dramatic change. How could I, Morgans, miss out on such a grand era?"
Morgans tossed the gun onto the CP agent's corpse, raising his wings passionately.
