At sea

Carl had already set off back towards the country of Ylati after spending some time in the country of Achin.

Carl went into his cabin and opened a guidebook on Haki and Rokushiki.

He took a black cloth, tied it around his eyes like a character from an anime. He did this to train his Kenbun Haki. Actually, he wanted to use Haoshoku Haki, but he knew only special people could unlock that. But he was confident he could unlock Haoshoku Haki.

Coming out of the cabin, he attracted the attention of his subordinates with the cloth. They wanted to ask, but decided not to after seeing Carl walking normally. So, they continued their activities.
