Cocoyasi Village & Loguetown

Viper fell off the small boat that had just crashed into a tree and said "Fucking sea cow." Sanji said "Next time I see that thing I'm gonna cook it." Luffy hopped off the ship and said "Shishishishi that was fun!" Viper and Sanji snapped "NO IT WASN'T!" Viper sighed and grabbed his bag of devil fruits and took them out and sat on the ground, he opened the fruit book and checked. Viper mumbled "Tree-Tree fruit, and the Monkey zoan." he rubbed his chin and mumbled "Not the best fruits, would be good for initial experiments..." Sanji looked at Viper mumbling to himself and shook his head "Luffy where did you get this mad scientist?" Luffy blinked and said "With Zoro." as he pointed to Zoro, who was collapsed on the ground.

Viper put the fruits back in the bag along with the book and went into the boat and grabbed the box of fruits, lost in thought. He came back to his senses when he heard Johnny's voice "Nami killed Ussop!" Viper was shocked and Johnny continued "She was working for Arlong the whole time! She killed Ussop I saw it!" Luffy grabbed him and said "Don't say that! Nami would never do that we'r friends!" everybody turned when they heard Nami's voice "Who's your friend?"

Luffy turned around and said "Tell him Nami! You didn't kill Ussop!" Nami sneered and said "I did." Viper choked and poked Zoro and said "Remember when she told us she tied Luffy up?" Zoro smirked and Viper chuckled, Nami continued "He's at the bottom of the ocean, if you want to go find him." She took a breath before saying "You can't do anything here just leave! I'm not coming back with you guys!" Luffy fell on his back and Nami said "What are you doing?" Luffy said "I'm going to sleep, I'm not leaving this island without you so I guess i'll just go to sleep." Nami snapped "Fine! Do what you want!" before leaving in a huff, Viper shook his head and said "Did she forget I'm part snake?" Luffy said "What do you mean?" Viper said "She had a glove on, it was covered in the smell of blood, her own blood." Luffy said "So Ussop's alive?" Viper said "I guess so." Sanji said "See mosshead? I told you Nami wouldn't kill long nose." Zoro said "Whatever love-cook" Viper just chuckled.

Ussop came running towards the group and said "Hey guys! I think I'm a ghost!" Viper slammed his head against a tree before saying "I'm gonna make you a real ghost if you don't shut up! Tell us why you're alive?" Ussop explained that Nami stabbed herself and pushed him into the water. The group nodded and Ussop said "I think she has a reason to be in Arlong's crew!" Luffy said "So we just go kick Arlong's ass?" a voice was heard "It's useless you can't beat Arlong." everybody turned to see a blue haired woman, Ussop said "Nojiko?" Nojiko continued "You should just leave the island, I'll tell you why she's in his crew, you'll want to leave after you hear it." Luffy said "I'll pass, I don't care about her past. I'm going for a walk." Viper asked "Do you know where our ship is?" Nojiko said "It's that way." she pointed in a direction and Viper nodded and said "I don't really care either, i'll see you guys later." he transformed, grabbed the bag of devil fruits and the box of normal fruits and followed after Luffy.

Viper was slithering in the direction Nojiko pointed in, with Luffy sitting on his head. He got to the Merry and put his bag and box on the deck and went back into town. Luffy and Viper came across Nami stabbing herself in the shoulder saying "Arlong" over and over again, Luffy patted Viper's snout and Viper lowered his head, Luffy slipped off and landed in front of Nami.

Nami said "Get out of here! Leave me alone!" Luffy and Viper were just staring at her, she started crying and said "Please.. help me.." Luffy put his hat on her head and said "Of course we will." Nami looked up and saw Luffy and Viper smiling at her, Viper licked her face and lifted them both on top of his head, as he slithered towards Arlong Park.

The trio arrived at Arlong park and Zoro said "Took you long enough." Viper said "We had to pick up a thief." Zoro smirked and Luffy jumped down from Viper's head and kicked the gate to Arlong park open and said "Which one of you is Arlong?" A big fishman with a long saw like nose said "I'm Arlong." Luffy punched him in the face sending him flying into a wall and said "You made my navigator cry!"

Viper and the rest smirked, as Nami cried. Viper put her down and followed after Luffy with Zoro, Sanji, and Ussop. The fishmen were incensed and charged at Luffy, Viper slammed his tail into them, sending them all flying, only three fishmen and Arlong were left, an octopus, a fishman with a long mouth, and a fishman with two pony tails. Zoro said "You took out most of them what are we supposed to do now?" Viper rolled his eyes and said "What do you want from me? I'm a giant monster." Sanji chuckled, and Ussop said "You can take out the rest if you want."

The octopus said "It's him! The swordsman I gave a ride to!" Arlong said "What can you inferior creatures do?" the octopus said "That's right we don't need to do anything!" he called out to the sea and a giant sea cow appeared, Viper said "Look I have an opponent too!" Viper slammed his tail at the sea cow, sending it flying over the crowd of people before he followed after it saying "Hurry up and beat the rest!" and he disappeared.

Viper chased after the sea cow and they started fighting, Viper send a wind blast at the cow and it tried to bite at him, he sighed and said "Why do I have to fight the cow.." he slammed his tail on the ground and jumped in the air before biting into the sea cows neck. The sea cow cried out "MOOOO" and rolled around, Viper let go and spit out the blood in his mouth, and slammed his tail into the cow, sending it flying over the water and disappearing, he watched it go and said "Boring." before sighing and going back.

He got back to Arlong Park and saw Luffy slam his foot through the roof of the building, causing the building to collapse. Luffy stood in the rumble and said "Nami! You're my friend!" Nami cried and Viper smiled and reverted back to his human form. The villagers started cheering that Arlong park was destroyed, when everyone heard a voice "Oh great! Now I can call in that I took down the Arlong pirates and get a promotion!" everybody turned to look at the man and Viper said "Who is THIS guy?" Nami said "He's the marine who tried to steal all my money." Viper nodded and transformed and slammed his tail into the guy and the other marines who were with him, sending them flying before transforming back and saying "Well that was easy."

Days later

The crew was ready to leave the island and were waiting for Nami, Viper was reading the devil fruit books to see if he could find any fruits that would be useful, when he heard the villagers start screaming, he looked up and saw Nami running through the crowd and jump on the boat before lifting her shirt causing wallets to fall out. Nami turned around and said "See ya everyone!" the villagers cursed at her before they started saying bye. Viper walked up and took all the money out of the wallets and put it all in his pocket before going back to reading, Nami said "Why did you do that?" Viper looked at her and said "I need money for lab equipment and I'd rather not have 300% interest rates." he sighed and counted the money and said "Although this is definitely not enough. Any chance you have loan packages?" Nami giggled and shook her head, Viper sighed and said "Yeah, I didn't think so."

The crew was on their way to Loguetown, and Nami was paying for the paper, she said "It costs more now?" Ussop said "It's only a little bit more, what's the big deal?" Nami said "When you pay for it everyday, it adds up!" She paid the seagull and opened the newspaper, two papers fell out, she picked them up and gasped, everyone looked at her and Viper said "What now? The value of beri dropped?" Nami glared at him and said "It's bounty posters." she held up the two posters and Luffy looked at them and said "Cool! I have a bounty!" Viper was still reading his book and said "Who else? Zoro?" Nami said "No, you." Viper looked up and grabbed the poster "Would you look at that." the poster was him, from shoulders up standing next to Nami, with a bored look on his face. Viper grimaced "Feathered Serpent? That's not cool at all." Zoro laughed and Viper snapped "Still better than not having one at all" Zoro glared at him and Viper gave him the finger, Nami snapped "You shouldn't want one!" before slumping in her chair and pinching the bridge of her nose, as the ship sailed on.

A few days later

The crew finally landed at Loguetown. Viper said "Oi, Nami I need money." Nami gave him money and said "Here's 3 million." Viper hesitated to touch it and said "What's the interest rate?" Nami smiled and said "Not that much" Viper let out a breath of relief and grabbed the money, Nami finished "Only 200%" Viper almost cried "It's over, I touched it i'm finished, I'll be in debt the rest of my life." Nami giggled and handed out money to the rest of the crew and they all separated.

Viper was walking with Ussop and stopping him from buying obvious fake goods. Viper asked a random person on the street "Excuse me sir, do you know where I can find a gadget or equipment shop around here?" The man turned around and had a black and red hat on with around 20 guns on his body and said "If you go around the corner and follow the street, there should be one there for both." Viper smiled and said "Thank you." before he walked off with Ussop in tow. The man scratched his head and said "I could've sworn i've seen that kid before.." he unrolled a paper and sighed "I must be getting old."

Viper and Ussop walked into the shop and the old man behind the counter said "Welcome!" Viper smiled and said "Hello, I wanted to know if you had any equipment for experiments and tinkering? If possible I would like beakers, heat plates, test tubes..." Viper listed a ton of different things and the old man behind the counter gave him a look and said "I've got all that stuff and more." the man dragged a box out from behind the counter and opened it, revealing everything Viper asked for along with more rare tools and special tempered glass containers, Viper raised an eyebrow and said "Why do you have all this stuff old man?" the old man said "A long time ago someone came to this very town and asked for the same exact things, when he came back he brought all new models and another gift, i've kept them for some time now." Viper was intrigued and said "Who was it?" the old man said "I think he said his name was Vegapunk?" Viper's eyes widened and he said "The genius scientist Vegapunk?!" the old man said "He said Vegapunk for sure, I don't know about genius scientist but he sure was nice." Viper said "You ever see him after that?" the old man sighed and shook his head "I haven't seen him for years now, I sometimes wonder how he's doing." Viper said "Actually old man, he has become the best scientist in the world. Some people say his scientific knowledge is 500 years ahead of the rest of the world." the old man smiled and said "When he first came in here he was about your age, he had the same look in his eyes, sure does bring back memories." Viper smiled and said "I won't take this memento from you old man, just get me some older equipment." the old man shook his head and said "There's no need, I want you to have it, it's been collecting dust with me, who knows if I give it to you maybe I'll hear about you too someday." Viper was shocked and said "You're giving this to me old man?! That's a lot of money, how about I just pay you for it." he took out his money, and the old man stopped him "There's no need it wasn't for sale, my shop will be fine even if you take it for free." Viper sighed and said "Then i'll thank you old man, someday I will pay you back I promise." Viper picked up the box and turned around to walk out, the old man said "Oh, and take this too." he gave Viper another smaller box, Viper said "What's this old man?" the old man shook his head and said "I have no idea, it was a gift from the same man, but I never opened it." Viper smiled and put it on top of his box and said "Thank you old man, i'll see you around!" before he left the shop with Ussop.

Viper and Ussop walked around and found another shop that had more equipment, Viper said "We have the science supplies but we still need Goggles and mechanic equipment, this place should have the rest." Viper and Ussop walked in. A few minutes later Ussop and Viper walked out and Ussop was holding a big box and Viper had scientist goggles on the top of his head and a lab coat on with his kimono on top of it, he looked like a mad scientist, Ussop said "Was the lab coat necessary?" Viper frowned and said "Of course it was. You can't be a scientist without a lab coat, don't you know?" Ussop shook his head and said "You really look crazy you know that?" Viper waved him off and said "I do not. I look fine, watch." Viper walked up to a woman on the street and said "Excuse me ma'am can you point me in the direction of the docks please" the woman looked at Viper and jumped before saying "Ah a mad scientist!" and running away, Ussop started laughing and Viper felt a vein pop up on his forehead.

The duo reached the Merry and put all their things in the room that would be their lab, Viper got his bag of devil fruits and put them in a chest he bought and locked it, before putting it under a desk. Viper and Ussop set up Viper's lab equipment and Ussop's inventing equipment and when they were finished it looked like a professional lab, Viper and Ussop high fived and Viper said "There's only the gift from the old man left" Ussop said "Should we open it? I was a gift for the old man after all." Viper frowned and said "Yeah but he gave it to us." Ussop nodded and Viper opened the box revealing a devil fruit. Viper and Ussop were shocked, Ussop said "What fruit is it?" Viper opened the book and flipped through pages before saying "The cloud-cloud fruit. Logia, capable of creating clouds of any type." Viper blinked and said "Wow, that's pretty lucky." Ussop nodded and Viper put it back into the box, wrote 'CLOUD' on it and put it into the chest with the rest of the fruits and said "We should ask Nami if she'll just eat it instead of using it on a weapon." before locking the chest and putting it back, Ussop nodded and Viper said "Are you going to stay with the ship? I want to go find everyone else." Ussop said "Yeah i'll stay here and make sure we got everything." Viper nodded and left.

Viper was walking alone in the streets with his goggles and lab coat, which had his kimono on top of it, and bumped into Sanji, carrying a giant fish. Viper said "Woah, where did you get that?!" Sanji said "I won it, where did you get the goggles and lab coat?" Viper said "I bought em." Sanji nodded and said "And you didn't buy a shirt?" Viper said "Gets in the way when I transform." Sanji bought it and walked back to the Merry, Viper continued on and mumbled "Maybe I should leave the lab coat in the lab next time..."

Viper found himself in the square with the execution platform, he looked up and saw Luffy was locked in place with a wooden board and Buggy was standing above him with a sword. Buggy said "Any last words Straw hat?!" Luffy said "I'M GOING TO BE KING OF THE PIRATES!" the crowd was shocked and Buggy laughed as he swung his sword down, Luffy said "Viper, Zoro, Sanji, Ussop, Nami!" he had a big smile and said "I'm sorry, I died!" everyone's jaws dropped and lightning struck down on the platform.

Luffy got up and put his hat back on and said "Wow! I'm still alive!" Viper smirked and transformed before scooping Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji up and slithering away, while the marines chased after them. Viper was heading towards the Merry as fast as he could when a man just a jutte stood in their path. Viper whipped his tail at him, making a wind blast and whipping his head, sending Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji flying over the marine, Viper hissed and circled around the man with the jutte blocking his path and saying "Excuse me sir, I thought you were already fighting me." the man stabbed his jutte forward, and Viper slid out of the way and whipped his tail towards the man, but his tail passed right through the man, Viper said "Logia?" The man nodded and said "Smoke-smoke fruit." Viper said "My name is Viper." the man said "Smoker." Viper nodded and said "I'll remember" before he smashed his tail into the ground, creating a cloud of dust and shooting off towards the Merry. Viper slammed his tail into the ground again and shot into the air, and changed mid-air back to his human form and landed on the Merry and said "GO!" and the Merry set sail, leaving Loguetown and Smoker behind. Viper sat on the deck and let out a breath of relief, before slumping to the ground and saying "What a joke, who puts a logia in the weakest sea."

The Merry was sailing towards the grandline and Viper called everyone in to the kitchen, everyone sat down and Viper put a box labeled 'CLOUD' on the table, in front of everyone. Viper said "While me and Ussop were getting supplies a nice old man gave us this." he opened the box and revealed the devil fruit, Viper continued and said "I've checked and it is the cloud-cloud fruit. A logia, it makes whoever eats it able to create, control, and become clouds." the crew all looked at the fruit and Viper said "I want to say this is a very powerful fruit, you can't be hit by normal attacks unless you have Haki, or seastone. I don't know what Haki is, that's just what it said in the book, but seastone is a stone that is basically like the sea in a solid form." Viper took a deep breath and said "I want to know if any of you wanted it, specifically Nami." Viper said "I also wanted to share with you guys that I found it and see what you thought of me using it for research, and potentially making a weapon eat it." Luffy said "I don't care, I can't eat it anyway." Sanji exhaled a mouthful of smoke and said "I don't need it." Zoro said "Neither do I." Ussop just shook his head and Viper turned to Nami and said "You will lose your ability to swim and the sea and everything else I mentioned will weaken you. Ultimately it is your choice." Nami said "Can you really make a weapon eat it?" Viper thought for a bit and said "With enough research and time, theoretically yes, but you would get the power right away, instead of waiting and I don't know the effects of a weapon eating it." Nami was silent and Viper added "It can control and create any type of cloud, for example thunder clouds, rain clouds, etc." Nami shook her head and said "I don't want it, but if you can put it into a staff that would be great." Viper was surprised and said "Are you sure? I don't know the effects it would have on a weapon." Nami nodded and smiled and said "I trust you'll find a way to make it work." Viper smiled and said "I will.. eventually." before he closed the box and said "I won't be using it for a while until I know that the fruits can be put into weapons so if you change your mind, it'll still be there." he grabbed the box and walked out saying "I'll be in the lab!"

Viper walked back into the lab and hung his kimono on a chair and put the box back into the chest and took out the bag with the other two fruits, before locking the chest. Ussop walked in and said "How are you going to start?" Viper sighed and said "To be honest with you, I don't have the slightest clue, I was thinking of the simplest approach." Ussop was puzzled and Viper grabbed a sword and stabbed it into the money fruit. Ussop's eyes widened and said "Really?" Viper chuckled and put the sword into a glass container and looked at the other fruit and said "I think it's safe to assume that we don't want lifeless objects to contain and lifeless power. Which means we're going to have to create a primitive sentience within the object before attempting to fuse with a devil fruit." Viper rubbed his chin and walked over to Ussop's table and grabbed some metals and wires before taking out the rod and going to an empty table and sitting down. Ussop shrugged and went back to tinkering.

Viper was melting wires and putting together a simple machine, he looked up and said "Did you get the transponder snails?" Ussop nodded and handed him one, the transponder snail was dried up and dead, Viper frowned and cracked the dead snail's shell in half before walking out and throwing the snail without a shell, into the ocean and returning. He looked inside the snail's shell and noticed intricate patterns and wires and frowned, he mumbled to himself "How do they connect with out advanced machinery?" Viper said "Video snail, and phone snail.. preferably alive this time please." Viper got both and put them together and asked "Did you get modifications done?" the snails nodded and Viper frowned and said "You weren't born like that?" the snails blinked and nodded again, Viper sighed and rubbed his temples and asked "Were you born with the ability to telepathically communicate with other snails?" the snails nodded, Viper wrote it down in a book and said "Can you communicate with any type of snail?" the snails shook their heads, Viper said "Only same type?" they nodded and Viper wrote it down and asked "Did someone break open your shells to put wires inside?" the snails nodded and Viper grabbed the phone snail and flipped it over and looked at the back and saw two plug holes, he did the same to the video snail and saw the plug holes as well, he put them down and said "If I want to make somewhat smart robots I need a machine..." Viper grabbed what he was working on before and started tinkering with it again.
