( Douglas' Pov )

" Ah, where am I?" I asked myself as I woke up in pain. My whole body was wrapped around in bandages from top to bottom. I could barely move my body without being in pain.

' Is this a ship?' I moved my head around noticing the room I was in was rather small for a hospital. And looked more like the inside of a ship.

" If I were you, I wouldn't move your body around." I heard someone say from my left side. I turned my head with great difficulty. And there I saw Achilles sitting down on a stool looking very tired. He had dark shadows under his eyes looking like he didn't get any sleep, making me wonder how long I slept for.

" You had 8 bullets, one which was about 12 centimeters away from your heart. A piece of metal from your armor saved you from the bullet. You're lucky to be alive from that, you know? Besides that, you also had three broken ribs and multiple fractures."

" It took me the whole day and night to make sure you wouldn't die. So I would appreciate it if you stayed in bed for a couple of days." Achilles said to me standing over me in a stern voice.

" Why did you save me?"

" I don't have a purpose anymore."

" Being the perfect soldier was everything to me. And now I can't even be that anymore." I said to him in a pathetic voice. I said to myself if I survived I would let my name echo around the world for my absolute strength. But would that satisfy my heart?

" Why did I save you?"

" Isn't that already obvious?"

" Since that first day I met you, I told you, you were gonna be the first mate of my crew no matter what. And what kind of Captain lets his first mate die just like that?"

" Are you still going on about that crap about me joining your crew?" I said to him coughing a little in pain. Although it made me feel a little happy that I was needed by someone.

" You thought I was joking all this time? I have been waiting for more than 3 years to recruit you. And now you're not about to reject me right?" Achilles said to me or perhaps to himself in a mocking tone.

" No… I'll join your crew. I don't have anywhere else to go." I said in a soft voice making up my mind. Achilles has saved my life twice now, so this is also my way of paying him for everything he did for me.

"Let's goooo!." Achilles shouted in joy after hearing what I said.

" Welcome to the crew buddy! You have no clue how long I've been waiting for this." Achilles said putting his right hand in front of me for a fist bump which I returned with my bandaged arm.

As Achilles and I continued talking about the crew and how many other members they are, there was a huge storm setting off on the island of Galzburg.

[ Galzburg's Castle ]

( 3rd Person Pov )

" What do you mean you couldn't locate Douglas Bullet?" A middle-aged man with blonde hair with a small goatee. This man named Lewis Galz is the current king of Galzburg.

" My lord, from the information we have received from the surviving members of the war, a child around Douglas's age with green hair saved him and took him away. The only thing we know is that he's Douglas pirate Captain or at least that's what the child said." One of Lewis' subordinates quickly said in fear of getting killed as he was the one overseeing the death of Douglas Bullet and he had failed.

" So Douglas decided to become a pirate, this saves us the trouble of trying to find him. Call Marine Headquarters, tell them I want two bounties set out for Douglas Bullet and his Captain."

" Bullet must not be allowed to live, you understand?" Lewis ordered sitting down rubbing his forehead.

" Yes, my lord, it will be done."

[ Four Hours Later ]

(Achilles' POV)

" Here's Gray," I said to Bullet as we were inside the ship's only prison room. It had room for only 2 prisoners but it was better than nothing.

Inside the prison cell was Gray with his hands and legs chained up. I didn't feed him anything as I just left him here so he looked in pretty bad shape. I brought Gray back to the ship with Bullet since I wanted him to deal with his father figure. And this way I can truly show Bullet, I care for him other than just wanting him for his strength.

" I'll leave it to you," I said, leaving a pistol in Bullet's hand before I left the room.

" Bullet, listen I didn't want to kill you!"

" You have to believe me! It was King Lewis who ordered me." Gray cried with tears knowing if he can convince Bullet, he can be free once more.

" It doesn't matter. I once thought of you as my own father, and yet you betrayed me from some promotion. As for the King, I will deal with him in the future." Bullet said, bringing the pistol to Gray's head. Whilst he sounded stoic you could see tears rolling down his face as well.

" Y-y-you can't do this! I raised you." Gray shouted in a futile attempt to convince Bullet not to kill him.

" And for that, you have my gratitude," Bullet said before firing the pistol. Tears slowly fell from his face as he looked at the dead corpse of the man who raised him since he was a baby.

' Achilles, I'm entrusting my future to you.'
