Occasional Signals in the Aromantic Worldwatcher's Universe Line

There are countless worlds in the cosmos unaware of the existence of others, worlds that are unconscious of the bitter realities, worlds that cannot exist beyond the confines of the universe themselves. However, there also exists those who have, in pure coincidence, possess this knowledge, civilizations that have comprehended infinity and existence—the worldwatchers. Nevertheless, they have realized themselves to be deplorably impotent, and thus have resolved to become “guardians” or “keepers” of universal intelligence. Others, on the other hand, still believe that they could do more. In a world with otherworldly, primordial mirrors, Ceris: Examination…evaluation…and ready… Ceris: … (radio noises) Ceris: One and all, worlds at large, sending my signal. This is the universe line. Does anyone hear me? In a world of eternal night and glinting blue crystals, Morpho: … Morpho: Obstinate. When the sea of stars came to light, Morpho: You… Morpho: What is it that you truly wish? Ceris: There is no other reason. Only that I wish to receive a signal. The universe is vast, this is the cosmos of the teller, but me, an aromantic worldwatcher, and you…we deserve to tell the story of these worlds.

"Testing, testing, examining the portals…"

"..."

"...Why won't this start?"

"..."

"...Oh, there is just a bit of malfunction here."

There was a brief moment before a click was heard.

"Good."

A brief minute occurred before the audio was adjusted.

"Universe Line 02385, ready for communication."

"One and all, worlds at large, this is Universe Line 02385. I hope that you are all doing well no matter the case…"

There was another brief pause before the speaker continued.

"As with all my previous attempts, I will tell you only three things."

"..."

"First, my name is Ceris. I am a messenger."

"..."

"Second, your worlds will experience disaster or conflict in these specific times:..."

The speaker began with the first world and the disaster they may face. Then came the next and the next and the next and the next and all the other countless nexts. They spoke for a long time without stopping as if the words had already been etched deep into the bone and memorized by the heart.

It was not known how long exactly but it was a very long time before the speaker finished.

However, what no one would know is that, for the listener, only the fate of their world would be heard.

"..."

"Third,..."

"...the fate of your world is set in the stars."

And in an unknown amount of time that the speaker talked, it would only take a second of delay for them to hear the third thing.

The speaker sighed.

"However, it is true when I tell you that this is likely to be changed. This simple idea of you knowing about your future must have already made you more aware. This is good. But it is better to speak to me."

"If you hear this, please establish communication. I will provide assistance whenever I can. I will tell you my name again. It is Ceris. However, if this does not fare, you can also think of "Morpho," which may remind you of a midnight butterfly, with the brightest color of blue."

"Please. Please remember these two names. This line is compatible with all servers whether technology, magic, telepathy, a dream sequence, or any other means you wish to communicate. You must remember these names in order to communicate with the line."

"Universe Line 02385. Ceris. Morpho."

"Number: 02385"

"Name: UL W736983"

"Location: Everywhere."

"Time: Forever."

The speaker stopped speaking before the signal was cut off.

In a cloaked ship floating in space, there was no movement inside.

All communication lines were open and a figure with a head full of short silver hair streaked with pale red was staring closely at it.

After a long while, seeing that there was nothing happening, the figure sighed and moved again. It was then that the door to the "universe line" space ship was opened.

"Do you plan to open it again?"

The figure looked to the door where the voice spoke.

"Maybe." As the figure said this, they opened the communication line.

The 'person' who entered the door approached the panel.

"Reaper…Morpho…"

"I have not been a reaper for a very long time. I do not know why you still refer to me as that."

"It fits you."

The figure in front of the panel smiled and moved to turn off the communication line. However, the other 'person' spoke.

"How about you talk about something different today?"

The figure looked at the 'person' called "Morpho." "What do you mean?"

"A podcast. About the worlds with the ambience of a pink sky or the ones with pure ethers or the gloominess of rain in a dark storm ."

Ceris smiled at Morpho.

"You are curious of skies other than black?"

"..."

"No."

Morpho looked out the window. Outside the space station, there were countless celestial bodies undergoing numerous chemical processes in the distance.

"They just give the same sense of feeling, even with empty black skies."
