It was the day of one of the most important days for a teenager, the sophomore year party everyone was so eager to go people already had made plans and many teenagers gathered in the park to talk more details of what's going to go down, this party was a tradition everyone needed to attend it was compulsory after all. Marcel Jackson wasn't a people's person let alone really good with people skills.
Marcel was considered to be the weird one in his whole school, the kid never missed a day in school he had the perfect attendance record, he was pretty smart too but he was suffering from anxiety and that was just one of the few health problems he faced with. He suffered from every kind of disease that you can think of, obviously it wasn't the case all of these things were just in his head.
"You are coming to the sophomore year party right Marcellus?" A boy brushed Marcel's hair as he joined him.
Marcel was sitting in the park bench far away from the rest of the uneasy and restless teenagers, everyone else in the park was settled in groups some were talking, others laughing and others playing their own dance show. Of course he didn't fit in that bunch.
"Do I really have to go? You know I still have to know all of my calculus book before we go back to school" Marcel sounded serious.
"You know it's amazing how you already have half the school books, which we haven't received yet and yes you have to go, it's the party of the centuries" The boy tried to convince him.
The boy who was sitting with Marcel was Noah and he was the only living person that Marcel would dare call his friend, apart from his math equations which he would kill someone if they ever gave the wrong solution.
"You do know that there's still another party next year, right? And the year after that?" Marcel said.
"Yeah but take it like that Jewish birthday day where a clueless kid somehow skipped all the teenage years and become a adult in just thirteen years. Thirteen!" Noah responds.
"It's called a bat mitzvah, and didn't you have yours like three years ago?" Marcel asked with confusion.
"Not the point" Noah looks at the time, "sheesh! Would you look at that it's about to be party time" Noah gets up, "we are going to that party right?" He looks at Marcel who by the face expression was looking for an excuse to come up with, "Right Marcellus?" He insisted.
"Sure" Marcel answered with low enthusiasm.
Noah runs to catch up with the last group that was now also leaving the park, Marcel sat for a little longer then after they were nowhere to be seen he followed and went home.
He got home and found a letter on the fridge from his mother it reads 'got called again at the hospital, food is on the fridge I guess I'll see you when you come back from school tomorrow, don't forget to lock up the doors and windows love you lots'
In just thirty minutes before the party even begins, Marcel hasn't done anything that would show preparation for going, he was in his cow printed black and white onesie and reading a book about calculus. His phone receives a message.
'dude get out of your pyjamas and let's go to the party' a message from Noah, another message pops up 'and oh put down that calculus book, spoiler alert it has more equations'
How did Noah know what he was doing? Marcel looked all around the house hoping that maybe he'll burst out wherever Noah's hiding, but there wasn't anyone there. Turned out Noah was still home waiting for Marcel to pick him up.
Not looking forward to it Marcel had no choice but to get ready, he was now standing outside the patio of Noah's house waiting for him to come out.
"That's what you are wearing to the party?" Noah stepping out of the house.
"Yes don't I look good?" Marcel admiring himself.
Marcel wore a spotted shirt that was both black and white just like his onesie, his pants were bright red, quarter short you could see his color coded socks and black formal shoes and to complete the look he who orange suspenders.
Noah didn't know how to respond to any of this, he just kept quiet and they just left for the party. The party was held in the local famous club called the All Nighter Club, a very exclusive club but today it was all ages, the sound was so loud, people were dancing. There were people waiting there but one that caught Marcel's eyes was none other than Carmen Autumn.
"Hello Marcel fancy to see you here, I thought this wasn't your destination?" Carmen met him halfway.
"Well you know Noah he's very convincing" Carmen's face expression changed when she heard Marcel saying that more like confused.
"Well let me not keep you waiting you have to find your friend" Carmen rushed over to someone who called her.
The party went on as all parties go many people were having fun and dancing, of course apart from Marcel who was standing alone in the corner watching everyone else having fun. Then he got bored and started looking for Noah.
He looked for Noah more than an hour but he was nowhere to be found, so he started asking around.
"Hey did you see Noah?" Teenagers looked at him like he was crazy and ignored him. "Have you guys see where Noah went?" He asked again.
Marcel kept asking around but no one could really help him, most people gave him a cold shoulder, others pushed him away from him and one even said " There's no one by that name here"
Maybe that was a prank he thought, this was Noah's doing he was a known prankster and he would pull stunts like this, last time he convinced Marcel that all his answers were wrong in a test and he couldn't get sleep for days thinking about this.
