Chapter 15 - Incoming Attack

"Are you both alright?"

Not long after patching up Mira and after making sure she was ok. Kagami began to patch himself up the best he could when their Hyuuga member walked over. In his hands was the chunin who was knocked out while the Hyuuga member had some injuries.

"Tired." Kagami replied honestly.

"So did you guys kill one alive?" The Hyuuga member asked as he looked around.

'Does it look like any of these people are alive?' Kagami and Mira thought together.

"I thought I asked you to keep one alive, but oh well. Let's go, you two, we need to get back to the camp." The Hyuuga member ordered

While the Hyuuga member seemed not to mind that much, both Kagami and Mira felt like the man was annoyed with them. How were they, a new genin who has basically done logistics since coming here, supposed to fight five jonin and keep one alive. Not to mention they were only seven and this was only the first time they stepped out of the camp and had basically fought jonin who are the village's best strengths.

Dragging their wounded bodies back towards camp, if it wasn't for the unconscious chunin that was captured. Neither Kagami nor Mira had any doubts that the Hyuuga member would have returned at a quicker pace. Thus leaving them behind wounded and exhausted in the open for another possible ambush.

'Why did we get stuck with the bad apples on our first patrol?' Kagami sighed lightly mentally.

Not only did their captain run away and only took two chunin with him, but their Hyuuga member who was scouting failed to notice the ambush. While Kagami wasn't asking for perfect teammates, how can a man using the Byakugan fail to notice a group of eight surrounding them at such close range. It is not like Suna has a technique that is similar to the Flying Thunder God Technique.

Looking at Mira bandages and knowing that the cut might leave a scar. Kagami felt bad that he wasn't quick enough to help her. So a few thoughts ran through his mind about how to help her remove it after they could return to the village. A few thoughts also ran through his mind about how to strengthen their bodies and naturally healing ability.

While he thought of Hashirama Regeneration and Naruto regeneration with Kurama. Kagami wanted to find his own way to replicate them and not be like Tsunade. While he gives her creation for creating a jutsu that could potentially match such regeneration. He wanted one that wouldn't shorten either his or Mira lifespan like Hashirama and Naruto's.

'Well, I can't actually be sure, but it was theorized that neither Hashirama and Naruto's lifespan were shortened with their regenerations. Since it was most likely chakra that healed the wounds quickly using the least amount of cell division as possible if at all. So how did Hashirama die?' Kagami thought to himself.

Then an idea struck him as it made a bit of sense. It said that Hashirama died protecting his village, so could he have fought an Otsutsuki member. Hence he died while beating them or pulled in too much natural energy overloading his body. Thus, his life was cut short from offsetting nature energy?

This theory felt feasible and he would need to study Hashirama Cells at some point in the future to verify such a thought. It would be an interesting twist and he only saw it in very few fanfictions previously. Since most seem to revolve around very popular theories and very few try to be different such as Wood Release include Yang, shorten one's lifespan upon using Wood Release, chakra being refined squeezing cells and so on. Each one looked to be more nonsense as Kagami learned more and explored the mystery known as Chakra.

As for injecting Hashirama Cells into himself and Mira, Kagami felt like a crude method that basically relied on like hoping there isn't too much rejection. Since to him, it was like organ transplants in his previous life. There will always be a rejections of foreign DNA and as Hashirama Cells contain immense lifeforce, they attempt to resurrect Hashirama by devouring what they are implanted into.

'Well, if there is a chance, I will study Hashirama Cells and see if I can replicate his regeneration ability.' Kagami thought as the sight of the camp came into view.

After being sent off to the medical tent where medical nins began to attend to both him and Mira. It wasn't long after the camp began to become busy compared to the camp in the last few months. It wasn't until someone came to tell the medical nin about what was happening did Kagami and Mira know what was happening.

It would seem it didn't take long for the Suna shinobi that the Hyuuga brought back broke down fairly quickly. Well maybe broke down stretching it as he more or less began bragging and taunting. He explained how the Suna is coming here with a large siege of a couple thousand shinobi.

'Is it a final strike?' Kagami frowned.

This move didn't really make much sense since he wondered where the shinobi would come from. Most of the major village's forces are depleted, especially Konoha and Sunagakure. So it didn't make sense where Sunagakure could dig out so many shinobi at once. Unless they basically emptied out their entire village?

"How long is left before they arrive and is the village sending reinforcements?" the Medical nin asked.

"They are arriving today or tomorrow and the Village said they will send some over as soon as possible. However, we were ordered to stay and try to hold them back until reinforcements arrive." The shinobi cried.

Kagami and Mira glanced at each other as coldness filled their bodies. An army of over thousand is coming and the camp barely holds five hundred and not all are combat shinobi. So to resist without a doubt they will be sent out and if anything they will probably be in the front.

'Is it Danzo who gave this order without Hiruzen knowledge or did the advisors pressure the Third?' Kagami mentally sighed.
