Calm before the storm

In the blink of an eye, a year had passed.

During this short period, undercurrents surged within Konoha. The conflict between the Uchiha clan and Konoha's top leaders led to frequent secret meetings between the two sides. The death of Shisui did delay the Uchiha's coup plan, but now that over a year has passed, they have discovered that he was killed.

Thinking that Konoha had figured out their plans, they made preparations and planned to cooperate with Itachi to launch a coup against Konoha from both inside and outside. 

However, the Uchiha could never have imagined that Itachi, the eldest son of the Uchiha clan patriarch, was not on their side. Instead, he reported their every move to Sarutobi and others. 

To avoid civil war in the village and prevent the Fourth Ninja War, Sarutobi finally stopped hesitating and ordered the massacre of the Uchiha clan. 

At the same time, to ensure the vitality of Konoha and prevent other ninja villages from taking advantage of the situation, Danzo Shimura successfully convinced Uchiha Itachi to rebel. The price was that Konoha must ensure the safety of his younger brother, Sasuke.

Looking at the silent Yato, Sasuke felt even better.

"Snort! See, I have two, and you only have one. How can you compete with me?"

He felt that he had finally defeated that freak once. But it was a pity that, perhaps because he was too eagerly anticipating his gifts when he returned home in the evening, he felt that time passed very slowly today.

Finally, after waiting for a long time, school was over. But the teacher called him to the office again.

"Teacher, what a joke! You dragged me along for such a long time just for such a small matter."

Sasuke didn't understand why the teacher kept holding him in the office to have a casual talk with him. Couldn't he have done so another day?

By the time he left the school gate, it had begun to darken, and the crows on the power lines were already cawing.

"Oh no, it's already so late! I have to go back quickly and not keep Mom and the others waiting for too long!"

The distance between the Ninja School and the Uchiha Clan was not far. After a while, Sasuke, who had been jogging all the way, arrived at the gate of the clan territory.

"Why is the clan so quiet today?" he wondered, but didn't think too much about it. After all, the Uchiha family was the most powerful in Konoha, and even the Hokage had to give them some courtesy. The reason no one was here was probably because they had gathered at the ancestral temple, right? Ever since Senior Shisui disappeared inexplicably, clan gatherings have become very frequent.

With curiosity, Sasuke kept walking toward home.

Yato, who had just finished his training and was about to walk home, halted his steps as he heard Riku's words. He looked up to see Riku standing in the air with its tail raised, looking into the distance.

"What started..." Yato was confused for a moment before realizing Riku was talking about the night of the Uchiha clan's genocide.

The Dokkaebi jumped onto his shoulder and urged, "Yato, why don't we go check it out?"

Riku wished he could be there in person to witness the performance of the world's best actor, Uchiha Itachi.

"No," Yato answered firmly, turning and walking directly toward Might Guy's house.

"Huh, why?" Riku was puzzled by Yato's refusal. It floated and followed him from behind before asking, "Aren't you interested in the Sharingan? If you exchange them, you would get a large sum of TP."

"I know." Yato paused his steps and looked up. "I'll definitely go there, but not now."

"Why?"

"If I go now, I might encounter Uchiha Obito."

Yato's current gravity ability wasn't strong enough to bend space yet, so he wasn't confident he could face Obito if it came to that.

He wasn't delusional enough to think that Obito would take a liking to him and invite him to join the Akatsuki after seeing him kill the Uchiha and take their eyes.

But the most important reason why he refused to rush to the Uchiha clan and risk losing a few Sharingan was his caution towards Black Zetsu. He didn't want to attract the attention of such an ancient being.

Despite being portrayed as weak with no strong fighting power, Yato wouldn't take the anime as fact. For a being like Black Zetsu to survive a thousand years, he must have many tricks up his sleeve. Even Uchiha Madara fell for his schemes.

"So, when will you go?" Riku asked.

"When everything is over," Yato replied before resuming his walk.

Unlike Riku, who was eager to watch the show, Yato just wanted to know whether Uchiha Fugaku had awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan.

In the manga, there is no mention of Fugaku activating the Mangekyō Sharingan. But in the anime, to enrich Uchiha Fugaku's character, they forcibly gave him a pair of Mangekyō Sharingan. However, the ability of his Mangekyō Sharingan was not directly pointed out, only vaguely hinted at. It was speculated that Fugaku's Mangekyō Sharingan's ability was to see a glimpse of the future, which was extremely mysterious.

The most obvious hint was what Fugaku said to Itachi before his death. He said, "I don't want to see my son and I killing each other, so you kill me, Itachi. Remember to protect Sasuke; protect him no matter what; he is the hope of our Uchiha clan."

After these words came out, many fans theorized that Fugaku's Mangekyō technique was "predicting the future." Even if it wasn't, his eye technique had a similar effect. After all, he said, "I don't want to see it," not "I don't want to kill my son." This kind of sentence, which looks extremely like a grammatical error, can easily spark wild imaginations.

Of course, this might also be an overinterpretation by fans. It couldn't be ruled out that Fugaku knew his son too well and had already guessed what Itachi would do next. He didn't want the Uchiha clan to disappear from history, so he entrusted the task of continuing the Uchiha clan to his youngest son.

Thinking of this, Yato wanted to be a gravedigger. The world he lives in now is not a comic world or an animation world, but the real world. If this world is based on anime, then if Fugaku's tomb is dug up, wouldn't he easily have a pair of Mangekyō Sharingan?

"You're really more ruthless and greedy than Danzo," Riku said after hearing Yato's plan.
