Chapter 2: Genin Team

(Just a quick note, I probably should have said this in the synopsis but if there's a tie breaker I'll just spin a wheel.

With that being said let's get into it.)

'I think I should try and make the most use of these two weeks, after all I'm a Genin now and I need to start taking things more seriously. I'll use these weeks to research my potential Sensei and anything that might help me as a shinobi whilst sharpening up my Taijutsu.'

With a plan in mind I look down at the headband in my head and without much deliberation I tied it around my forehead before leaving for the library.

My journey to the library was fairly uneventful, most likely because everyone that I knew was currently either celebrating or falling into depression depending on wether or not they passed the Genin exam.

'Oh well, I prefer it this way anyway, Less distractions so I can focus and not get sidetracked.'

When I arrived at the library a little bit of excitement had built up within me, after all I had finally been able to enter the shinobi section of the library rather than the boring civilian section.

I walk past all the regular books and go straight to the back where the shinobi section is, giving a slight nod to the Chunin guarding the entrance to the shinobi section.

'This is… a whole lot bigger than I thought it would be. How many fucking D rank jutsu does the village have? I wouldn't even be able to fit all these scrolls in my apartment if it was twice as big!' Noburu thought in wonder.

I wouldn't let myself get distracted though so I walked up to the main book that I came here for, the Bingo Book.

It was easy to find since we were taught what it looked like in the academy, it was a thick and tall book with a plain black cover.

Without wasting time I went straight to the Konoha section of the book and looked at the part that contained most of the lower level bounties since I doubted I'd be getting some legendary Jonin as a teacher.

'Hmm, I probably won't be getting a fresher Jonin since their probably getting field experience so it's most likely I'll get a Jonin who's been one for a couple years but not a veteran.'

As I started looking at Jonin who fit this criteria a couple names started popping up.

Asuma Sarutobi the son of the Hokage, he worked under the Daimyo for two years, he has an offensive style like me and he returned from the fire capital recently so he's a possibility.

Another possibility is Genma Shiranui, former bodyguard of the 4th Hokage and a well respected Jonin, his fighting style seems to match mine even better as he's good with Taijutsu and considered one if the best users of thrown weapons in the village.

The last Jonin who i'd say is likely to be my Jonin is somebody called Hayate Gekko, He is known for his Kenjutsu skills which I could probably benefit from learning considering I don't have many lethal options and his skill in tracking down enemies another skill that I lack.

'If my Sensei ends up being any of these three then strengthening my Taijutsu to impress them is definitely the best course of action for me right now.'

I ket out a short sigh before glancing over the book again.

'I feel slightly more relaxed now that I know who some of the most likely candidates to be my sensei are, after all they all seem competent and have good resumes.'

I closed the Bingo Book and put it back while thinking about how powerful I'd have to be to just have a small bounty.

'All sorts of the most elite ninja alive were mentioned in this book for all sorts of reasons and someday maybe my name would be written down in this book of legends.'

'Noburu Suzuki the orphan from Konoha.'

The rest of my two weeks went by fairly quickly, I spent most of my time either relaxing or training myself in a new Taijutsu stance that I found in the library called the Eight Limbs Style which utilises your knees and elbows quite a lot which gives is the reason for its name.

I made a fair amount of progress in it by getting most of the basic stances down and I've started to get more comfortable utilising it as well.

With the progress that I've made I felt pretty comfortable about finally meeting my Jonin sensei and beginning my real journey as a ninja.

Soon the time came for me to depart for the academy and find out who would be on my Genin team.

'Might as well leave now even if I'm a bit early, I don't have anything to do in the meantime.'

My journey to the academy was relatively uneventful, weirdly I didn't see anyone from the academy on my way there.

When I opened the door of my old class I was shocked to find that basically everyone was there already.

'Why the hell is everyone here before me? Even that weirdo Naruto is here before me and that's saying something… actually I didn't even think he'd pass, maybe he actually studied for once and did well on the written exam.'

"Yo Noburu," One of my few friends in the academy Daiki called out to me, I walk over and sit next to him near the back of the room.

"Daiki, why the hell is everyone here so early? We were supposed to be here in another twenty minutes," I asked still bamboozled by the fact that I was somehow the last person here.

"I don't know about you but I wasn't able to sleep last night because I was thinking about today, I'm guessing everyone else was the same and they were too excited to wait," Daiki answered.

"That's fa-" I was cut off by Iruka Sensei walking into the room with a clipboard in his hands.

"Good morning everyone, I knew you guys would be here early, after all when I graduated my class were all half an hour early and couldn't sit still. So I decided why don't I just come a little early so we can get started," Iruka said while smiling.

Cheers came from around the class at that even me and Daiki had smiles on our faces.

"Alright settle down so I can start announcing your teams. We wanted each squad to have a balance of strength and abilities so that's how we set them up. I will now announce the teams."

"Team Seven, Naruto Uzumaki, Sakura Haruno and Sasuke Uchiha," Iruka announced the first squad which seemed to please Sakura, conflict Naruto while Sasuke seemed just as aloof as ever, hardly reacting. It also seemed to cause some bickering between Sakura and Ino.

"Next team Eight, Hinata Hyuga, Kiba Inuzuka and Noburu Suzuki," Iruka announced.

I turn to look at Kiba from across the classroom and he grins at me seemingly happy with our team. I send him a smirk back in response.

'I'm pretty happy with my team too, we have three of the best Taijutsu users in the class, two of whom are clan heirs that have their own secret techniques or kekkei genkai. I'm assuming that we're a search and destroy team considering our combination of tracking and offensive abilities.'

"Noburu you're so lucky you have two of the clan heirs on your team you're basically guaranteed a powerful Jonin," Daiki said to me with a bit envy.

"Meh it was never in doubt, I did come second when it came to the Rookie of The Year Rankings," I responded lightly.

"Be excited at least Noburu Damn! You're basically set for the future!" Daiki told me before Iruka started talking again.

"Team Nine, Shino Aburame, Daiki and Ami Fujimori," Iruka continued.

"Let's go! I guess you're not the only hotshot civilian around here huh Noburu," Daiki said with a cheeky smile.

"Don't get too cocky you're insufferable enough as it is," I say teasingly.

Daiki just smirks in response while still celebrating that he was given a good team.

"Team Ten, Shikamaru Nara, Choji Akamichi and Ino Yamanaka, These are all the teams and if you weren't named you'll be headed to the Genin Corps" Iruka says wrapping up the team sorting.

"Everyone who will be in a team wait here and your Sensei will come pick you up, everybody else just follow me," After that Iruka left with all the Corps Genin.

Moments later a trio of shinobi wearing jackets that signified that they were high ranking shinobi walked into the class room.

'Heh maybe I'm smarter than I thought, both Asuma Sarutobi and Genma Shiranui are here two shinobi who I wouldn't mind having as my Sensei. I don't recognise the last one though she seems to be of a similar age to Asuma,' I contemplate while keeping my attention focused on the Jonin in front of me.

"Team 10 you're with me," The Woman who had long black hair and red eyes said before exiting with Choji, Shikamaru and Ino following in toe.

"Hey Team 8 you three are with me," Asuma my new Sensei tells us waiting for us to walk over to him and then leading us out of the class.

"Look I'm your new sensei Asuma Sarutobi, some of you have probably heard of me because I'm the son of the hokage or something like that."

All of us nodded, me because I checked of when I looked in the Bingo Book and Hinata and Kiba probably knew since they were heirs to major clans and were aware of most of the important figures in the village.

"Anyways I've not eaten today so why don't we talk more over Lunch, my treat," Asuma tells us while leading us out of the academy and to whatever place he wanted to eat at.

"Damn a strong sensei, a good team and free food! Yeah today couldn't get any better." Kiba said happily obviously very pleased with our current situation.

"For sure man, we got the best team and you'll never see me complaining about free food," I saywith my happiness coming through clearly in my voice.

We end up walking and chatting for like two more minutes before Asuma tells us to stop.

"Alright guys this is it, my favourite place to eat in all of Konoha Yakiniku Q," Asuma announces to us before beckoning us to come in.

"T-the food in h-here smells good A-asuma Sensei," Hinata says with her usual stutter and meek voice.

"Trust me it tastes way better than it smells let me order some food for us," Asuma says beckoning over a waiter.

"Can we get a couple platters of different types of beef I don't really mind so I'll trust your judgment," Asuma said amicably.

"Don't worry we only sell the best food here I'll make sure you get the best cuts of beef available since you're a regular," The waiter said matching Asuma's tone before walking off to get on with our orders.

"Now that that's sorted how about we finally get on with fully introducing ourselves, I'm not gonna ask you to say anything super specific just say you're name and something you want me to know about you. Noburu you wanna go first?" Asuma asked me.
