Naruto: A Broken Dream

Hiroshi was never someone who would rush into a fight, he was a happy person, someone who enjoyed getting everyone to laugh alongside him, Hiroshi was Mark Baker, a weeb who one day woke up in the world of Naruto and became Hiroshi Aburame... ---------------------------------------- I wanted to see what outside the scope of canon could do to the timeline, the story would probably go into massive AU in the future, with the whole world of Elemental nations going up and down because of Hiroshi's choices. If you want to read it, give it a try as the story won't be a linear worldbuilding, and everyone would be trying to screw one another... ---------------------------------------- This novel is my attempt at trying the Simulation system trope, I liked the idea behind the system, just the execution of many novels using this troupe was a blunder to navigate due to them being mostly MTL... So here's my attempt at a Simulation type novel. If you want to read ahead or read 9 Chapters ahead- https://www.patreon.com/DesMark

The chunin Exams! - Part 1

{Somewhere in the Land of Fire}

{10:09 AM, 8 March 78 Yrs}

[Day 10: You continue with physical conditioning, your STR increases by 2 points, Vit by 3 and AGI by 1. A squad composed of chunin arrived at the Kōchiyo outpost, after a brief chat your team was ready to go back to Konoha.]

[Day 14: You are back in Konoha, this time you inform Tora that you would be unavailable for further missions. You went back to the training ground 21 and continue with your physical conditioning.]

'Unless I get a but load of simulation points from this run, I'll most probably select to extract the stats gained during the simulation, plus most probably the reason for my death in the second simulation was that the Aburame clan poisoned me, that's why my death was so abrupt. With Poison Ivy now I could hopefully survive for some more time.'

[Day 15: Your AGI increased by 1.]

[Day 17: Your STR and VIT increased by 1.]

[Day 20: Your STR, VIT and AGI increased by 1.]

[Day 22: Your DEX and VIT increased by 1.]

[...]

[...]

[Day 45: Through vigorous exercise, your stats have reached the limits of what your body can handle, in an attempt to further increase the weight your right ankle suffered a strain during a routine sprint. You are affected by status affect {Broken Ankles}. Your AGI is restricted to 20 till you recover.]

'...I want that Hardworking(Blue) trait... I didn't think I would get injured in the simulation if I push my body too much, but my DEX broke through to 46 even when my stat cap was 40.'

[Day 46: Once again not getting satisfactory treatment from the Konoha Hospital, you leave without fuss and took a few days off to let your ankle rest.]

[Day 47: The swelling has gone down but it will probably still take 3-7 days for your leg to be healthy again.]

'Fuck that, let's contact Ren and try and form a team to take part in the chunin exams.'

[Day 48: You take a walk across Konoha, the market was bustling as the traders got ready for the upcoming chunin exams. You arrive at the training ground where Ren usually trains only to find him working on the Great Fireball Jutsu. You talk to him about the chunin exams and as both of you mull over who to ask Ren suggested going and asking Mitsuru. Apparently, Eiko and Mitsuru were in a similar situation and they were looking for someone to go with them as well. In the end, Eiko suggested to Mitsuru that he should team up with us if both our teams could not find two more suitable people among the registered shinobi.]

[Day 49: You felt the swelling in your leg has gone down significantly and your stat restriction on AGI was changed from 20 to 30, you and Ren both register with the Konoha administration department for the chunin exams and filled up the forms to try and find someone competent to team up with.]

[Day 51: Your ankles almost healed up as you and Ren go through the list of possible temporary teammates for the Chunin exams.]

[Day 52: The status effect {Broken Ankles} wears off, getting ready for the chunin exams you get back to working on your taijutsu proficiency.]

'Alright everything is set, worse comes to worst we'll just participate in the exams with Mitsuru, although a healer would be preferable. Even though I won't extract any skills from this simulation, it would be better for my survival to get the Taijutsu up and maybe learn the Earth Release: Earth-Style Wall but unfortunately it's B-grade and I don't think I can force it and risk blowing myself up in the simulation...'

[Day 83: You have spent the last month sparring with the rest of the genin in the reserve force in order to gain more experience and quickly level up your taijutsu Vaccum First. Through all your effort you managed to MAX out the skill at level 5. Due to your impressive record against your fellow comrades, your reputation as a taijutsu genius has spread, but no matter how much you try you could not get the {Beginner Vaccum Fist} to upgrade, following the suggestion of Ren you decided to donate your taijutsu style to the village in hopes that maybe someone would be able to fix the loopholes.]

[Day 85: Today the Chunin exam starts, you and Ren didn't find anyone suitable from the reserve force that met your requirements so in the end you decided to team up with Mitsuru. Both Eiko and Mitsuru are kenjutsu practitioners making your team a little heavy on close combat with no utility and support except for Ren's new fire jutsu. Mitsuru being a blade lover opted to learn the basic footsteps of Dance of the Moon, Konoha's B Rank Kenjutsu style. Before the exams you once again remind both your teammate's rumours about Ibiki's notorious reputation for mind games and how he is one of the heads of the T&I department, specializing in information extraction. Amidst the questioning look of your teammates, your team passed the First part of the Chunin exam.]

'Alright now this time maybe with the help of poison ivy, I can confirm what happened to me last time, if it was the Aburame clan, I should be able to survive long enough to do something about it, still, our main aim should be to take the first fight, get a scroll and then barter with another team if possible...'

[Day 86: You rush through gate no 24 of training ground 44, because of your training montage for the last 3 months, your speed now is the fastest among your group. You and Ren discuss for a brief moment before deciding to rush towards the nearest gate to try and get the Earth scroll to pass the exam. You were on edge the whole time looking around for any sign of Kikaichū, while also alerting Ren to the possibility. It didn't take long for Ren to tell you that he found a team close by, judging by chakra reserves they were high genin like your team. You decided to go with Formation A, not knowing the origin of the target team, Ren and Mitsuru decided to use {Earth Release: Hiding Like a Mole Technique} to scout them out, with Ren being the primary initiator and Mitsuru being his backup.]

'Try to finish it as quickly as possible before moving towards the centre, we should be done with the exams if we are lucky...'

[Day 86: A couple of minutes later Ren and Mitsuru came back saying the team was from the hidden village of Kusa, that word triggered your memories about Karin Uzumaki. You don't remember much but knowing her sensory range you knew that your team's attempts at stealth and scouting were most likely blown, and they are probably preparing a trap. In the Anime, Karin was the last one alive after her team got killed. After confirming that there was a redhead girl among the three you were sure that it was most likely that their trap would fail but you still warn your team, and you decided to attack instantly, not giving them time to prepare. You knew that Karin's combat effectiveness was zero, but her teammates would most likely try and take advantage of using her special ability ruthlessly. So you faked heading straight for the girl before Shushining behind the brown-haired member of team kusa, you pincer him with Mitsuru while Ren used a fire jutsu to keep the kenjutsu user away. In a couple of seconds the brown-haired one was overwhelmed, even if he wanted to trade ruthless blows, handling two opponents faster than himself clearly wasn't on his skill list. Your punch destroyed his balance as Mitsuru's sword cleanly entered through the gap in his ribs avoiding most of the important organs. You weren't merciful though, the kunai curled in your right hand made a clean cut along the genin's Jugular. You spoke with Mitsuru and you both team up with Ren and quickly your team took care of the kenjutsu user, both Ren and Mitsuru were a little unnerved by your ruthlessness and they almost stopped you from moving towards the redhead.]

'...I wasn't expecting to see her... her story is quite sad but right now there is no point meddling, with anything, there is no need to attract the attention of Orochimaru, maybe he had already marked her as a target and he wanted to take her away after the exams, or in another case, unless I am going to kill her, Kusa would know that she failed to pass the exam, and they would surely want her back... so I should just throw her out of the Forest back through gate 24.'

[Day 86: You weren't sure what Karin was feeling at the moment, but you quickly knocked her out, there was no point letting her wander the forest with her combat capabilities, you searched her, not finding anything of value but still decided to keep her weapons pouch. You used the {Solid Clone Jutsu} and another Hiroshi popped up in a burst of smoke, his instructions were already clear when you made him, he picked up the feeble girl and rushed back towards gate 24. Ignoring their questioning look, you motion for Mitsuru to check for their scroll while, Ren was on the lookout for anyone close by, his sensing range barely covered half a kilometre but that was enough to give an early warning. Mitsuru found the scroll on the brown-haired genin's corpse, he was a little reluctant but Hiroshi quickly snatched the weapons pouch of the two genins before quickly leaving the area, you sprinkle the scent-erasing powder on yourself and your team before dashing towards what you can assume to be the centre of the forest.]

'I don't know how long would Ren be able to keep up his sensory, but it shouldn't take us long to reach the tower in the middle, if I get there soon enough to make a dent in the record then I would be in the limelight and the Aburame Clan should back off, let's just rush straight in and if I am lucky enough maybe I'll have to fight someone weaker than me and maybe pass the preliminary exam...'

[Day 86: You rushed towards the tower at full speed, avoiding a team or two that had reached deep into the training ground because of the time it took for your team to defeat the Kusa team. A couple of hours later as your teammates read the poem about mind and body, you quickly open the scroll and let it fall to the ground, in a puff of smoke, a proctor wearing a Leaf headband appeared in front of your team with a stunned expression. He quickly composed himself before mentioning that your team is not allowed to leave the building for the next 5 days before the second part of the exams finishes. He then proceeded to explain the meaning of the two poems on the wall before ushering your tram into the tower from a back door. Both you and Ren were pretty tired so you all decided to sleep for today now that you weren't in any danger.]

'Alright, that went a little easier than I expected, hopefully, I get an easy opponent later...'

AN: Sorry about the small break, I was preparing a timeline for the story so I don't mess up much. Dude, writing a story with the main character knowing both the plotline and the ever-changing future is hard, and then I have to change things according to his actions and make sure there aren't any glaring holes in the plot,.it is harder than I imagined. For future reference, most of the time, Hiroshi would act on the information he got from the simulations thus changing both the future in the real world and the next simulations.

I'll give a brief example, in the first and second simulations he noticed he had died, which lead to him trying to avoid being a member of team Tora by using the chunin exams as an excuse. When the Aburame clan got this information, the plan to accidentally injure him outside the village was shelved because it affected both the village's reputation and left some loopholes that could bite them later. Instead, the plan to deal with him in the forest of death gave them a chance to clean him up as soon as possible instead of just crippling his career away.

But in this simulation, Hiroshi gained some reputation among his fellow genins of the reserve force due to his newly 'created taijutsu style' which was not that hard to learn but was very effective, and when he donated the taijutsu style to the village, the plan to kill him with a rinkaichū was shelved again, as they proceeded to once again observe him and his capabilities. If an investigation happens, killing a bottom-of-pile genin from the reserve force won't cause as much of a headache for the hidden culprit, as killing a genius who was a capable shinobi and clearly a contributor to the prosperity of the village.

Anyway, I just wanted to say that these thoughts keep bouncing in my head as I write, thus I have to delete a lot of stuff and re-write a lot of it to accumulate these characters' thoughts instead of just writing a power-up novel. Enough of my rambling I'll see you guys tomorrow, hopefully!

PS: the Story has now 15k+ words, so maybe give it some votes if you like? I would love for more people to discover it so that I get more motivation to write!!!
