Mystical Gastronomy

Ophelia is determined to always live with her memories. She claims that memories are the method to relive the times spent with our loved ones. She values sentiments beyond all else, and the past means everything to her. In this regard, she invented a "Memory Nutriment". So anyone could live in the memory while having a meal. One could change the entire course of the situation there. They could have more moments of joy with their loved ones. The people of the town of Pensive acknowledge Ophelia as their saint because she gave them the nutriment. But now the whole town is immensely dipped in "Memory Nutriment" most people have forgotten about their present, their jobs, their duties, and their kids especially. Felix's life is a true example of atrocities caused by "Memory Nutriment". Throughout his life he could not make memories, for the beings, he could make them with were drowned in theirs. He hates Ophelia and is heartbroken by the decline of his town. Will Felix discover Ophelia's true motivation behind this and ultimately save his town? Sitting at the bank of the lake with feet drenched in cold water. Felix told me "I've never had a mother" that day the blue in his eyes didn't stay there any longer, and in mine too!

Revival of Memories PART 2

Felix got ready and turned to face his reflection in the mirror, and took a deep breath. Sometimes the image we see is not our reflection; rather it may be that we are the one in front of us but neither our mind nor our vision is focused on ourselves at the moment. The home was still resonating with sobbing when he straightened his suspenders and headed to his mother's chamber. He mustered all his strength at the door to face what was inside and forced it open. A lady was there continually sobbing with her back at his so she could not see him. He slowly went toward her and placed his hand on her shoulder. She jerked in astonishment as if his hand produced electricity. That made Felix lost for words too, he sat beside her but did not say a thing when she began "You look exactly like your father, and you're just as attractive. The same blue eyes as his. Although you did not match the hue of my eyes, I was delighted that you did match his". Felix only smiled wistfully and changed the theme of the conversation "Mom, I think you've forgotten what the date is?" "No" she whispered and continued "I needed to be with him today too. That's why…" he cut her in the middle, placing a finger at her lips politely and assured her "Don't worry mom. You should get ready; Aunt Rose has already sent a message" with that he left the room and shut the door.

The entire town was ready for the event, silver color was everywhere to be seen. They considered the color silver sacred because Ophelia loved it. Individuals wearing silver, posters, flags everything. There was so much silver there that it was potentially blinding. Except for Ophelia's name nothing else could be heard in the crowd. Her tales, wonders she performed, and blessings. Magazines entitled "The saint" were selling like hot cakes. Everyone was sharing their experience of the past year. The crowd was bustling for even the old ones were out today. The vendors were heaped by sweets lavished with silver leaves. Children were having a fun time eating and enjoying the event. Everyone seemed enthusiastically spirited. Felix entered the crowd along with his mom, Aunt Rose, and Philip. It was some yards away from his house. Except for Felix everyone was clad in silver. He felt most at ease wearing a white shirt and blue corduroy suspender pants. Ophelia's honor was being compromised as a result, but by this point, everyone had grown accustomed to his actions. He did not turn to look at the other sides as he walked forward when an old man interrupted his deliberate inattention. Felix did not want to talk but he smiled courteously as was his way for the old man, and told his mom that he'd be back in a minute. The old man smiled with all his teeth visible and with a croaky voice he said "Oh dear Felix! Long time no see". Felix politely carried on the conversation whilst his mother went to the other crowd packed with ladies of her age. Felix began searching for his mother after the old man left when he suddenly located her. That sight cut his heart into pieces. He clenched his fists and his white face turned red with anxiety. His mom was laughing and smiling and giggling, she was doing everything a normal happy person does. Was there no happiness for Felix he thought?

"Hello, ladies and gentlemen! I give you my sincerest wishes on this sacred event. Today we are celebrating the (Revival of Memories Day) the same day when Ophelia the saint gave us a tremendous gift in the form of (Memory Nutriment)" a man in his 40s climbed up the stage and very enthusiastically began addressing people around him. Felix's attention suddenly diverted towards that man and he muttered under his breath "Same old garbage" when his mom came toward him with a perfect expression that both of them should listen to that address. Felix fingered his wavy hair in order to set them and unwillingly proceeded a little further. "Ophelia the saint, in the honor of which we are here passed away 50 years ago. A tragedy indeed, may her soul rest in peace!" he continued dramatically "Through her blessings on us we are able to live more with our precious ones who passed away or in certain cases departed" this was getting on Felix's nerves "She was very generous to shower her blessings upon us" at this a man appeared from behind the stage and whispered something in his ear. Everyone was curious as to what was happening but there was no need for it, he himself announced "Oh dear! I have a piece of good news for everyone who lives on this street: a new bakery store is opening here for your convenience precisely. Now you don't have to go further away to cherish your hearts" he winked. Felix turned and what he saw cut his heart again his mother was crying merrily with Aunt Rose. Both of the ladies were cherishing this news. His mother suddenly looked 10 years younger and he found himself shattering into pieces like an old soul. A memory came to him in a flash. A boy of almost 7 years got himself hit by a knife; blood was on his hand. He was only a child, so even though the cut itself wasn't particularly deep, it still hurt. He cried in pain, he cried for his mother. His face went red with helplessness as tears streamed down his cheeks, but no one arrived. He was in pain with blood all over his hand but no one was there for his aid. The house echoed with the voice of a lady wailing as always.

His eyes widened in disbelief. Sometimes even if we are certain about a thing, a part of us never loses hope, it always tells us that "Today might be different, the same won't happen again" but in 99% of circumstances it does happen. No matter how much we try to convince ourselves otherwise, some responses are predictable. He murmured "So a change this year" and went away from his mom. At some distance from the crowd, near his house, a horse was standing. Felix's facial muscles relaxed slightly. It was the only thing that could relieve his strain. The horse was mesmerizing with every step that Felix took toward him "Hey my boy!" he exclaimed running a hand along its hair, the horse neighed with joy "Sorry Phoenix, my partner, I could not get to you early this morning, you know all that stuff" the horse nodded in agreement but it did look sad. How come Felix did not notice it, he asked gesturing dramatically as if he was considering something significant "Do you want to go for a ride with me?" phoenix raised his front two legs in order to record his agreement. Anyone who did not know him would have assumed that he was a prince or at least a member of a royal family because the thing that convinced them to make a such decision was not just his charming personality but the goodness inside of him that gushed out of his face. Anyone could tell that he was a true gentleman by means of his acts and thoughts. The majority of people in town disliked him since he was the only one who despised OPHELIA.

Sorry I divided the chapter into two parts. It was a misunderstanding actually, I hope you people don't mind.

P.S: LOVE YOU !
