The prisoner, breathing heavily and clearly defeated, glared up at the kids but didn't move to get up.
King, Peter, and Ariela rushed over, amazed by what they had just witnessed. "You did it," King said, pride in his voice.
"You were incredible," Ariela said, hugging each of the kids in turn. "Thank you."
The kids nodded, still catching their breath. They had proven that, despite their age, they had the strength and courage to protect us all.
"We need to get him back to the base," King said, signaling everyone to move.
The group started to move, planning to take the prisoner back to their base. Just as they thought it was safe, the prisoner suddenly stood up. He grabbed a metal rod that had been knocked away and moved with surprising speed.
"Look out!" Reed shouted, noticing the prisoner raise the rod.
The prisoner swung the metal rod, aiming it straight at Ariela. The rod flew through the air, coming dangerously close to her.
