Reed took a deep breath. "If our senses are stronger and we're stronger too, then the traitors might get stronger if they breathe in the blue smoke. We can't let that happen. They could hurt our parents."
We all went silent. Reed was right. If the traitors got stronger, it would be really bad.
"He's right," Thame said slowly. "We can't risk making them stronger. We need to stop this."
Zach added, "But how? They're already planning to test the smoke on the traitors. We need to convince them it's too dangerous."
I looked at my friends, all looking determined. "We need to talk to Uncle King and the others. Explain what's happening to us and why it's a risk."
BJ spoke up, "And if they don't believe us? We can't just wait and do nothing."
I clenched my fists, feeling the pressure. "We'll show them our new senses and strength. They have to see the truth."
