What she thought would be a week was extended due to a collapsed bridge. She needed to find another way around. While Ajena walked, carrying Baby Zomma on her back, she passed through a very quiet area filled with buildings. Ajena was cautious, feeling the surroundings. She noticed something written on a roll-up doors: the number 5, the same on other roll-up doors, totaling 32 in all.
Ajena wondered what significance the numbers held. As she moved past them, slow and weak zombies wandered around the buildings with numbered doors.
Ajena distanced herself, deep in thought. "32? Could that be the count of survivors here?" Ajena wrapped Baby Zomma snugly, giving the pacifier, hat, socks on hands and feet.
She walked back towards the numbered buildings, avoiding zombies trying to attack her. Ajena rolled her eyes at a zombie grabbing her leg.
" You should work in the horror train," Ajena said as she quickly cut off its head with her katana.
Ajena approached the largest number, 11. She pressed her ear against it, knocking five times. After a moment of silence, she heard noise from four roll-up doors with numbers. Ajena hid inside a car, preparing in case it wasn't a survivor.
Peeking out, Ajena saw someone on the rooftop.
" Number 7 on the roll-up door, but it seems there are more than 7 " Ajena peeked again and ducked as a voice suddenly shouted behind her at the door she had knocked.
" There's nothing! We see nothing but zombies!" a shout came from the rooftop.
"No way! 5 knocks?! Zombies?! Maybe he/she's hiding! Just rain her/his of bullets! "
Ajena's eyes widened in seriousness.
"Copy!"
She heard and Ajena cursed and kicked the door of the car causing those below to shoot guns.
"Whoa! Calm down! I'm human!" Ajena yelled from inside the car.
"Hands up and come out!" another shout came from the roll-up door she had knocked. Ajena emerged with hands raised, quickly hiding the gun upon noticing a baby behind her.
"Don't! She has a baby!" a woman shouted from roll-up door number 7.
"Check her, Ez!" a man shouted from above.
The roll-up door where Ajena knocked opened slowly; she turned away, noticing a zombie inside the car.
"Grrr!" it growled.
"Don't move!" shouted from above, Ajena's patience running out as she lowered her hands, they pointed their gun at her
"It's exhausting and you don't seem to need my help," Ajena said, taking her katana and slicing the zombie outside the car.
"I just wasted my time here," Ajena said, walking away, not knowing what the survivors would do, so she let them.
"Brother, will we let her? She has a baby," the man said.
"We don't know if they're infected; I won't risk your safety," the man said.
"But she's not hurt; her arms and hands are clean,"
( Ajena's Point of view )
I ignored the whispers I heard, avoiding a zombie. I wasted my time here while I was looking at something else. Something jumped at me I immediately took out my katana and ended up making a hole in the monster belly.
It's a different kind of zombie, A bird-like monster in the evolving process. This is bigger than the bird monsters that attacked us Dylan Before.
"Miss! You'll be in danger if I were you, I'll surrender myself!" Some guy yelled and I look up with a frown on my forehead.
"Why should I surrender to you?"
"If you want to live, follow us," a man said seriously.
"Yes, Miss! Please surrender , Think of your baby safety ," shouted a young girl holding onto a woman.
I looked at Baby Zomma, who was fast asleep, and chuckled at his deep slumber.
"Nah, I can handle myself," I smiled, about to leave the boundary here when I decided to give them some advice.
"You know, if I were you, I'd find another hideout, not this one," they looked puzzled as they stared at me.
I climbed into a car that was blocking the way.
"Because this place is a hideout for monsters or zombies," I grinned.
"Leave! Don't act smart, just leave!" they yelled.
"Do you think we'll believe you? You probably have plans against us or your companions are already waiting to ambush us!" They started shouting and accusing me.
"You see, even zombies evolve and there are eggs planted in your hideout," I grinned and walked away.
How did I know? Because I saw through a hole covered by the car, I could feel the eggs there.
"Up to you," I added before leaving.
"WAIT!" I stopped but didn't face them.
"What eggs are you talking about?"
I turned and pulled out my shotgun. They quickly hid, and I shot at the car blocking the way flipping it over.
"That's what I'm talking about," I grinned, and as the smoke cleared, they saw many eggs, and some started to get scared.
I chuckled and left quickly. They were probably in a hurry to leave their hideout. I continued walking, whistling, to distract the attention of the zombies, who were very slow.
It seems the process of evolving monsters is slow here. Walk, rest a bit, walk, eat, then bathe in a house, that's almost my routine until one day, two days, three days, and another week passed. I didn't know where I was going. Baby Zomma was still sleeping, and I hadn't seen any survivors except for those I met last week.
I decided to climb onto the roof and lie down while looking at the sky. Slowly, the clouds drifted away and the sun sets . I hugged Baby Zomma, who was still sleeping.
( His point of view )
"Son, where are we going?"
"Yes, Grandson, it's been a week since we've been looking for a new hideout."
I slowed down my motorcycle to catch up with Grandmas on the bus.
"Don't worry, Grandma, we'll find one soon." I just smiled as some old folks complained. I sped up the motor to catch up with Euno.
"What's the news? Are we near the gasoline station?"
"We're almost there, boss! They're just cleaning up the road we're about to pass."
"Good." I turned around to make sure my companions were safe.
We were protecting three buses, others were on motorcycles, circling around. Aque was ahead to ensure there were no problems on the way.
In the first bus, the elderly were together, students were on the second bus, and children and other parents were on the third bus. In a week, we passed by a school, and there were survivors. I made sure no one was left behind.
I stopped and turned aside to approach Euna.
"Hey, Tyler."
"Do you have any matches?" I asked and she gave me and I took out my cigarettes
"Yep! Are we near the gas station? Faoili's bus is almost out."
"Yeah, we're close and... We're here " I said, moving to the front of Sev's bus. We saw Aque loading their motorcycles.
"Aque!" I shouted.
"Hehe, hi boss!"
"Prioritize the buses," I said seriously, and they quickly left to load up the buses.
Aque would take care of the motorcycles. I got off and approached Sev's bus with the students.
"Tyler, these students are so noisy, maybe we shouldn't have brought them," Sev complained.
"Hey, Dude! We really need to pee! Let us out! "
I sighed.
"See that?!" Sev exclaimed.
"Please bear with them, Sev. Just wait," I said seriously to the students, and they quieted down. But as soon as I turned away, the noise started again.
"Hey! Boss said to wait!" I heard Sev shout. When I looked back, two guys tried to get out and hit Sev. I couldn't stop myself and grabbed them by their collars and threw them out of the bus. The students fell silent.
"If you can't behave and follow our rules, just leave!" I shouted, my voice echoing in the area.
"Boss," Euna approached, calming me down.
"Euna, take the girls to the Comfort Room and Ez, you take care of the boys."
"Copy, boss!" Ez replied.
"Ken, help them," I called, and he nodded.
Soon, only three students remained on the bus. Sev came out and approached me.
"It's better for you to be like that, Tyler," he said seriously.
I leaned against the bus and sighed deeply.
"It's been a week, Sev. The elders is losing hope. If this continues, chaos will surely erupt."
"We need to find a new hideout Asap, Tyler," Sev said, turning on the radio.
"What if we go to other survivors?" One of the three student that didn't go to comfort room asked.
"It's too far," I said.
"Yeah, but it's worth it. We know Ariela," another added, furrowing my brows.
"How did you get here if you know them?" Chris asked.
"Before they moved, Ariela and her family lived and were neighbors in our place," one explained.
"We could go back to them," another suggested.
"Yeah, that's true," I sighed.
" It's risky to go back; we've come so far. " I added and they agreed
"But why do they call Ariela's sister 'Ms. Virgin'?"
"That's probably her nickname's purpose, to make us laugh," someone chuckled.
"What does Ms. Virgin look like?" Sev asked.
"She's pretty! She's the daughter of the famous singer Singer Yeon-wa. Ariela's sister is just dark-skinned," another said.
"You're just jealous because she's a black beauty! And you're not "
"Hmp!"
The three students continued chatting. I left them and approached Ken; those kids might cause more trouble.
"Are you done?" I asked as I approached Ken.
"They're so annoying, so I went out," Ken said, wiping his face.
"Call them back and hurry up; we're almost done," I said, approaching my motorcycle. I called Asiel in the food truck to hand over the supplies first.
[Yes, boss?]
"Deliver the food, and arrange everything."
[Copy, Boss! Cil, start distributing!]
I heard the shout before the call ended. I saw others taking care of things, and the elderly were the first to receive their share.
I lay down on my motorcycle; I felt tired and needed a short rest.
.....
"BOSS!"
I quickly grabbed my gun and aimed.
"Whoa! Chill It's me! we're done unloading," Aque said, raising his hands. Euna slapped him lightly.
"You should've let Boss rest a little ."
"It's okay; count the survivors if they're complete," I said, getting on my motorcycle, checking my gun and supplies.
"Aaaahh!"
I quickly turned and saw three kids running from a store, chased by zombie dogs.
"Another survivors!" Euna shouted immediately. I started the motorcycle and prepared my gun.
"Aque! Ken! Zombie dogs!"
Bang!
"Yes, boss!" they replied, and I quickly pulled the two kids and Euna. Aque shot at the zombie dogs while I helped the children and Rose uickly approached them.
Bang!
Bang!
Bark! Bark! Bark!
"Wait! You might hit Chubby!" a kid shouted.
"Euna!" I shouted. A big white dog ran while being chased by many zombie dogs.
"Chubby! Hurry, Chubby!"
Bang!
The dog ran to the kids, but Euna missed one zombie dog.
"Damn it! Move aside!" I quickly knocked down that zombie dog and shot it.
"Hurry! Hurry! Get in! Sev! Faoili! Euno! Asiel! Go! Go! Go!" I shouted, directing the buses.
There are too many dogs, damn it! Where did they come from?!
"Boss! They're chasing us!" Aque shouted.
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
We shot the dogs, and unexpectedly, more dogs came out from other stores. After a few hours, they stopped chasing us, and I breathed a sigh of relief.
"Hahaha, that was fun!" Aque said, giving high-fives to others.
The hours passed noisily on the bus with the students and Aque, so I signaled them to be quiet. I slowed down and joined Ken and Euna. Damn it! I don't feel good about this.
The area is too quiet!
