Hell's Kitchen, 56 Brilin Street. A sign, barely holding on due to a missing screw, sways precariously. Written on the sign is—Marvel Agency
No one knows what "Marvel" means, but they do know what an agency is.
Screech!
The ear-piercing sound of brakes rang out, followed by a sleek Audi sports car stopping at the entrance. A rotund man quickly stepped out from the driver's seat and pushed open the agency door. Inside, the decor was very simple: unfinished cement walls and floor, a shabby desk, a worn-out boss chair, and an Asian youth smoking a cigarette in the boss chair.
"Hey, isn't this Happy Hogan? Why aren't you with our playboy? What brings you to my agency?" The youth teased.
"Ed Lee, I'm not in the mood for jokes. You said before that you can take on any commission. Is that true?"
"Of course, I don't brag. Don't rush, tell me slowly. What got you in the dumps?"
"Tony is missing. I need you to help me find him."
Hearing this commission, the youth smiled.
"Paper bills with George Washington's pic?"
"Ten million dollars. Remember, we need him alive."
"Alright, sign your name. We accept this commission. Within three days, Tony will be safely in your hands." The youth pulled out a parchment scroll from somewhere and pushed it toward Happy Hogan, signaling him to sign.
Happy examined the writing on the parchment scroll, ensured there were no issues, then immediately took out a pen and signed his name. But it wasn't over yet; the youth then pulled out an ink pad, indicating for him to press his fingerprint.
Without hesitation, Happy pressed his thumb onto the ink pad. Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through his finger, and he quickly raised it, seeing blood dripping from his finger.
"Hurry up and press it down. If the wound dries up, you'll have to make another one," the youth urged.
Left with no choice, Happy used his blood as ink and pressed it onto the scroll. He then watched as the parchment scroll floated in mid-air. His name and thumbprint emitted a faint orange glow, which grew brighter until the scroll burst into flames with a "boom," eventually turning into a pile of ashes.
"Alright, wait for my good news. I'll bring Tony back within three days."
"No need to bring him back. Just deliver him to the nearby military base and hand him over to Pepper. You know her, right?"
"Pepper Potts. Yes, I know her, a diligent young lady. Alright, go back and wait for news."
"Make it quick."
Happy left, closing the door behind him. He leaned against the door, clutching his rapidly beating heart. The recent scene kept replaying in his mind.
Parchment scrolls, flames, blood, names—all these thoughts swirled in Happy Hogan's head.
Happy felt that it was weird as if he has just signed a contract with the devil but right now his boss's life was in the line.
"Could he be a demon? It doesn't matter. Even if I have to sell my soul, I must bring Tony back."
As long as Tony Stark is fine, Happy didn't care since his boss would even by a devil himself.
Happy Hogan then drove away, while the man inside the room excitedly pumped his fist and sang, "I've waited so long, finally today is here! Dreamed so long, finally the dream is real! Woohoo, I can finally activate the system. Let's fly!"
Indeed, this youth wasn't a local. He was an ordinary citizen from simple Earth. He died of a heart attack out of anger while watching the Marvel movie "Captain Marvel 2." Before dying, he acquired a system that transported him to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) which later became M-She-U.
However, bringing the host to this universe consumed a lot of the system's energy, so the system only gave the host a beginner's package and left him with one message before going dormant: [Host, when someone commissions a task involving major characters, the system will be fully activated. Please be patient.]
After that, the system went silent. The youth, our protagonist Edward Lee or Ed in short, then opened the beginner's package and received a rundown agency, ten thousand dollars, mastery in combat and firearms, identification, and the perfect super soldier serum.
After using the perfect super soldier serum, Edward transformed into a muscular and handsome man, mastering both combat and firearms skills. These were enough to survive in the rough neighborhood of Hell's Kitchen and start running the agency. Until Happy walked in, the system was fully activated, and he learned its name—the Agency System.
As the name suggests, Edward needs to run the agency, completing various commissions to upgrade the system. Completing a commission not only earns the client's payment but also rewards from the system. The rewards vary based on the difficulty of the task.
When upgraded to a certain level, he might even receive commissions from other worlds, requiring him to traverse different universes to complete them.
Of course, Edward can hire employees, but this requires system upgrades. The exact level needed for hiring employees is beyond Edward's current privileges to know.
[Congratulations to the host for fully activating the Agency System and receiving the Beginner's Package 2.]
Edward eagerly opened the Beginner's Package 2. Inside, he found two eggs, a piece of paper, a cloth bag, and a card.
"What is this?"
[You can use your consciousness to click on the items to see detailed descriptions.] the system explained.
Edward focused on the two eggs and clicked with his consciousness.
[Unknown Eggs *2: Place these eggs in an environment with a room temperature of 26 degrees Celsius for three days and nights to hatch, granting you any two characters from the world of animation.]
[Agency Renovation Voucher: Using this voucher grants a simple renovation for the agency. Ten such vouchers can be combined into a Medium Renovation Voucher, ten Medium Renovation Vouchers can be combined into a High Renovation Voucher, and ten High Renovation Vouchers can be combined into a Perfect Renovation Voucher.]
[Spatial Bag: Using this bag grants ten storage slots, allowing storage of ten different items. Identical items can stack infinitely.]
[Gunslinger Legacy Card: Originating from the 'Dark Tower' universe, using this card grants the Gunslinger legacy, including basic healing abilities, master-level western gun skills, enhanced senses, and basic mental barriers.]
After reviewing the item descriptions, Edward immediately used all the items except for the two eggs. Soon, a group of construction workers kicked open the door and, right in front of Edward, started demolishing the walls and floors with sledgehammers, even smashing the remaining furniture to pieces.
Edward stood there, dumbfounded. He had not expected such a scene.
The speed of the construction workers was astonishing. In less than five minutes, they had completely demolished his agency. Then, they began conjuring bricks and cement out of thin air and started the reconstruction.
In less than ten minutes, a brand-new agency appeared. However, this was just a simple renovation: a desk, two sofas, a coffee table, a bookshelf, a water dispenser, and a boss chair were all that furnished the space.
The cement walls were coated with whitewash, the floors were tiled, and the bathroom and bedroom were given the most basic renovation. But for Edward, who had faced bare cement walls for a whole year, this was more than enough.
"Finally, I've absorbed the Gunslinger legacy. Next, I need to choose two suitable guns, and then I can set off," Edward said, exhaling a breath.
