After Hornals death as Jason and his friends stayed in the Lower City Creed Base while the rest of the Creed worked on taking the Upper City. The citizens of Krestain helped in bringing down the Upper City gates. With the gates destroyed the guard of the Upper City quickly fell giving reign of Krestain to the Creed, who established a council of thirteen to rule over the city on the condition that the Creed were allowed to use the city as a base of operations.
As Jason and his friends sit around a fireplace they contemplate on what could've been done Jasper appears. "Sorry Master Jason. But it appears that your Grix has recharged. When we return to our world it should only take you a nights rest to recover your ability." Jasper says in a somber tone.
"Thank you Jasper." Jason replies.
"Of course Master Jason." Jasper says then disappears.
"When should we go?" Blake asks.
"After we bury my father." Mikail says with a glare.
"Ok. Ok." Blake says holding his hands up. "Hey what do you think happened while we were gone? Think they are still searching for us?"
"Probably. I mean there are five hero course students missing." George says.
"Or time works differently here. A few days here could be weeks, months, or years on our world. Or it could be seconds have passed since we left." Lillian says.
The sound of wood scraping on wood cuts through their conversation and they turn to see Commander Hail walk in the door. "The city has been taken. It's in a large part because of you kids." Hail clears his throat "I'm going to assume you will be heading home as soon as you can. Correct?"
"We are heading back once Hornal has been laid to rest. Also I believe Mikail is joining us." Jason says looking at Mikail.
"Is this true Mikail?" Hail asks.
After a moments hesitation he says "Yes sir it is. This world seems intent on killing off those I love. Because of that I have no one left. This is a chance for me to start a new life."
"I see. I will be sad to see you go." Hail says. "But you are allowed to choose your own path. That's part of what the Creed fights for."
"Thank you sir." Mikail says with a slight smile.
As the group sits in silence after hail leaves Jason can't help but want to go look for his parents doppelgängers. Standing he says "Hey guys I'm going to go take a look at the city." He walks to the door and as he opens it he hears Trinity's voice behind him.
"Let me come with you." She whispers.
"O-ok." He stutters realizing how close she is.
As the two begin walking down the street the can smell something burning. It's probably coming from the Upper City. There are bodies scattered here and there. Creed and Peacekeepers of course but there are even civilians scattered among the dead. They all still clutch their weapons even in death.
"So..." Trinity's voice pulls him from his thoughts. "Why did you want to walk the city?"
"I....uh..... I wanted to make sure the people that look like my parents are ok. I know they aren't them but I still care." Jason responds.
"That makes sense." She says. Then after a minute she grabs Jason's arm stopping him. "I.... um..." She fumbles with her words as her face starts turning red. "Thank you for saving my life today." She says and hesitates. Then leans in and gives Jason a kiss. Just a quick one but it was enough for Jason to get flustered.
"I. Uh.... well. Um.... Why?" Jason finally manages a sentence. A one word sentence that is.
"I thought I was pretty obvious." She says exasperated. "It's because I like you dummy." She interlocks her fingers with his and starts walking giving Jason no chance to respond.
Now walking hand in hand the pair searches the city. Jason felt a little awkward. But if Trinity felt it too she didn't show any sign. They walked main streets, side streets, and even alleys trying to find Ronny and Tanya Torr.
With no one on the street they could ask they wandered aimlessly through the seemingly abandoned city streets. The quiet was eerie. A few days ago this place was bustling with activity. They walked towards the market and heard voices. They were whispering so they couldn't make out what was said. When four men in Peacekeeper armor step out of a nearby alleyway. Both Jason and Trinity get ready for a fight.
"You kids better let us pass or we will cut you down." A heavyset man in the middle says.
"I don't think so." Trinity says making an obsidian sword.
"Look lass we are trained warriors. You two can't fight us." A tall one says.
"Oh. You're trained warriors. How about I even the odds then." Jason says as he summons the three surviving steel soldiers. "Three trained warriors plus us two versus you four trained warriors."
"Oh shit. They have magic! Charles we cant fight them." A short portly man says.
"Shut up Dale." The man who must be Charles says. But the other two agree with Dale and the three start backing up.
"Brand stop them but don't kill them." Jason says in a bored voice.
"As you command my liege." Brand says appearing behind the Peacekeepers.
"So do you wanna fight us or him?" Jason says as he points behind them.
Glancing back and seeing the Knight clad in red armor the trio of cowards stops. "Well kid. It's your funeral." Charles says as he rushes forwards.
Jason charges to meet him creating a club of hardlight. Before the two meet Jason drops into a slide slamming the club into the plate armor covering the mans shin tripping him and dropping him face first into the mud. Jason switches from club to sword. "I thought you were trained. You shouldn't lie. Makes you look dumb." Jason says as the now mud covered Charles stands.
"That was a dirty move boy. You'll pay for that." The man levels his sword at Jason and charges again this time he manages a thrust. Jason dodges to the side and chops down at the mans blade. Jason was only trying to send his sword into the mud but instead he shattered the blade sending shards of it into the air and Charles into the mud once more.
"I don't want to kill you Charles." Jason tells the man hoping that he will stop.
"Oh that's too bad. Because I want to kill you." Charles stands and draws a long dagger. He charges again sending slash after slash at Jason.
Jason starts losing ground as he dodges the attacks that Charles through a at him. 'He won stop even if I destroy his weapons.' Jason thinks to himself. 'He's going to make me kill him. Fine.' Jason dodges the next swipe as he sends a blow towards Charles' head.
As Charles ducks the attack he feels a cold sensation start to radiate from his stomach. Looking down he sees the golden glow of Jason's hardlight blade protruding from his gut. "You... bastard." Is all Charles could say before death took him.
*Trinitys Perspective*
'Man. This Charles guy is kinda pathetic. Jason just sent him into the mud and he's still trying to fight.' Charles charges are Jason and Jason shatters the sword. 'Wow!' Charles stands and swipes at Jason causing him to retreat step by step. 'I should step in.' I looked at Jason and saw the resolve on his face. And in an instant Jason swings his hardlight blade at Charles head. Jason dissipates his sword and a dagger forms in his other hand and he thrusts it into the mans gut.
*Normal POV*
Charles staggers back the hardlight dagger already dissipating. Blood begins pouring out of the wound as the coppery stench of blood begins to fill the air. As he drops to his knees trying, ineffectively, to stem the flow of blood pouring through his plate armor.
"How... can you..... kill.... so easily?" Charles stammers out as blood begins filling his lungs and mouth. "You... ahh..." Charles coughs out a mouth full of blood "juss..... a kid." And with this last word the spark of life leaves Charles eyes and he tumbles to the side, splattering mud on Jason's pants.
A group of Creed soldiers comes rounding the corner a minute later. "HEY! You bastard Peace keepers you leave those kids alo..." The shouting squad leader stops in his tracks aa he takes on the scene.
Jason walks up. "We captures these three soldiers. The dead man wouldn't come quietly so....." Jason gestures to the body.
Turning to Trinity Jason says. "Let get back to the others. Ok?"
