Another one might feel guilty for what the Empress had told them. Another person might think it was somehow their responsibility since they had put the man in prison, but Alex wasn't like that.
Kael'Talar had tried to kill him and enticed him to become a goon with threats. The Empress had been on his trail for some time now, so it would have been a matter of time before they locked him up.
All Alex and Tina had done was accelerate it by a few weeks or months; for that, he had no regrets. Working for the Empress was different from his plan. He needed to stop the end of the world, and she was right.
Doing that in an uncertain situation with a new government and a war would be several times harder, but losing time and fighting people instead of monsters didn't seem wise either. He would need to find a middle ground if they accept her order.
