Chapter Two Hundred and Eighty Nine

May POV

It has been close to one week since I arrived in this city and I have been frequenting his favourite bar according to my investigation but he is nowhere to be seen. I employ the service of a private investigator to find out where I can find him but none of them seems ready to accept the job. This is frustrating, I left Los Angeles to here cause I want to make sure that what I started in Los Angeles will last long but it seems like luck is not on my side this time. To make the matter worst I have limited finance cause my father refused to support my quest, he called it a stupid quest cause it doesn't make sense to him that am forcing myself on a man that doesn't want me.

I met Max when he was on a business trip in Los Angeles we had a lot of fun during that period, that period became a memory that I can not forget in a hurry. I cherished those times cause those are my happiest time and the sex is good I will not deny that, seeing him been all cosy with that lady made my veins pop cause am the only woman that is meant for him. I want to meet with the people that am going to start a business with today. With the money I have with me I want to start up something with it so that with the profits coming out of the business I will use it to sustain myself while I worked my way towards Max's heart. Things would have been simple for me if Max's girlfriend is from a poor background but no she is Jerry Williams's only child. I can't use the money to buy her cause she has enough of those. Things are not looking so bright for me now but there is no way I am going to give up, after leaving my comfort zone to this place.

I got ready and left my condo unit to where I will be meeting with my soon to be partners. I arrived at the meeting place but they are not there yet, I walked to the table sat down and ordered a red wine while I wait for them to arrive. Thirty minutes are gone and they are not here yet, am already on my second glass and am trying so hard not to get drunk before they arrived but am going to go crazy if I just sat down there doing nothing. Twenty minutes later am already going crazy when I saw three men in smart looking suits enter the lounge, I know that they are the ones I have been waiting for. They walked to me and started apologising for being late. Sorry for keeping you waiting, the traffic was terrible, They gave their reason for being late which I understand cause I know traffic can be a b*tch sometimes. Am just glad that they are here cause if I will be able to start something with them that guarantees my stay here, if not I will be forced to go back to Los Angeles.

I started telling the reason I requested to see them, I even used my father's company name, so that I can achieve my goal cause I know that people are dying to work with my father's company and am Hundred per cent sure that they will not turn me down. Sorry Miss I don't think we can work with you, that was the response I got from them. What?! Are you kidding me? I can't believe that these morons are turning me down, who in their right senses will turn down such a sweet offer. Are you people aware of what you are about to throw away? I asked them. The guy in the middle started talking, of course, Miss we are aware of the fact that we are turning down an offer from a novice, he answered politely but I know that is a polite insult. Wait, did you just call Dicon's company novice? I asked them cause I can't believe their guts. No don't get us wrong, we are not calling Dicon's company novice cause we know that they are masters in their game, the novice here is you, the guy at the left answered.

They dressed so smartly but they are not smart at all. What do you mean by that I am a novice, am the heiress to Dicon's empire don't you guys think it's a privilege that I want to partner with your company? I asked them. It would have been a privilege if it was your father that want to partner with us, between the all of us here, we know that you have no idea of how to run a business, what you specialised in is spending Daddy's money but this is not an avenue for you to spend money but for you to work for it, which I doubt you will do, the middle guy said. I must say he is so sarcastic and of course, I don't have any plans to work, I just want to give them my money while they grow it for me which will give me enough time to look for Max and make sure that my plan is successful. But here they are destroying my plan, the best thing to do is to look for another company that is willing to accept my proposal. You know what I don't want to have anything to do with you people as well, all I have to do is to look for another company that is willing to do business, I told them and stood up to leave cause am beyond pissed off.

But their laughter halted my steps, why are they laughing did I say something funny that they are laughing this hard. What's funny? I can't remember cracking a joke, I asked them. You just proved us right by what you just uttered now, if you are not truly a novice then you will not make that statement of going to another company, the other guy that has been silent all this while said. What do you mean? I asked them cause am confused about what they are blabbing about. It's a well-known fact that anybody that we turned down can never be accepted by any other company, so I will advise you to look for something else to do like opening a beauty salon or you go back home and continue spending Daddy's money, The guy on the left said with that annoying smile on his face. They are in no position to tell me to go back to where I came from, I came here on my own and am going to leave on my own without any fool telling me to do. I know that I already lost on this business issue but am not going to leave without them getting the taste of my tongue.

You know what you can shove your lousy company up your ass and you, I said pointing at the guy on the left cause he is the most annoying of them all. You kept on talking about the way I spend my father's money, I understand your pain cause it is a miserable feeling when you look back at your life, you realise that the money that your father is supposed to use and better your life, he wasted it on women and drugs and you feel so bitter whenever you see others enjoying the fruit of their father's labour, I said to him. From how red his face is at the moment, I know that I strike a chord. I left the lounge with my head held high knowing that I left a bitter medicine behind for them to drink.
