Xavier stood up to leave, and Lia said, "You're leaving?"
"Yes," he replied, his demeanor becoming cold once again. "You don't need to see me off."
With that, he grabbed his car keys and headed for the door.
Lia wanted to say something, but she didn't know what to say.
As Xavier walked out, she couldn't help but wonder what went wrong.
Had she said something to offend him?
Or was he just having a bad day?
She knew that her boss was a complicated man, prone to mood swings and temper tantrums. But she couldn't help but feel a little disappointed that their conversation had ended on such a sour note.
