Infiltration

..

Inside the building.

"Haha! And that's a full house!" A man laughed as the others slammed the table.

They were busy playing cards.

"Tch, lucky bastard." They all mumbled, watching the winner scoop up all the money.

One man guarding the door then spoke.

"Shouldn't we be more on edge? Tombstone will skin us alive if this goes wrong..."

One of Tombstone's lackeys was currently having a meeting with someone from Alchemax to finalise the deal. It should already have been finished by now.

Instead of playing cards like the rest, he had been doing his job seriously as he was only recruited a few weeks ago.

The rest of the men at the table exchanged amused glances before erupting into laughter.

"Bahaha! Relax, rookie," said one of the older men, still chuckling.

"Haha! You're a little new here, but do you honestly believe anyone has the balls to attack this base? My 2 years working here and nothing ever goes wrong."

"Yeah, what he said," another chimed in, shuffling the deck lazily. "Alchemax deal's almost done, anyway. Just chill out and come play some cards. Besides, if anyone's dumb enough to try something, the guys outside will deal with them. We got it easy in here."

The man guarding the door sighed helplessly before losing to temptation. His legs were hurting a little so he might as well join.

"Yeah... I guess your right..."

Unbeknownst to them, shadows could be seen flickering inside the building.

...

"Aren't they lively?" Felicia whispered to Sol.

They were currently inside the building, observing the men playing cards. Infiltrating their base had been so easy it was laughable. They probably never even thought of the possibility of two people sneaking in.

Felicia's amused expression then shifted as her eyes gleamed ominously. She reached for her weapons holstered to her waist and took out two daggers.

Seeing this, Sol grabbed her wrist. "What are you doing?"

Felicia turned and showed a confused expression. "Isn't it obvious? I'm going to kill them."

Sol was a bit stunned. However, as he recalled her words and expression previously, he quickly realised.

'This version of Felicia is not only a thief, but also a trained assassin?! Then... her grudge with Tombstone. She probably wants revenge against him.' Sol contemplated. Looking at her gear, it should have been obvious. She had lethal weapons at different places of her body.

He didn't think burglary and theft requires you to have that many weapons...

Sol wouldn't be surprised if her shoes had those extendable blades thingy that shoots out at the heel and can be used to kick and pierce someone to death.

Sol spoke quietly, but his voice was firm. "Not a chance. We can't kill them, we don't even know if they are truly bad people." Sol had his morals. He wouldn't kill someone indiscriminately. Call him spineless or an idiot, but he will never use his powers in such a way. Of course, he wouldn't be sparing truly despicable villains.

If such irredeemable villains lived, countless more will die. He remembered that one quote, "If you kill a killer, the number of killers remain the same."

However, he thought it was false.

So what if he was a killer?

As long as he was the only killer left, the world would sound like a much nicer place.

For now, if he doesn't know if they were truly evil or not, why not just break every bone in their body like Batman?

Felicia sighed, but she smiled softly. "Hahh... you're such a typical hero. Well, if it makes you feel better, I'll use these." She sheathed her daggers back before taking out needles from within her pouch attached to her waist.

"Needles with poison. Paralyses them for a few hours. Is this okay, Spider?" She rolled her eyes and dragged out her voice. She was obviously a bit displeased.

Sol nodded but was grateful that she listened. "Thanks. I mean it." He could somewhat emphasise with her. He didn't know what she went through, but for her to grow up like this, she likely had a story.

Felicia gave a small sound as she turned.

With a quick flick of her hands, she launched 6 needles, each penetrating into their necks.

Their bodies immediately stiffened as their vision became blurry. All of their heads eventually collapsed onto the table, none of them having the ability to even move their fingers.

She yawned with indifference as she continued deeper into the building.

Seeing her leave, Sol went to a different path. The plan was that he beats up everyone in the building whilst she goes to steal something.

He gave her one last look before also submerging himself in the shadows.

He trusted her abilities, especially after that performance.

...

"Wait! Please–!"

The man was interrupted as a fist came flying to his face, knocking him out cold.

Sol looked around.

Countless unconscious bodies were scattered in the room.

"This guy should be the last one..." He mumbled. He had went through each floor and took them out swiftly.

All that was left was the floors beneath. It even goes underground.

He decided not to deal with the guys outside. They constantly have to provide checks on their radio every 15 minutes.

If he knocked them out, it would quickly reveal them. So, he left them for last until Felicia sorted everything out.

Once he webbed everyone in the room up, he quickly made his way to the bottom floors.

...

Felicia held the flash drive, her lips curling.

Beside her were two men that were slumped over the table. Both were paralyzed, needles still embedded in their necks, their faces frozen in shock. Their eyes darted around, the only part of their bodies still able to move. Their eyes locked onto one figure standing casually.

Felicia gave a mocking smile.

She waved the flash drive in front of their faces. "Thank you so much for this gift~ "

This flash drive contained all the information about the new drug and location it was being transported from. And she snatched it right from them.

After getting what she was after, she quickly left. She knew she will be discovered soon. She didn't have an infinite supply of those needles, and had only two left.

The paralysed men would get discovered soon by the others and they'll quickly realise someone was infiltrating their base.

As expected, when she was on her way out from the lower floor, many armed people were running about.

All of them had serious expressions and was searching for the culprit.

Felicia smiled. Too bad they were already too late.

She eventually made her way back to surface level, using the shadows to silently move undetected. The weather was perfect for such an infiltration.

It was far from night time, yet the grey clouds made the city darker and gloomy. And with this heavy downpour, detecting sounds became even more difficult.

As a thief, she knew this kind of weather and time was the best.

Night time was when all the guards are most vigilant.

And midday was hard for sneaking around due to the sun. However, it also meant the guards would be more relaxed and less cautious.

And with this rain, it made things even easier.

With all these factors helping her, sneaking and stealing this item didn't take that much effort.

As she was about to exit the building, she encountered some people guarding the entrance.

However, before she could act, a shadow dropped down from the ceiling.

Sol grabbed the two guards with his symbiote and flung them to the wall. Their bodies crashed with a loud thud, quickly losing consciousness.
