The World is Not as Terrible as You Think

"Subaru-chi, will you really not come with me?"

"I'm already said 'No'. I won't change my mind. And, you're probably not thinking of anything decent. Going together with you is certainly trouble."

"It's not! Subaru-chi, having such prejudice on me is bad."

"Thinking you're good is bad. Having prejudice is normal."

"Ah~~ I'm hurt. That's so mean. Then... Nagi-chin, want to come?"

This invitation made all the people present turn their attention at Izaya and Nagito, two trouble-makers going out together?! What do they want?!

"Um... I don't have much to anyways. I'll go. I want to see if there's someone who could give me such bright hope appear today."

The two didn't mind the alarmed companions and proceeds outside.

"That's it! I'm currently chatting with 'Miss Magenta"~ We have schedule for double suicide today."

Nagito gaze at Izaya. Of course, he sees that he didn't plan to die at all. That 'Miss Magenta' will probably also live. Nagito's interest was up as he look at Izaya who's currently calling Armed Detective Agency for an entrustment. Armed Detective Agency, those are definitely people with talents full of hope!

"Ah... we receive such call earlier. And the earliest possible date of their move is also today."

Haruno Lirako, an Armed Detective Agency clerk, answered Yosano Akiko. Haruno is still new in Detective Agency but she's good at adapting at the work quickly. The current Armed Detective Agency is lacking people so most members will need to do their share at every entrustment.

Edogawa Ranpo, the only real 'detective' on Armed Detective Agency, take a look at the piece of information filed by Haruno. He's interest was arose so he pick up his glasses and use his (disguise) Ability: Super Reasoning, an Ability to see through everything in just a few seconds. Ranpo was actually not a Gifted but rather an incredibly smart detective trained for reasoning by his parents in early age.

Because of this, Ayanaka Rui makes sure that she won't show any related clue about her avatar creation during early times. It was a relief that it wasn't a real Ability of figuring everything out of nothing.

"That girl who will be kidnap today... is planning to take suicide."

Ranpo who put the clues together give his conclusion. Because there are many missing clues available, he wasn't able to see the bottom about this case. Ranpo was hooked and tells Yosano to go out with him for this entrustment.

"Miss Magenta" was a girl who's living her life normally until a year ago. One day, she receive a mail letter of pictures of her father cheating with other woman. She started to feel disgusted of the "happy family" that was always normal to her before. She keep this in for herself for 6 months before finally decided to tell her mother.

She put the photos on a letter and leave it on the mailbox. She watch her mother pick this up and take it to the house. Her mother's reaction was not what she expected. The "happy family" still continue to dine together normally and she didn't know if her mother secretly talks to her father or simply turn her blind eyes in it. This lead her to depression.

A forum for people with suicidal thoughts lead her to meet "Mr. Nakura ". Someone who had similar experience with her. She ended up courageously agreeing to his invitation to die together. It might sound like a stupid idea, but at that time, she think that this was perfect for her to finally disappear. Now, she's currently waiting for "Mr. Nakura" at the meeting place.

"Miss Magenta?"

The moment the guy approach, she was instinctively sure that this wasn't "Mr. Nakura" that she's chatting with. But, thinking that she's going to die anyway, she pretend not to noticed and go with him.

The man lead her to a van parked in an alley. As soon as they approach the van, she was pushed and stuffed with drugged handkerchief that made her lose conscious.

"It's here, Yosano-san!"

Ranpo pointed at an abandoned building. The two sneaked in and found the group that's currently trying to bind the girl who's unconscious. Yosano who was the one with enough training in fights confront the human traffickers.

"Ah... As powerful as expected, Armed Detective Agency."

"You are...?"

Ranpo who give an inquiring look and the tall peach-white haired guy, From the clues present, this young man shouldn't be with the traffickers but being here also means that he's somehow connected to this case.

"A viewer. Someone I know made an appointment with someone today and I came together to watch. Also... I wanted to see you. Such overwhelming talent! Ah~ I was so lucky that someone like me can meet you in person."

"You're a strange guy."

During the confrontation, "Miss Magenta" started to wake up. It maybe that the drug was weak or it wasn't inhaled much, she became conscious before long. "Miss Magenta" who was frightened by the scene upfront wriggles her arms and feet that wasn't properly tied yet and got free. After doing so, she rush upstairs uneasily. Confused of the current turn off events, even she didn't know the logic behind her actions. She just go up, and up, and up, until she reached to roof top.

"Miss Magenta?"

A boys appeared from the shadows of the roof top calls her so. In doubt if he was really "Mr. Nakura" or not, she rudely inquire if what he said was true. During the talk, she realized that he may be real and she was probably saved thanks to this guy. But as their exchange continues the weirder she felt.

"How did you know?"

"Because I was the one who had you kidnapped, Miss Magenta. I'm also the one who had you saved."

"I don't get it..."

"You were going to kill yourself, but somehow regretted being scared when you got kidnapped... But, if you were to resist, then you'd be contradicting your will to die... So you decided to accept this as your fate, but you're actually relieved when you're saved. I wanted to see the expression on your face after all that."

Izaya express his love towards humanity. The actions and feelings that they show when life goes up and down are simply fantastic. After he finished his speech, he taunted "Miss Magenta" for being the selfish one who only think about herself without trying to understand her own parents despite not knowing what the real reason for their actions.

Was her father really cheating? What if it was just photos deliberately taken in ambiguous angle? Why did her mother didn't say anything? Did she feel bad but can't say anything? Maybe out of trust for her husband? Or maybe she considers her child's future and try not to make a fuse?

Izaya points out a blood stain floor from the roof top explaining that many people died here to commit suicide. The height of the building was high that it made "Miss Magenta" scared.

"You think you're special, don't you? Well, you're not. Everyone's the same. There's no one who can live their whole life being completely uncorrupted. I mean, you have at least one or two secrets, don't you? Have you ever thought why are you so good and your parents are so bad?"

"Well..."

"If you'd kindly give a turn to answer, it's because if you're cheating on someone or being cheated on... everyone laughs at the bad jokes and eat over-sweet boiled vegetables."

Pissed off, "Miss Magenta" tries to slap Izaya but was dodged. She felt her body falling down due to the movement, Izaya grab her hand in a position where she could see the ground clearly ahead. She could feel the fear climbing her body, thinking she will be a mare stain of blood like the one downstairs. He didn't drop her and pull her back safely.

"I'm glad I could see the full and awkward spectrum of your emotions today. I'm not really interested in your problems, but how you behave when you're worrying. By the way, your behavior was as boring as I expected. I guess that's because I knew from the start that you didn't want to die. Bye then. I had fun, Miss Magenta~"

"Miss Magenta" look at Izaya who leave the roof top after uncovering her shameful thoughts. A deep regret out of humiliation welled up into her. She stares at the blood stain again and jumped.

"Yosano-san!"

"On it!"

As soon as they rushed out, they know that thy won't make it. However, Yosano Akiko is a rare Gifted that can immediately heal someone's wounds (although the patient need to be half dead as a requirement for activation).

The girl was rescued by Yosano, but for someone who choose to die, she can't help but ask why they save her.

Ranpo fixed his glasses knowing the reason for the series of events. He can't help but get mad towards the girl (but more mad to Izaya who was pulling the strings).

"Hey! Don't just thinks everything is as terrible as you think! This why stupid people are really..."

Yosano didn't know what exactly happened but she was aware that this girl jump for suicide. She pats her head and just say:

"If you can't solve your problem by yourself, go ask for help."

The words from the two touches the "Miss Magenta's" heart.
