Kyle's P.O.V

I held her hand and dragged her out of the room. She didn't open her eyes out of fear. That's it, that's how I always wanted it to be. I wanted to be feared and be served by people. I wanted to feel like a king because that's what I was. I smirked at her shivering state as if she would fall if I didn't hold her. I felt sorry somewhere in my cold heart but was enjoying the power. We reached the attic which was nothing more than a small room with dusty old things. I decided to shut her in there, that's the only way I can punish her. I laughed, making her open her trembling eyes. "Kyle where are we? Why have you brought me here? Please forgive me! I promise I won't let this happen again. I'm tired I want to sleep." She turned to go back when I grabbed her hand and pushed her inside the room. "You're sleeping here, and don't you dare make a noise, or I'll punish you in the worst way possible." I gave her a hateful scowl and locked the door. I heard her silent weeping but I knew that's the only way I can satisfy my ego. I went to my room and laid on the bed, trying to sleep. "You're at mistake brother." Jason's voice rang through my ears. I looked at him with cold eyes returning the stern look he was giving me. "Don't poke your nose in matters that aren't yours to deal with. She's my wife. I can punish whenever I feel a need to." I turned my face to the other side. Jason came near the bed, sitting beside my legs. "I know I'm no one to tell you what to do, but she won't last long if you didn't stop doing this. You need her. You need her trust. She'll help you with your weakness. Don't you want to be free from these demons inside? They'll end you. They'll make you weak and dead. She's your salvation, embrace her." He gave me a sad smile hoping that I would go and get her. But I wasn't someone who's going to beg and ask forgiveness. "You're good at lectures Jay. But my dear brother, I'm in no way interested in that statue of pity. My heart beats for the only and she's my only salvation."

Four years back, I met the love of my life, Maria. We were best friends in college and became a couple at university. Everything was perfect. We were called the ideal couple. Everyone adored us. I loved spending my days and nights with her. She was a girl with a beautiful heart. Her goofiness made her charming and adorable. She was the daughter of a policeman and was quite independent. I was ready to propose to her. I knew I needed her more than anything in my life. Everything was set up. I had booked a restaurant for our proposal ceremony. She was going to arrive soon. I never knew that it was going to be the last time I'll be seeing her. I was waiting impatiently. The clock struck at 10 pm. She should've been there by 9. Why was it taking her so long? I was thinking of all the possible ways she could be late when suddenly my phone rang, I picked up and heard her mother crying and sobbing. She told me the news of her death. She told me that she had drowned herself in the nearby river under the bridge and her body has not been found. My heart shattered. My whole world faded. I was drowning too. I felt suffocated. Why Maria why? Why did you do it? She never hid anything from me. I wanted to know the reason but her mother hung up before I could ask. What was the reason that made her do such a horrible thing? Wasn't I the person she could've trusted? She could've told me what troubled her and I would've brought the whole world at her feet. That's the day I decided never to love. Never to share my heart, my body, and my soul. She's the only girl I ever loved and ever wanted. No one can take that position.

"Brother, please get her out of there. She doesn't deserve this." Jason was still sitting there trying his best to persuade me. "It wasn't my fault that she was married to me. I told you guys not to force me for marriage but you didn't listen. Now don't force me again or I'll go harsh with you." I kept my face to the other side, staring at the window. The moon shone brightly between the clouds creating a while halo. "I'm sorry Jason. I can't love her. She might be a good person. But I can't accept her. I only have Maria in my heart. What can I do?" I closed my eyes trying to hide the tears that threatened to fall. "Brother, she's gone. You have to move on. You can't bring her back. She's buried in the merciless waters. Try to forgive and forget. Serena doesn't deserve this." He stood up and came closer to me. His fingers ran through my hair. His worried eyes shone in the moonlight making him look so cute and angelic. My dear brother. Someone I loved the most besides Maria. I decided to give this girl a chance. He was right she doesn't deserve this. She has certain rights as my wife. I should be lenient with her. I got up and went outside the room earning a big smile from Jason. This boy sure knows how to convince people. I reached the attic suddenly feeling guilty. I quickly unlocked the door and went inside. There she was, half-conscious on the floor. The thought of picking her up in my arms made my cheeks burn but there was no choice left. She wasn't moving at all. Her chest rose and fell as she slept soundly. She looked like a baby. Wait, what am I thinking?! I quickly snapped out of my thoughts and went to pick her up. I held her in my arms. She still didn't move a muscle. Wow, what a sound sleeper. I took her to my room and laid her on the bed gently. I wrapped the blanket around her as it was a cold night. Sleep well stranger, may we become friends someday...

Serena's P.O.V

I felt the warm sun rays over my eyes as I blocked them with my hand. Wait for what? I'm in bed again? Wasn't I supposed to be in the attic? I was so confused yet relieved that Kyle forgave me. Huh, what an arrogant man. Why did he even marry me if he loves his pride more than anything? I got out of bed hoping to see my mother in law at breakfast since it was a quarter past 7. I quickly took a shower and took out a comfy dress to wear. It was a light pink blouse with a long faun colored skirt. I quickly put on a little makeup to look fresh after a disastrous night. I went downstairs trying to look as graceful as possible. I saw my in-laws along with my husband having breakfast. I greeted them good morning earning surprised stares from them. "Come, my dear, what a pleasant day it is today. Our daughter would be accompanying us at breakfast. I'm so happy." She smiled. Although she wasn't being rude or anything I still felt inferior. I quickly picked up a toast and started buttering it. I was getting nervous. "Kyle, why don't you take her somewhere for your honeymoon?" His father said with a warm smile. "Sorry I'm a bit busy, I won't be able to give her much t-" His father cut him out, "You're going with her and I won't hear any excuses. I'm canceling all your meetings." Kyle looked at him defeatedly then resumed eating. "Good luck sis and have fun and don't forget to bring me some souvenirs." Jason chirped making me giggle. "Sure! Thank you." This boy was nothing like his brother. I wish Kyle was like him too. I just hope to win his heart. One day, your heart will crave only me, Mr. Perfect. I smiled at my thought and resumed eating.
