Chapter 57: Mission Reward

I sent Jack to scout for the steel rhinos so we can continue our attack the next day. He was unable to find any rhino crashes near our camp and hence the next few days become a bit difficult for us as we have to trek for a few hours to get to our destination.

Kamran didn't allow me to fight any Seargent stage monsters. He allowed me only to fight private stage monsters and that too with the two archers just like our first hunt.

I asked Jack to help me in times of need when my life was in danger. I had to call her and request her to use the 'wind sword' AOR attack a few times in the next 3 days. It helped to kill the monsters that were hard for me to kill.

We collected a total of 153 monster cores in those 4 days we were on the hunt and a lot of raw materials that were divided equally for the entire squad. There were a few injuries that had to be taken care and we had a doctor ready in the camp to handle them.

I was shocked when Kamran gave me more potion of the raw materials and I wanted to reject it. But he said that it was because of me that they were able to collect these many monster cores in just a few days and that is why I was given more. He also mentioned that all the warriors have agreed to this.

Since the guild only needed the monster cores, we can have the raw materials that we harvested from the steel rhinos and the other wild monsters we hunted for these 4 days. I accepted the raw materials that were given to me politely after the explanation given to me by Kamran.

I tried to learn the AOE attack 'wind sword' for those 4 days, but I was unable to learn it. I didn't know how to circulate my mana to create wind swords from the surrounding air. I have to get a skill book as soon as I reach the city to learn it.

We boarded the armored car and arrived at the Tanip city Warrior guild on the 5th day. I went directly to Hoger's office to submit the mission report. I waited outside the office for Kamran to submit the report since I am not a guild member.

After a few minutes, Kamran opened the office door and called me inside the office to have a word with Hoger. He has a smile on his face as usual as I know him. The only times I didn't see him with a smile on his face is during the training and hunting.

"It's good to know that you played vital on the mission to collect steel rhino monster cores," Hoger said to me as soon as I entered the office. I didn't do anything except scout the area with the help of Jack.

"Jack was the vital part of the mission sir, not me," I told him the truth with my head down as I didn't want to see his disappointment. I already accepted the raw materials for the role he played. I didn't want to get any more.

"You are Jack's trainer. So you should be proud of what your pet did. Plus, you also saved the squad members a few times by fighting monsters that were above your stage and risking your life. It is what I expect from you," Hoger said still wearing a smile on his face.

I didn't know what to say to him as what he told me was true. I did risk my life a few times to alert the squad about the surprise attack of wild animals. I also got benefits for the risk. Now I am circulating the 11th move in the 1st set of the mana exercise.

"I was informed that you were given a larger portion of the raw materials harvested during the mission. If I may ask, what are you planning to do with it?" Hoger asked me and this time with a serious face.

"I am planning to give the steel panda's skin to Joe so he can create a crossbow using it for Kathy. She is going to be graduated in 2 weeks," I said to him with a smile as I know he would agree to it.

"What reward do you want for completing this mission and playing an important role in it?" Hoger asked me. Kamran came beside me and pressed my shoulder before I could answer that question.

"He is trying to learn the AOE attack "wind sword" for a few days now but is still unable to. I believe the skill book for it will be the best award for him at this point," Kamran told Hoger and winked at me with a smile on his face.

"That is a good skill to learn Allen, but the skill book is costly since it is a Seargent stage skill. I don't think you will be able to use it more than once in your current stage," Hoger said to me before shaking his head.

Now I understood why I was unable to see Jack using this skill more than once in a short time. It will almost deplete the entire mana of the private-stage monsters and humans. Since it will take time to absorb mana from the surrounding, it is impossible to use it more than once every few hours.

"I will give you a skill book for a single attack. It is a Corporal Stage skill called 'Pure Strike'. It will allow you to slash your enemy with double your attack power and you can use it at least twice before your mana is depleted." He said to me and spoke to someone through the guild communicator to bring the book.

I have already given the guild communicator to Hoger when I left the guild, I am yet to get another communicator since I went straight to the mission before purchasing a new communicator.

"Here, have this communicator as a gift from me," Hoger said as he gave me a brand-new communicator to me. It is a communicator that was released recently to the public and is currently the most advanced communicator available to the public.

I wanted to politely reject it as it costs too much for me and I can't afford it. But I know Hoger will never accept no for an answer and I took the communicator from his hand and wore it on my left hand next to the golden shield bracelet.
