Chapter 56: 1st Mission - 4

I was so tired, I went to a tree and sat beneath it to take a rest. The others in the squad started harvesting the raw materials from the rhino they killed. Kamran collected the monster cores for which we came on this mission.

I was about to drink the stamina potion given to me by Kamran when I saw a shadow snake moving slowly toward one of the warriors who was harvesting the raw materials near the tree.

I immediately unsheathed my sword and tried to cut the snake in two pieces to save that warrior. But the snake flew a few meters and hit the ground after my attack landed on it. Everyone became vigilant and looked toward me and saw the snake approaching me at its full speed.

I saw Gieger running toward me to protect me, but it will not be able to reach me in time to protect me. Jack was on patrol to make sure no monsters attack us when we are harvesting materials and taking rest, so it will be too late for him to come to my aid.

I got ready to attack the snake and also infused my golden sword with mana. The sword was covered with the wind element making it sharper. I waited for the snake to come close and when it was close enough for me to attack, I again hit it with a horizontal slash which threw it toward Gieger.

Gieger caught the snake and smashed it on the ground immediately crushing it into a paste. I drank the stamina potion immediately so I can protect others while they are doing their tasks provided by Kamran.

Kamran looked at me to make sure I am okay. I nodded my head to let him know I am fine and I patted Gieger's hand as a thank you note for helping me in killing the shadow snake.

Once the harvest is done, Kamran gave us 30 minutes to rest before we could move on to the next crash of rhinos to hunt them. Everyone found a tree and sat beneath it to rest. Kamran came to me so we can rest together.

I didn't need rest since I already drank a stamina potion to energize me, so I started to patrol the area with others pets. I patrolled for 10 minutes before Kamran ordered me to get some rest which I had to do.

After 30 minutes we started moving towards the 2nd destination and it took us an hour to reach since we had to fight a few monsters that came our way there. Our pets took care of those monsters and we observed the fight to make sure that our pets doesn't get injured during the fight.

When we reached our destination, we saw 3 rhinos all on mid-level Seargent stage drinking water from the pond. Kamran ordered me to stay out of the fight and split the other =9 warriors into groups of 3 to hunt them.

He ordered me to stay hidden and to observe the fight to learn new methods of sword handling. I was upset that I will not be included in the fight, but agreed to it so it will help me to change my fighting style if required in the future.

I also surveyed the surroundings along with the pets to make sure that no other monsters came to interrupt the hunt because of the sound made by it.

All of them started attacking the rhinos after agreeing on the plan of attack. I on the other hand checked my mana purifier and found that my mana purity was at 65.4%. I was shocked to see that since the new purifier should have to start purifying the mana from the beginning. But it looks like, for some reason, this purifier continued from the previous purification.

Still, I was using my mana purifier always when I am awake unconsciously as it has become a habit for me. I only stopped the mana exercise as it was too hard for me after the death of Serina. I was only able to reach 4th move in the 1st set in my previous hunt. I still can't continue the mana exercise for some reason when I am not in a fight.

After observing the fight I realized how wrong I was to think I have use the sword with both my hands to increase my attack power. It does increase the attack power but with a sacrifice. There are a lot of openings I could find when observing a two-handed swordsman which will be leather if they are not fighting a 3 on 1 fight.

I decided from then to use my sword with one hand only with my shield on another hand so it will help me defend longer even though the battle will be lengthier.

The battle only lasted for a few minutes as the attack power of the groups was far superior to the previous battle as they were fighting fewer monsters.

They harvested the raw materials and monster cores. I still observed them to make sure no monsters attacked us during the harvest. I was happy that we can go to the camp soon today and rest.

Suddenly a leopard came out of nowhere and started to growl and prepared itself to attack one of the warriors who was harvesting the raw materials. A bunch of swords made up of wind strikes it and it fell to the ground and died instantly.

I looked up and saw Jack hovering a few meters above the ground looking at the dead leopard. Everyone became vigilant and prepared to attack Jack thinking that it is a wild monster. Kamran stepped in and said "At ease people, it is our scout Allen's pet. Thank it for saving us time in fighting the Leopard."

Everyone relaxed after hearing it. I went and checked the leopard's corpse and was surprised to know it is a mid-level Seargent stage monster. Jack is still a low-level private stage, but he has the skill to kill a monster that is more than a stage above it.

I harvested the leopard's raw materials and the monster core while others were harvesting their hunt. Once it is done, we started our trek back to the camp so we can rest and be prepared for the next day.

We reached the camp within an hour, thanks to Jack who scouted for the shortest and easiest route back. I went straight to the training area so I could learn the AOE attack that was demonstrated by Jack when it killed the leopard.
