"What!?" The room descended in a mix of shock and panic upon hearing the words of the general. The top 10 heroes of America, who were trained to control their emotions still couldn't help but have an extreme reaction to the words. Some of the people looked at the general in disbelief, as if asking what he said was a mere joke.

"Are you joking, General?" Cathleen asked, verbalising what everyone else was wondering.

"I wish I was…" The general let out a long and heavy sight. From the wrinkles across his face, the purple shade below his eyes, and the fact he looked 20 years younger made it clear he was very stressed, "But I am entirely serious here. Tests run show that before these people were turned into "Apostles", they had normal quirks, but it seems that this new power completely eliminates the quirk factor in the DNA, replacing it with something else entirely. This is what allows them to turn into those…monsters."

"Jesus fucking christ…" One of the heroes said, burying his head in his hands.

'What the fuck…Is this canon?' Akira questioned himself, before shaking his head. The moment he arrived in the world, canon was thrown out of a 10 story building. It didn't matter either way, if this was a new power that threatened the world, then he would take care of it himself.

The general interlocked his fingers and leaned forward, a glare in his eyes as he looked at everyone in the room, "The only people who know this information are the people in this room, and a few trusted others. And in no circumstances is it to change without clearance, this must be kept a secret. If word gets out of this information, this country, no, the world will fall into disarray."

"Anyway, moving back to operation Swift. There's 10 main bases we managed to find, perfect for the top 10 heroes. Cathleen, you will be sent to the base in Texas, it's the biggest one according to the information, so the most populated probably. Kill everyone you see."

"Dan, you will be sent too…"

"Homelander, you will be sent too…"

"And finally, Eagleman, you will be sent to the base in Montana. It's a small building, but still listed as a key area by our informant. You will also be sent there with Akira, Cathleen's former intern for any extra backup you may need"

Eagleman nodded, taking the folder in his hand, not even sparing a glance at Akira, probably because he didn't even know him.

After announcing that, the general had a few more things to go through before the meeting was adjourned. Once again, he urged for what he said in this room to be kept national secret, and to not even reveal it in your final breath.

Akira shot up from his seat, eyeing Eagleman who had just gotten up and was beginning to get lost in the crowd of bodies. He began walking with a brisk pace, intent on catching up to him and introducing himself, but an all too familiar face stopped him.

"Akira! How are you doing?" Cathleen greeted, her massive body getting in the way of Akira's sight.

'Dammit Cath, I know you're eager to greet me, but now's not the time.' Akira sighed, putting on a smile. "I've been doing good, and yourself? I see you have a tan now."

"Oh, yeah. I do like to get the occasional tan, switch things up. By the way, what was that thing you told me on the phone, you're babysitting a kid now?" There was a playful smirk on her lips.

Akira nodded. "I am. I would tell you all about it, but I'm afraid I'm still slightly recovering from the shock of the meeting. I am still trying to process it to be honest, it's all a blur."

"Ah, yeah…sure." Cathleen scratched her head, "I'm not surprised…to hear about such a power that isn't a quirk, it changes things. Well, I'll see you later, I'm gonna go catch up with David!"

Akira left Cathleen to do that, sending a prayer in his heart to David. He would catch up with Cathleen later, but first his main priority was trying to find Eagleman. First impressions were important.

He skipped through the hallway that they came through, moving past body after body. At the end of the hallway, he spotted the man of the hour, about to hop in an all black car.

"Wait!" Akira shouted to no avail. He was running faster now and close enough to the car to hear the engine roar in his ears. Just before the car left, Akira knocked on the window, loud enough to be clearly heard but not enough to be considered aggressive.

The windows rolled down, revealing Eagleman who inspected him with a sharp eye, "Yes?" He asked politely.

"Ah, sorry for the interruption. My name is Akira, the hero who had been assigned to go on the mission with you. Can we speak in the car?" Akira said sheepishly.

"Very well, come in." Eagleman leaned over and opened the door, allowing Akira to enter the car.

"Thank you. I just thought it would be better to get acquainted before we go on a mission together."

"That's understandable, well I suppose I'll start. My name is Ramesh, but I typically go by my hero name, Eagleman." Eagleman held out his clawed hand.

Akira shook it, replying, "I'm Akira Endo, from Japan. I don't really have a hero name, so just call me Akira." He bowed respectfully.

"Well it's nice to meet you Akira, I do hope this mission goes without a hitch." Eagleman put the folder on his lap and opened it, "I'll take you through a few details if you don't mind?"

Akira shook his head, and Eagleman continued, "Very well. Location of the base, Montana, to be more specific…the town of Augusta. The operation will take place at 3pm on the 15th, and will be completely covert." He looked towards Akira, "Does that sound good?"

"Sounds perfect," Akira smoothly replied, "I'm free any day, anytime if it's to beat up these religious maniacs. I've done it before, I can do it again."

"Oh?"

"Yeah, I fought one of those priests. While Cathleen was fighting in Washington, I was fighting in Texas. He certainly wasn't as strong as the one my mentor faced, but he was still very strong."

"That's interesting. Is there any way you can tell me your quirk? It would make the planning a whole lot easier. I'm sure you know mine already. I have an eagle mutation, giving me the characteristics of an eagle. I have increased strength, speed, flight, and some very sharp claws."

"I'm afraid anything to do with my quirk is…classified. Only a select few people know, and I'd be getting into trouble if I told you. I will tell you that it functions similarly to Cathleen's, so my quirk is very versatile."

"I see, then I think this will be a whole lot easier. If your quirk is similar to Cath's, then you should be able to break locks, see where people are, check for any secret rooms, look for any specific materials. You can do that right?"

"Yes, yes, yes, and…yes." Akira smirked. "So that's a yes to everything. Just tell me what to do, and I'll do it."

Eagleman smiled, "Now I see why you were chosen to go along on the mission. I was quite curious when your name was mentioned, now I see why." He said.

"I'm looking forward to working with you Akira. You seem like a good kid."

"Likewise. Despite being in the top 10, I can tell you are very humble, more than most."

Eagleman chuckled, "I have been through many things, fought so many fights, lost a good portion of them too, that's why I am the way I am."

"You lost fights? Lot's of them?" Akira asked.

"Oh yes, too many to count," Eagleman nodded, "Let me tell you something Akira, my quirk wasn't always strong. It took me years to start walking, double that to run. It took incredulous amounts of time to learn things such as using my claws, wings, and my body in general. I am an eagle with a human physique, so I had to learn customs for both eagles and humans with little to no guidance."

"Wow…that must have been hard."

"It was. By the time people were training their quirks I was still learning how to even use my body." Eagleman stared straight ahead, his eyes a myriad of emotions, lost in thought. He snapped out of his trance, shaking his head. "Anyway, enough about that, where should the driver drop you off?"

"Around 52nd street, that's where my hotel is if you don't mind."

Akira got out of the car, exchanging goodbyes with Eagleman. As he watched the black SUV drive off, he smiled to himself.
