Chapter 57

" Kirishima! No! " Mina said as she stared at the screen.

" Kirishima, Yes!! " Kirishima yelled as he pressed the button on his controller with a grin.

" No. "

" NO. "

" NOOOOO!! " Mina yelled as she watched her character get destroyed by a blue shell, allowing Kirishima to pull ahead of her to win the race.

" Hah. Take that!! " Kirishima said as he did his victory dance.

" Redo. I want a redo. " Mina said.

" Hell No. " Kirishima said. He had already lost to Mna multiple times. He finally won, he was going to savor this moment.

Axel watched the drama play out with a smile on his face while trying to hold in his chuckles, but failed as the 2 noticed.

" You should at least smile like that. " Mina said as she looked at Axel. Axel looked at Mina after going back to his usual poker face.

" She's right. It's nice to see you smile so much. Though it's a little weird considering we are so used to your poker face. " Kirishima said.

" True. " Mina said.

" I'll try. " Axel said.

" That's better than nothing. " Mina said with a smile.

They heard the elevator bell, notifying them that someone arrived at the common room. The doors opened as 2 little kids ran towards the coach. Axel already had his arms open for you as they jumped into his arms, hugging him.

" You're awake! " Kota and Eri said as they hugged him with smiles on their faces.

When they heard Axel was in a coma, they were really worried. Though learning about the fact it was because of his quirk did lessen the worry, it didn't help that much.

" You're okay, right? " Kota asked.

" Physically, perfectly fine. Mentally, not so much. " Axel said as the words rolled out of his mouth.

Both of them hugged harder. Axel hugged them back Mandalay walked into the room. She overheard what Axel said and looking at him, she could tell he's going through something after waking up.

" Take this. It should help. " Eri said as she gave Axel a cup of coffee pudding. Axel looked at the cup with wide eyes and had a smile on his face.

" Thanks. It'll help. " Axel said as he hugged Eri. Eri smiled as she hugged back.

Noticing the atmosphere, Mina lightened the mood by suggesting to ay games. Kirishima greed and brought back a ton of games to play. They moved the couch away so they had more space.

It worked. The games were a good distraction from everything. Axel's smiled a lot more during this time, where they all noticed. It was bigger than the smiles he used before and it was contagious.

They noticed the smiles and Axel knew that? but they didn't question why he doesn't want to smile like that or give the suggestion of smiling more often. After all, this only happened after being in a coma due to a villain fight.

" So do you know what happened while you were asleep? " Mandalay asked as she drank her juice while standing next to Axel.

" Yeah. Aizawa informed me. It's the reason why the dorms are so empty. " Axel said.

" Yep. Did you hear about the fact Midoriya, Bakugou, and Todoroki went to intern with Endeavor? " Mandalay asked.

" Yes actually, but what does that have to do with anything? " Axel asked.

" Surprisingly, Endeavor wanted you to intern with him again. " Mandalay said with a smile.

" Really? " Axel asked in surprise.

" Yep. He announced this after Midoriya and Bakugou were allowed to intern with him. I guess he just found you more tolerable than them. " Mandalay said.

" That's nice to hear. " Axel said with a smile which Mandlaay saw as the fact Axel immediately erased the smile from his face back to a neutral one forcefully.

" I recommend not doing any internships for the time being. " Mandalay said seriously.

" I know. I don't think I can go back to doing hero work immediately. " Axel said.

" Good. Once you're ready, you can make a big entrance to tell the world you're back. " Mandalay said.

" Yeah no. " Axel said.

" Meh. it'll still happen. " Mandalay said with a knowing smirk.

" Doubt it. " Axel said.

" Axel. It's your turn. " Eri called out.

Axel got up and went up to them to play the games. They spent the rest of the day playing games before Kota and Eri had to leave with Mandalay. Kirishima, Mina, and Axel decided to watch something on TV before night arrived, soon going to bed.

Axel sat on his bed, staring at the wall in front of him. However, he could " see " much more than that. His quirk changed, permanently having a barrier around the area.

This allowed him to see everything that happened inside. He could tell who was coming to the infirmary like with Recovery girl and Nezu or when Eri, Kota, and Mandalay arrived at the dorm room, allowing him to have his arms open when Eri and Kota ran into the room towards him.

He could tell what Mina and Kirhsima were doing in their rooms at the moment, before stopping. He then focused on the battle between him and Nine.

He still felt uncomfortable from how he acted but instead put his focus on how he used his new ability. Opening his eyes, he focused on his phone that was on his bed.

He watched as the phone telephoned from the bed to his hand. He then telephoned it to his other hand before sending it to his desk and back.

He then made it float in the air before bringing it back to his hand. He then tried ut with his bed, lifting it a few feet off the ground before lowering it back down onto the ground.

This feeling felt nice to him, so natural. He could know everything that was happening inside his barrier, his domain. He smiled at his new abilities and wanted to take them for a test run. So he put away his feelings for how he acted before any for now.

Using his ability, he teleported onto the roof of the dorms and looked at the view. He then walked over to the edge of the dorm roof and stepped over the edge, walking on the side of the wall.

He walked down the wall and flipped before landing on the ground. It was a weird but enjoyable feeling. He could probably walk normally on the ceiling.

Axel wanted to test his abilities more, but that would only attract people's attention. He knew about the cameras at the dorms, which he could find since they were in his domain, and avoided them.

Plus, some of his abilities had to be tested on other people. He flinched at the thought considering the way he acted when facing off against Nine.

He didn't feel like going through that, so he telephoned to his room. He didn't feel sleepy at the moment, so to pass the time, he went through simple barrier structures.

He found out that they got upgraded as well. Their durability had increased by a large margin from before. He continued to this for a few more minutes before laying on his bed, the memories of the fight coming back, playing on loop. Soon enough, he managed to fall asleep, but he knew the memories would come back.

" Hey mom, I'm back from the dead. " Axel said with an awkward smile on his face while inwardly cringing at what he just said, again the words rolling off his tongue.

Axel's mother just stared at her son before walking up to him and hugged him. That one bad line, immediately making things clear for her. She knows her son better than anyone.

Axel just hugged her back before she lead them to the living room.

" Tell me what's wrong. " She said seriously as she looked at her son. Axel looked at her and tried to speak, but the words wouldn't come out.

In the back of his head, he knows that he could just tell her everything and she would understand. She probably wouldn't agree with what he did but she would at least understand, but his worry outweighed the truth.

His mother looked at Axel in understanding. She went through the same process as a kid. She had secrets as well and she was worried that her parents would think differently about her or just not agree with what she did.

When she did finally did, her worries washed away. She hugged her son, rubbing his back to comfort him.

" Take your time. Once you're finally ready, talk to me. I'll always be here for you. " She said.

Axel stated silent, letting out a few tears as he hugged her. They stayed like that for a few minutes before spending the rest of the day, doing their usual mother-son bonding, before Axel had to go back to the dorms.
