Chapter 33

Axel and Shoto breathed in heavily as they stood in front of each other. This was the last day of the internship before they head back to school so Endeavor made them have a rematch.

Quirks were allowed. There are no boundaries. To win, you must make your opponent give up, capture them or make them unconscious.

Axel swung his arm at Shoto with his right hand as Shoto quickly made a pillar of ice underneath him to jump over the attack.

The pillar was cut in half with a clean-cut as Shoto used his flames to make a spear in his hand.

He then threw it towards Axel who dodged the attack by jumping forward. Shoto quickly turned around and used his flames to propel him back as a pillar barrier flew right past him and slammed onto the ground.

Axel rushed towards Shoto who created 2 ice swords and rushed towards Axel. Shoto slashed at Axel who dodged the attack as Shoto kept attacking.

Axel jumped back and made a chain in his hand. He then threw it at Shoto who created ice to slow it down to dodge the attack.

Shoto compressed his flames in his left palm as he looked at Axel.

' Fireblast. '

Sending a blast of fire that transformed into the character for big in Japanese. Axel watched as the attack approached him.

* boom *

The attack hit him as fire spread put to the surroundings around Axel. The ground was scorched as Shoto looked at Axel who was perfectly fine.

Axel was being protected by a skeletal figure made from his barriers. He stopped using the skeletal figure and ran towards Shoto, throwing a punch at Shoto's face. Shoto tilted his head to dodge before retaliating with a punch to Axel's gut.

Axel and Shoto exchanged kicks and punches. Shoto diverted one of Axel's attacks and slammed his left palm to Axel's gut.

He then released a torrent of flames that blasted Axel backward into the wall behind him.

Shoto quickly used his quirk to send ice straight towards Axel. The ice shattered on impact after colliding with the invisible barrier in front of the ice.

Shoto was going to use his ice to make a pathway to get over the barrier but was unable to as he was bound by chains.

He looked down to see the chains become visible as he was hoisted into the air by them and hanged there struggling.

Axel walked out from the wall he smashed into and released the thin barriers he had in his body to protect him from the flames.

"It's always the invisible barriers. " Shoto muttered as Axel put him down on the ground and released the chains.

Axels ability to make his barriers invisible allows him to get the jump on him every time. Finding a way to just find a barrier and then attacking to not give Axel the ability to counter is hard as Axel always beats him.

This only makes Shoto try harder in situations as he keeps trying to improve on how to use his quirk effectively and strategize to win fights.

Axel on the other hand was glad he made a lot of progress. Thanks to Endeavor, he and Shoto went on more patrols with Endeavor to catch more villains. Though Endeavor also worked just as hard in front of Shoto, since he wasn't the one who caught Stain.

This allowed him to test his new move. Making tiny barriers and arranging them, he can create a string. He took inspiration from Best Jeanist for creating the move.

The arm he can make from barriers wasn't used as much on the missions as Axel rethought everything.

Coming to a conclusion he wanted a full avatar but separated the avatar into three stages. The avatar was named Susanoo.

Stage 1 Susanoo was an avatar that was made from barriers resembling human bones. Mainly the ribcage up to the skull. Axel can also create skeletal arms along with it.

Stage 2 was basically like stage 1 but with muscles added to the body with the skin. Stage 2 was stronger than stage 1 but required a lot more energy to use. Axel cant use this effectively so he created stage 1 to compensate till he could.

Stage 3 hasn't been made. The final version of this Susanoo will be a giant avatar that towers over most buildings. However, Axel can't even make this yet as it requires a lot more energy and skill to use. It's still in development.

Axel and Shoto looked at Endeavor who walked up to both of them.

Endeavor held immense pride in how far Shoto has come from a week ago with the use of his flames. The amount of improvement far surpassed Endeavors expectations.

" Both of you have come far. You've improved a lot over this past week and I expect you both to keep improving. " Endeavor said.

Shoto and Axel nodded as Endeavor looked at them. Endeavor acknowledged Axel over the past week as he could see the amount of effort Axel puts into his abilities with his quirk to use it effectively, similar to him.

This ended up creating respect between Axel and Endeavor in terms of how they utilize their quirks, a surprise that Shoto did not see coming. This respect grew when Axel and Endeavor sparred, mostly in hand-to-hand combat, which lead to Endeavor giving the actual advice to Axel, pointing out his mistakes and how to improve.

" Go take a shower and freshen up. It's time for lunch and you need to board your train at 4 pm. " Endeavor said.

" What's there for lunch? " Axel asked.

" Soba and coffee jelly. " Endeavor said as he walked away.

The train ride back to UA was quiet as Shoto was reading a book that he held in his left hand while having ice cream in his right hand. Axel had his eyes closed while listening to calming music.

Arriving at the station, both of them left the train and walked over to Aizawa who was waiting for them.

Aizawa took their hero costumes and placed them in the car. He sat with them inside as the car drove off.

" The week-long internship had now ended. Classes will start tomorrow so make sure you are on time. " Aizawa said.

He then looked at both of them.

" You did well in the situation from Stain. Kept injuries to a minimum with only Iida getting injured the most since he went directly to Stain.

However, try to not make this a habit. " Aizawa said.

Axel and Shoto glanced at each other and looked back at Aizawa.

" Sir, that request is impossible. " Axel said.

" I know. For some reason trouble just likes to follow my class. I just don't want you to go and make the trouble. " Aizawa said.

" We'll try. " Shoto said.

" Good enough, I guess. " Aizawa said in a tried tone.

" How did Shisno do? " Axel asked. Aizawa decided to take Shinso for his choice in the internship. Shinso agreed and has been training with Aizawa for the past week. The training was literal hell but Shinso survived.

" He's doing quite well. After the sports festival, he moved up to class 1-C. As you know. you will have an exam at the end of the month. I'll go over the exam tomorrow in class. If Shinso performs well, he will be moved to either class 1-A or 1-B. " Aizawa said.

" I see. That's good. "

Axel got out of the car and walked to his house as the car drove away.

Knocking on the door, he soon heard footsteps approaching. The door opened as his mother appeared from behind the door.

She brought Axel into a hug with a smile on her face. Axel hugged her back before they stepped inside the house.

" Go change and meet me in the kitchen. I want to hear about everything that happened during the internship. " She said.

" Okay. What are we making? " Axel asked.

" Pasta. " She said with a smile.

Wearing some comfortable clothes, Axel walked into the kitchen and told his mother what happened during the internship with the smell of pasta in the air.
