XXXIV

I woke up to find Aleksi nearby. He was facing away from me reading on his tablet. Without thinking my hand reached out and traced the edge of his wing. It was the first time I had touched one of his wings.That knowledge sent a small thrill through me. His head turned to look at me. "You're awake," he said setting the tablet to the side. The screen was dark now. What had he been looking at? 

"You're here. Why?" I asked. The last few days we had been having a rocky go of it. Our relationship like some sort of roller-coaster with no clear end in sight.
