Volume 2 Episode 26

A sudden shout shook her out from losing consciousness. The shout came from the place where Christian had fallen. April looked at the direction, and saw Christian standing up and saw him pointing at the back of the doran. He had been pointing at the spot that they had focused their all their attack on.

As she looked at the spot, her eyes widened with surprise.

Then she heard Roger, who was also falling to the ground with her, speaking.

"The doran has been wounded."

The words that came out of Roger's mouth shook April out from exhaustion, forcing her to move her body, reigniting her will to fight. It seemed that Roger too had gained his lost confidence, as he quickly maneuvered his body using his lightning powers to land safely. April had used her ice powers to make an ice slide down on the ground, helping them to reduce the impact.

As they both landed without creating any new injuries, Christian had already started running towards the giant monster. He had healed a little bit, although not much during that little period when Roger and April were fighting the doran, and he wielded a huge sword the size of a person, made with fire magic. He had been saving his most effective moves till the end of the tournament, and if possible he was even considering winning without using any one of them. But times change, and he was sure he had to use his most powerful attacks to defeat this humongous creature.

The doran was distracted by the safely landed Roger and April, and didn't notice Christian getting up. He took the opportunity and quickly moved to take position behind the doran. He swung his fire sword as hard as he could, which came crashing down on the doran's injury.

The doran, now aware of the unexpected enemy that sneaked behind it, became enraged and was in pain. Clearly, the attack had worked. The doran swung its huge hind legs to hit Christian. Christian, who had been mostly energy drained because of the previous attack decided to take the hit directly, and tried blocking it with his bare hands, but to no avail. The doran kicked Christian, who flew back hard and rolled on the ground for a while before stopping.

The doran then tried going after Christian but was interrupted by another attack to its injury from Roger. The doran, again enraged at the attacks it was getting, stared madly at Roger's direction, who looked at April and nodded.

Roger then ran with all his might in the opposite direction, with the doran chasing after him. It quickly moved past April without giving her a second glance. April who had moved back to avoid getting hit by the doran, then followed it from behind to try to attack it from the back.

She formed an ice spear out of her hands, and wielded it. Then, she took aim at her target, which was the injury behind the monster, and shot out the spear with all her power. The spear, which encapsulated most of her energy, hit the injury and pierced through its skin which was well known for its toughness.

The doran, surprised at the pain it felt, lost its balance and fell down, but not before turning around and trying to hit April with its legs. April used her ice shield once again to buy time for her to dodge, but she was still hit because of the terrifying speed of the doran. Her shield which was more powerful than before had reduced most of the kick's impact, but it was still powerful nevertheless.

April got knocked back, but Roger used the opportunity to get on the back of the doran, which was surprised by the human climbing on top of it, but it didn't respond fast enough, as Roger quickly called out his most powerful move in his arsenal, the 'Thunder Crusade'.

As the sky turned cloudy, multiple thunderbolts struck from above onto the doran, hitting the injury even more. The doran screamed in pain, and tried shaking its body to try to remove Roger, but he stuck onto its back like a leech.

'Don't let go, not yet!'

He told himself, as he held on as long as he could. The thunderbolts were still hitting the doran, which was still shaking its body and screaming in pain. Roger looked at the direction of Christian, who was slowly getting up. Christian then nodded at Roger, who let go of the monster and got flung over by the doran's movements.

Christian, who had set his eyes on the still shaking doran, then formed the fire sword again, and ran straight towards the doran. The doran also saw the running Christian, and ran in his direction, trying to hit him head-on. As both of the enemies got close enough to hit each other, Christian quickly slid down using his legs to avoid getting hit by the doran, moving underneath its body and emerging from the other side.

The doran figured out its opponent had escaped its attack but Christian was already in front of his target, the giant wound, and swung his sword once again with all his might, slicing through the flesh and hitting the insides.

The doran screamed once again and knocked Christian off its back, but it didn't attack, instead tried to run away. It was faltering, probably because it had lost too much blood. Soon enough, the doran fell down, seemingly unable to get up.

Christian who was pushed away fell down on the ground, only to find the giant beast lying down.

"Did we really?" Roger and April, who had both gotten up as well, looked at the fallen beast with wide eyes.

They had done it.

They had defeated a doran.

They had defeated a monster that even the guild members found hard to deal with.

They conquered a beast that most students wouldn't even dream of fighting.

"Don't celebrate yet." Christian's cold voice interrupted both of their thoughts.

Roger and April both looked at Christian, who had turned to look back at them.

"Did you forget?" He said coldly, as he raised his palms towards the duo.

"We're still enemies."
