After laying low in Alex's manor for a few days, Tony was finally apprehended by Howard, wrapping up the share transfer agreement in the process.
In essence, Tony now held the reins of Stark Industries.
As a notorious playboy, stepping into such a role must have him feeling like he's drowning in luxury, a trait he undoubtedly inherited from Howard.
After all, in the pages of monthly Playboy magazines, there's a curated selection of beauties for men of Tony's ilk to peruse.
And these magazines spare no expense, showcasing only the most exquisite women. After all, no wealthy individual wants anything less than the finest.
Last night, Tony splurged a considerable sum to outshine his competitors and win the affections of the top girl for a night, all in the pursuit of pleasure.
Tony parted with a hefty sum, close to thirty million dollars. In this day and age, that's an astronomical amount, enough to sustain a lavish lifestyle for decades.
But for Tony, it's merely a drop in the ocean.
After bidding farewell to the girl, Tony dressed himself and stood atop the penthouse, surveying the scene below. Police cars blared their sirens in every direction.
"What the hell are those police cars doing? It's been all night. Are they really this inefficient?" Tony shook his head, holding a glass of red wine, feeling a bit helpless as he watched the police cars scurrying about.
"Yesterday, I was just drinking and chatting with the girl. Even from up here on the top floor, I saw that silver light curtain blanketing New York. But Tony couldn't care less."
"Is it because of what happened last night?" Tony pondered, stroking his chin, though it didn't seem to bother him much.
"Huh? What's this?" Tony noticed a dark shadow beneath the floor and hurried towards his own level.
There was a sudden crash as the glass in front of Tony shattered, and a strong gust of wind sent him flying.
"Whoa, what in the world is this, some kind of special delivery?" Tony exclaimed, covered in glass shards, staring at the strange man with bat wings before him in bewilderment.
"You're Tony Stark," the bat-winged man stated coldly, eyeing Tony intently.
"Yeah, that's me," Tony replied, dusting himself off as he got up from the ground.
Though he appeared composed on the outside, inside he was a bundle of nerves, discreetly reaching for his phone, which was buzzing with missed calls from Alex, its ringer silenced.
"Tina, do you know him?" the man with bat wings asked, fixing Tony with a penetrating gaze.
"Nina? Who's that?" Tony Shi Stark looked perplexed. Did he know her? With his history, he'd been with too many women to keep track.
Who the heck was this Tina person anyway? There was no way he could remember the name of every woman he'd been with.
"Haha, looks like you've forgotten! I'm Nina's ex-fiancé. She left me hanging, but I don't hold it against her. Back then, I didn't have the power to seek revenge like I do now. And guess what? You're on my hit list." The mutant with bat wings snarled, his expression grim as he lunged toward Tony, ready to strike.
Tony was caught off guard for a moment. Dealing with this guy was the last thing he wanted. And to think, he even gave money to these gals. Who knew there'd be such a mess?
As the winged mutant closed in, Tony swiftly dodged, rolling away like a lazy donkey. He grabbed his phone, still on the line, and shouted, "Hey! Anyone out there? Help!"
"No one can save you now, unless you can sprout wings and fly!" The mutant taunted, baring his teeth as he advanced on Tony, the chase resembling a game of cat and mouse.
"Oh, really?" Alex calmly extended his hand, conjuring a portal that whisked him halfway across New York City. In seconds, he stood atop the Stark Industrial Building, eyeing the mutant below. With a flick of his wrist, the mutant disintegrated into yellow sand and vanished into thin air.
"You're lucky I showed up when I did. You were about to be fucked up," Tony remarked, catching his breath as he looked at Alex.
"Ah, tangled up in a woman's drama again, aren't you? Some things never change," Alex said with a hint of frustration.
"Well, how was I supposed to know things would go south? I just wanted to help. I'm innocent here," Tony protested, wearing his most innocent expression.
"Listen, New York City's a mess now, with superpowered criminals running rampant and gangs lurking in the shadows. You better watch your back," Alex cautioned.
"Don't worry, I've got it covered, bro," Tony nodded, already mentally sketching out plans for his next exoskeleton armor upgrade. Inspiration struck him like lightning.
Tony's intellect worked overtime. In no time, intricate mech designs danced in his mind, ready to be brought to life.
