Looking at the familiar temple, with Odin sitting on the throne and Thor standing to the side, something suddenly dawned on Loki.
"You won't believe it," Loki began. "When I went to Earth with the Tesseract, I ran into Luo Bai again. As soon as I opened the portal, I saw that damn Sorcerer Supreme. He just looked at me and said, 'Oh, you're here to give me the Tesseract, right?' Then he took it! Took the Tesseract right from my hands and sent me straight back to Asgard."
Loki shrugged helplessly.
At this moment, Loki's expression was no longer as rebellious as when he first entered the temple—it was filled with frustration.
Thor, still a bit confused, asked with a bewildered look, "So... you gave the Tesseract to Luo Bai?"
"It wasn't a gift!" Loki roared. "I don't know why, but the damn Tesseract teleported me to Luo Bai!"
He didn't want that to happen. Loki had his own plans, unfinished and waiting to be completed. He had hoped to succeed, but instead, he ended up sending the Tesseract right back.
"Well, good luck with that," Thor sighed, casting a glance toward Odin.
Loki turned to Odin as well, noticing the growing tension. Odin's face had darkened, more severe than before. He sat silently on the throne, his anger obvious, yet he said nothing.
"Loki," Odin finally yelled, his voice filled with rage. "You've disappointed me!"
Loki, feeling cornered, shrugged again. "I didn't want it to go this way! But you expect me to sit back and watch Thor take the throne? People only ever see him, but I'm better. I deserve to be king!"
Thor quickly responded, "So... you went to Earth just to hand over the Tesseract to Luo Bai?"
Taking a deep breath, Loki shouted, "How many times do I have to say it? I didn't go to give him the Tesseract! I went to rule Midgard! I wanted to prove that I'm more fit to be king than you!"
"But the reality is that you gave him the Tesseract, and now I have to clean up after you." Thor's tone was calm but sharp.
Loki's defense crumbled visibly. Thor's words struck a nerve.
Odin's frustration mounted. First, I send Gungnir out to clean up the mess you made, and now you deliver the Tesseract to him yourself? Odin took a deep breath, struggling to stay calm.
Thor then offered, "Father, I'll go to Earth and bring the Tesseract back."
Odin's response was immediate. "Do you really think you can retrieve it?"
The first time Thor retrieved the Tesseract, it made sense—it was Loki causing trouble. Asgard had the right to step in and bring both Loki and the Tesseract back. Even as Sorcerer Supreme, Luo Bai showed respect for the All-Father's authority.
But now? Now, Asgard had lost track of the Tesseract again, all because of Loki's actions. It was clear Asgard's supervision had been lacking. Not only would retrieving it be difficult, but the fact that Luo Bai hadn't yet retaliated was already a blessing.
Odin looked at his sons, blood pressure rising.
"Fools! Both of you!" Odin roared.
Loki and Thor were caught off guard.
"Loki, you think you're clever, but you keep causing trouble on Midgard, again and again. Do you have any idea the mess I've had to clean up after you? Midgard is not as weak as you think! You understand nothing!"
Then he turned to Thor. "And you, God of Thunder! My son! The heir to Asgard! All you do is fight with that hammer of yours. Do you ever use your brain? Do you think war solves everything? It does not!"
Odin's fury was palpable.
Thor, stunned, tried to speak. "Father, I didn't—"
"You can't even manage your own brother! How do you expect to manage Asgard one day?" Odin interrupted angrily.
Thor, at a loss for words, simply stood there in silence.
Odin's voice thundered again, "Thor! Take Loki to the dungeon. If he escapes again, you will be exiled alongside him!"
Thor, visibly shocked, began to protest, "What?! I—"
But before he could finish, Odin's power surged, forcefully expelling both Thor and Loki from the temple. The heavy temple doors slammed shut with a resounding bang.
Outside the temple, Loki picked himself up from the ground, wincing in pain. He had no more desire to rule Earth. Now, he was filled with confusion, particularly about Luo Bai.
"Thor," Loki asked, dusting himself off, "do you think that mage Luo Bai is... a bit sinister?"
Thor didn't reply immediately, and Loki finally looked up, noticing Thor's darkened expression.
"Thor? Brother?" Loki asked tentatively.
Thor flashed a "friendly" smile, which made Loki shiver.
"I don't know if Luo Bai is sinister," Thor replied. "But I know you're certainly evil enough. Honestly, Loki, if it weren't for you, Father wouldn't be so angry with me. And to be clear—I've wanted to beat you up for a while."
Loki's eyes widened in panic. "Brother—!!"
But it was too late. Thor gave him a thorough beating before dragging him off to Asgard's dungeons.
Meanwhile, back at Kamar-Taj...
Luo Bai looked down at the Tesseract in his hand and sighed. "I knew you'd come back to me, but I didn't expect you to return like this. There really must be something about the goddess of luck."
He glanced at the Eternal Spear in his other hand, thinking about his trip to Asgard. It had been fruitful.
Just as he was about to leave, Wang and Mordo rushed over.
"Supreme Mage, you're back!" Wang greeted him with surprise.
"Yes, I'm back," Luo Bai replied calmly.
Mordo spoke up urgently, "Just now, Wang and I sensed something wrong at Kamar-Taj. It felt like someone had intruded."
Luo Bai nodded. "It was Loki. He tried to cause trouble, but I sent him away before he could do any harm."
Hearing this, Wang and Mordo both sighed in relief.
"Thank goodness. I thought something bad had happened at Kamar-Taj again. Wait a second, Supreme Mage... why does that weapon in your hand look so familiar?" Wang asked, eyeing the spear.
"I think I've seen it in a book somewhere," he added, squinting at it.
Luo Bai replied calmly, "You might've seen it in Introduction to the Universe."
Wang nodded in agreement. "Yes! That's it. I didn't expect you to remember, Supreme Mage. You must read a lot."
Luo Bai smiled. "Of course. I've read almost every book in the library."
Wang smiled back but grew more curious. "So... what's it called again? I can't seem to remember."
"It's the Eternal Spear, Gungnir," Luo Bai answered.
Both Wang and Mordo froze in shock.
"Gungnir? The Eternal Spear? Isn't that God King Odin's weapon?!" Wang exclaimed.
"Yes," Luo Bai confirmed.
Wang's eyes widened. "How is it in your hands?!"
Luo Bai replied calmly, "It was a gift from the God King."
"A gift?! Odin gave you his weapon?!" Wang stammered. "What kind of relationship do you two have?!"
