Chapter 049 Good Things Come To You!?

After explaining the tasks at hand, Modu left.

"Supreme Mage, I still have something to do, so I will take my leave now. If there is anything you don't understand, Wang will assist you," Modu said.

"Go ahead," Luo Bai replied, nodding.

Once Modu departed, Luo Bai felt a headache coming on as he looked at the thick stack of information in his hand.

He knew that becoming the Supreme Mage meant he would need to study Kama Taj comprehensively, but he hadn't expected there to be so much material.

No wonder Doctor Strange spent most of his time reading after becoming Sorcerer Supreme—there's just so much to learn about Kama Taj.

These materials were as thick as books...

Seemingly sensing his distress, Wang stepped forward and explained, "Kama Taj has been around for a long time, so it may take you a while to grasp everything as the Supreme Mage. However, feel free to ask me any questions; I'll help you address most of your doubts."

Although it was their first meeting, Luo Bai, who was familiar with the plot, trusted Wang very much.

"Then I'll rely on you, Wang," Luo Bai said.

Wang waved his hand dismissively, saying, "It's my responsibility. Is there anything else you need me to explain?"

Luo Bai nodded, replying, "Actually, yes. Please take me to places like the temple and the magical weapon room."

Without hesitation, Wang led Luo Bai through the gate of the temple.

As they walked, Wang continued his explanation: "Each temple has a protector, whose duty is to safeguard the temple they guard. The original protector of the New York Temple was the Ancient One, but now it is temporarily guarded by Master Daniel. The protector of the London Temple is currently Master Silisia, and I am the protector of the Hong Kong Temple."

Before becoming a librarian, Wang had indeed been a protector of the Hong Kong Temple.

This wasn't surprising to Luo Bai.

"Supreme Mage, do you have any thoughts about the temple guardian mages?" Wang asked suddenly, as Luo Bai pondered.

Luo Bai didn't reply immediately, lost in thought.

He understood what Wang meant.

Now that Luo Bai had become the Supreme Mage, he had a responsibility to protect the temple. This meant that, barring special circumstances, he would essentially remain at the temple to guard it.

Of course, Luo Bai had already accepted this mindset; after all, he was now the Supreme Mage.

It would be impossible to live in the villa and ignore everything like before.

Thinking of this, Luo Bai responded, "I will guard the New York Temple for now. After all, I don't know much about Kama Taj yet, and the previous arrangements made by the Ancient One should not be changed for the time being. I will make further arrangements once I fully understand the situation."

New York is the most chaotic place, and other mages might struggle to handle that chaos. So, guarding this location was Luo Bai's best option.

"Alright, this is the New York Temple," Wang said.

As they spoke, they arrived at the New York Temple.

Soon, a mage approached them.

Upon seeing him, Wang greeted him and began the introduction: "Master Daniel, this is the current Supreme Mage, Master Luo Bai."

Daniel respectfully addressed Luo Bai, "Supreme Mage."

Then, he began to scrutinize Luo Bai, surprise and astonishment evident in his eyes.

It seemed that Daniel was so taken aback that he forgot his manners.

Noticing this, Luo Bai smiled and said, "Master Daniel, you seem curious about me."

Realizing his rudeness, Daniel quickly explained, "I apologize, Master Supreme. I didn't mean to be disrespectful; I was just a bit surprised."

"Why are you surprised?" Luo Bai asked amicably.

Daniel smiled, slightly embarrassed, "You look very young."

Luo Bai guessed what he would say.

After all, he was indeed the youngest among the great mages.

Given his appearance and age, it was natural for Daniel to be surprised by his position as Supreme Mage.

Additionally, Luo Bai rarely spent time in Kama Taj, so most mages didn't know him or had witnessed his strength.

Daniel's surprise was understandable.

However, as Luo Bai was now the Supreme Mage, it felt somewhat impolite for Daniel to express such sentiments.

Wang quickly admonished, "Daniel, this is the Supreme Mage! You can't be so rude."

"I'm sorry; I was just taken aback," Daniel apologized again.

Luo Bai smiled and replied, "I understand your surprise. Given my age and qualifications, it is indeed astonishing to become the Supreme Mage."

Though Doctor Strange's qualifications weren't particularly high, he faced the Domu invasion soon after becoming Sorcerer Supreme and drove them away, proving his strength.

While the mages of Kama Taj appeared kind, it didn't imply that everyone held no opinions about the position of 'Supreme Mage.'

Thinking of this, Luo Bai realized he might also need to demonstrate his strength to stabilize the mages of Kama Taj.

After all, strength is the ultimate criterion for validation.

With that in mind, Luo Bai smiled and continued to inquire, "How long have you been studying magic, Master Daniel?"

Daniel smiled and replied, "Oh, I almost forgot! It's been around 30 or 40 years? I can't recall exactly."

Luo Bai nodded, saying, "You must have a deep understanding of magic. Perhaps we can exchange ideas when we have time in the future. But for now, I want to explore the temple more, if that's alright?"

"Of course! I'd be delighted to show you the way! Can I take you to the second floor first?" Daniel asked.

Luo Bai nodded, then followed Daniel to the stairs.

In the center of the New York Temple, there was a grand staircase leading to the second floor.

As the leader, Daniel ascended the stairs first.

After he reached the top, Luo Bai and Wang followed.

However, as soon as Luo Bai stepped onto the first stair, Daniel sensed something was amiss.

The previously ordinary stairs suddenly began to move on their own.

Yes, you heard right—they were moving by themselves.

Like an elevator, the stairs ascended one floor at a time.

As an archmage, Daniel couldn't help but recognize the magic at play here.

This was space magic!

Had Luo Bai, the newly appointed Supreme Mage, mastered magic to this extent at such a young age?!

Daniel was bewildered.

In truth, Luo Bai understood his confusion.

Not many mages in Kama Taj could use space magic adeptly.

In fact, the combat power of Kama Taj's mages wasn't particularly high.

In the plot, Casillas could only utilize it because he had absorbed dark powers; thus, being able to use space magic was already considered impressive in Kama Taj.

For this reason, it was easy to outshine these archmages.

Observing Daniel's astonished expression, Luo Bai realized that this display of power was quite effective.

As they rode the "elevator" to the second floor, Daniel remained oblivious.

It was only when Luo Bai reminded him, "Here we are, Master Daniel. Please show us around," that Daniel snapped back to reality.

At that moment, his gaze toward Luo Bai was filled with clarity and admiration.

"Okay, Supreme Mage. Please follow me this way," Daniel said, leading the way with enthusiasm.

Seeing him leave, Wang leaned in and whispered to Luo Bai, "Do we really have to ascend like this?"

Luo Bai shrugged, replying, "I don't want to either, but I am the new Supreme Mage, after all. I have to demonstrate my strength to earn the respect of these senior mages."

Wang nodded in understanding. "I see; I just thought your ascent was pretty cool."

Luo Bai smiled and said, "I'll show you something even cooler next time~~"

Just then, everyone heard a sharp sound, like glass shattering.

Before they could react, a red cloak flew in front of Luo Bai, blocking his path.

Luo Bai was stunned.

Wait, isn't this the ancient artifact, the Cloak of Levitation?

As he pondered this, Wang's voice rang in his ears: "It seems this artifact has chosen you, Supreme Mage. You know, it has been here for an unknown period of time and has never chosen an owner. You are truly lucky!"
