Chapter 39 Family Dinner 10

"Why did you miss your engagement party Hazel!" I heard mother ask, the question was so sudden that I was lost of words. "I...I  wasn't thinking straight then!" I said to her. "I understand, I guess it's because of the pressure we put on you, and we're so sorry for that!" Mother said warmly with a brief smile.

"You all must wonder why we're having this dinner tonight, we'll it's because we're having another engagement party next week. That's after the Balowe's heiress's marriage to Carlos!" Mr Oliver said. "I hope this time you don't miss the party!" Grandma said.

"Yes that's a good idea so everyone would know Hazel's Alex's wife!" Father said quickly, it's the first time he's spoken a word since we got here.

Why don't you two stay over at the house this week, you know it's been so long I saw you Alex!" Mother said. "That can't be possible, but Hazel can stay over!" He offered. No he did not just do that. Was this man signing my death wish? Why is he sending me over to people who dislike me alot? I can't stay under the same roof with Grandma. I thought to myself. But I smiled to pretend in front of everyone that I was cool with it.

The dinner was finally over, we discussed a lot more, mostly about I and Alex. I couldn't get enough of the hideous looks plastered on my step siblings faces, especially Belle which made me so happy.

Everyone got out of the restaurant together to their respective cars. Our chauffeur had arrived earlier, so I and Alex were the first to leave. I didn't say a word to him cause if we started our argument we might go on for the whole night.

"Do you hate your parents that much?" Alex asked breaking the silent. "They're not my parents Alex, the only family I have is the one you refused to let me see!" I said. "What did your dad do to make you hate him this much!" He asked calmly.

It was wierd Alex was suddenly interested in my family. "I would have told you, but we're not gonna stay together for long so it's best if you don't know!" I said.

He smiled, "Our agreement is over, I hope you know that?" He said. "W... what agreement are you talking about?" I said in a hoarse vioce. "What other agreement would I be referring to Hazel? When you slapped me, you destroyed that agreement!" Alex said nonchalantly.

"But you kissed me!" I retorted back. "Hazel.. let's not confuse ourselves okay!" He stressed my name. "A kiss is a harmless stuff that happens between two people, honey. But come to think of it, you're really a bad kisser which makes me question myself. Have you kissed a guy before?" He asked as if scared to hear the obvious truth. "I want you to tell me nothing but the truth baby!" Alex added unhurriedly.

I was agape as my cheeks flushed red, Damn this man was teasing me and for some reasons, I was dumbstruck.
