Chapter 6: Winter, Mother and Author

"They must have done something," David said as soon as they walked back to the door of their house, Coney was moody while Rose and Jake were the only ones, who didn't feel affected.

"Going to shower first, I have a game tomorrow," Jake said to Rose who followed him upstairs. She nodded in response with a smile before turning into her room to put Winter to sleep right next to her and somewhat poked his chubby little face as she went to sleep right next to him.

Rose woke up to Winter little giggle as he slapped her face a couple of times. He had somehow rolled unto his stomach and was laughing like no tomorrow. It was contagious his laugh. She couldn't help but chuckle lightly back as she turned around to look at her window. Rose looked at her phone, she had a book signing today, and she also needed to go to Jake's game. Rose got up to get the both of them dressed.

After a nice bubble-bath for both of then she changed into a light caramel sweeter with a long green skirt, making her look much older than she actually is. Winter was all snuggled up in a bright blue elephant one piece that had a hoodie attached.

He looked so adorable.

Rose got downstairs and placed Winter in a high chair, she put his pacifier in his mouth and gave him one of his toys that jingled every time it shakes. She rolled up her sleeve and put on her apron as she started to make some cookies for Jake's game. It was quiet in the house as David and Coney both work in the same place while Jake went to meet up with his team for a before a game meet.

During a year of her, pregnancy Rose spent her time scrambling to make a name for herself as an Author. She wanted a stable income after-all, it would help in the long run if Rose ever had to raise Winter entirely on her expenses.

A few hours later.

"Honk, Honk," Rose heard her agents car as picked up Winter and grabbed her basket full of cookies.

"Good Morning, Rose"

"Good Morning too you too Michelle" She smiled back, putting Winter in the back car seat.

"How's he doing, this morni,ng," Michelle said looking at Winter.

"Charmingly," Rose said to Michelle when she got into the passenger seat placing the basket on the floor "This will be done before 1, Right, Jake has a game at 0130 today, and I don't want to miss it."

"What about David and Coney," Michelle asked as she drove up once Rose had her seatbelt buckled

"Both of them can't afford to slack off so it will be just me today for Jake's ga.me"

"I see" Michelle looked like she was thinking about what she had wanted to say next "About his father, how did it go."

"the DNA test wasn't a match."

"It Wasn't?!"

"Of Course,"

"That's not… Rose, you avoid the news like a plague so you don't know what the….."

"Blonde hair and green eyes, which is a unique trait of the Connell's family"

"So, you do kn.ow"

"However, the hair used in the DNA test was blonde"

"Your point?"

"Anthony had dyed his hair black"

"!?!"

"I don't think anyone would keep hair from over a year ago."

"I'm surprised that the secretary at the hospital didn't notice it"

"So, are you going to leave things as they are"

"Yes"

"Why? They are a rich family, you, Winter, your family will be set up for life"

"Money doesn't mean everything."

"But you're still passing up something big. He may ask about his father one day"

"Maybe so, but I don't trust Anthony to love Winter." Rose looked into the rear-view mirror. "He a child himself throwing a temper tantrum. Because he's not getting his way."

"…."

"And besides, it won't just be Anthony, it will be his mother to."

"That's a little…."

"Do you know why grandmothers tend to favor their granddaughter-in-laws"

"No"

"Simple, it's because the enemy of my enemy is my friend."

"I'm surmised your so level head, when you seem so pure."

"Oh" Rose giggled "I need to be for him"

Michelle parked the call outside of the Nobles & Barnes. Rose had unbuckled a calm Winter who was just staring at her. When she smiled he smiled back at her, it was a sweet moment. Rose relaxed with Winter in a pre-paired chair for him. She was a decent Arthur with a decent following, she said thank-you to many of her fans, and some her awed at Winter's cute face who was still swinging his toy around.
