A few days later
Ace was sitting next to Hermione on the bleachers at the Quidditch field as he said "Honestly, why did you drag me out here." he looked up at the sky and muttered "Such a gloomy day, terrible for reading."
Hermione pointed at the field and said "You have to get out of the Castle sometimes, Master. You almost never show up for Quidditch games." Ace dug in his pocket, saying "It's boring. They don't go fast enough."
Hermione rolled her eyes, replying "Oh, of course. I forgot you were a racer." Ace retorted "I turned them down, mind you." Hermione chuckled and asked "Oh? Not fast enough for you either?"
Ace pointed his wand in the sky and said "Please, Hermione." as a red beam shot into the sky, creating clear skies with a bit of sunlight, not too bright, not too dark, just right.
Ace put away his wand, continuing "I don't have time to be a racer, you know that." Hermione held a book on her lap, asking him "Speaking of which, where have you gone now?" Ace smiled and said "Asgard."
Hermione was startled and replied "The Mythological Land?" Ace rubbed her head and replied "Of course it exists." as he flipped his palm, creating a magic circle, saying "This is very advanced and experimental. I've created it myself, pay attention."
Hermione looked at the magic circle, saying "Runes?!" Ace nodded and started explaining "You see the runes will enhance the magic circle, creating more powerful casts…" Hermione wrote everything down and nodded, asking questions.
Ace was gratified and explained everything he could as the Quidditch tryouts went on.
They stopped for a moment as Ace turned to the other goalie, frowning "What on earth is that fellow doing?" Hermione looked over and let out a breath of annoyance, "He's trying to woo me. Such a bothersome troll!"
Ace frowned and flicked his finger, muttering "I see. Goodbye, Mr. McLaggen." as McLaggen started missing every block, performing awfully. Ace turned back to Hermione, only to find her giggling.
Ace asked "What?" she shook her head and smiled, "The runes, Master." Ace nodded and returned, explaining in detail all the runes and their functions, adding "I have a book on all the runes I've studied. The records in Asgard are insightful, however they are incomplete. Most of my time there has been spent on runes and Totemic Magic."
Hermione asked "Totemic Magic?" Ace replied simply "The Magic of Beasts and Totems. For example, I can talk in my Animagus Form… As well as morph between different variations."
Hermione laughed, "Different variations of cats?" Ace pursed his lips funnily, replying "I fucked up the Animagus spell in the beginning. My Animagus is a Sabertooth Tiger. I only look like a cat because I messed up. Originally, I had saberteeth however I managed to control their retraction and extension."
Hermione was stunned and replied "Mine is only an otter…" Ace laughed and rubbed her head, smiling "It's okay. At any rate, Totemic Magic has to do with Beasts and plants. Not something you should be worried about, it was mostly practiced within forest communities, Orcs, Elves, Animalfolk, and Druids"
Hermione was amazed and Ace sighed "Later! Runes, Hermione. Focus." Hermione nodded and they continued studying.
A few weeks passed by
Ace was teaching Neville in the library, "So basically, World Tree Magic is the study of Plants and has to do with the extremities of Herbology. This is a magic that isn't taught or known within this Magic Community." Neville took notes and asked "Amazing! Do you think I could use this magic, Professor?"
Ace smiled and nodded, "I believe you have the aptitude, Neville. You are really awesome in Herbology. It's only a matter of practice, I'll try and get more information on it for you."
Neville packed up his things and smiled, "Thank you, Professor!" Ace nodded and said "No problem, Neville. Oh! Don't forget to take out 'Snapthorn's Guide to Vile and Venomous plants Vol. 54' That one has more detail on rare plants that are found in the far east." Neville nodded and Ace added, "Section 23, row 4." Neville walked away and Ace returned to a new notebook, writing down Neville's progress.
He had a new book for his students' progress and study materials.
Just as he was writing, Hermione walked over, asking "Master, have you heard of the Half Blood Prince?" Ace frowned and looked up at her, asking "How do you know that name?" Hermione asked quickly "You know!?"
Ace nodded gently, replying "An extremely intelligent student of the past. Even I learned a lot about potions from him. A pity he wasn't here when I started studying, otherwise I would've asked him." Hermione asked "Do you know who that is exactly?"
Ace shook his head and replied "Nope. All I know is that he was a student at Hogwarts a long time ago and he clearly knew much more about potions than the book. I actually have an entire revised section on potions if you want to borrow them."
Hermione frowned and said "Sure. I was just wondering because… Well, nevermind." Ace was confused and looked at her before shaking his head and pulling out a stack of books held together by string, saying "Be careful with these, a real hassle to write out again."
Hermione picked up the stack and looked at the spines, 'Potions vol. 1' all the way to 'Vol. 10' Ace scratched his chin with his pen, saying "They are in order of increasing difficulty, but I suggest you start at the beginning. The Potions have been revised and the instructions have changed from what you know. They're more efficient. The earlier potions are simpler, but as you continue, the revised recipes become more and more complicated."
He tapped on 'Vol. 7' explaining, "From here on, they are extremely complicated even for 7th year Potion focused students. Have fun!" before turning back to his study catalog.
Hermione nodded and smiled "Thank you, Master." before leaving the library, humming to herself.
Ace smiled and filled out his catalog for Neville before closing the book. He rubbed his eyes and turned to another book. This was the last book in the Library.
He was just about to finish everything in Hogwarts. He had even gone to Dumbledore and studied the entire private collection.
Everything was wrapping up smoothly for Ace.
