Magic's in the Name

A not so normal girl finds out she's a Witch, and she's been excepted into Hogwarts. She follows the instruction and meets Harry Potter and his family. They help her out, and she makes some friends. Weird things have always happened to her and she will finally understand why. What other secrets will she uncover about her? Will she be able to cope with her new world, will she find true love and friendship? But most of all, will she find herself? P.s. This story moves at a very fast pace so I apologize in advance. Also, I am not as familiar with the Harry Potter stories as some of you might be. So I'm sorry if I get something wrong. And there are multiple plot holes within the story that might confuse some of you. If so just ask in the comments so that I can try to fix them. The MC is a bit of an airhead, so she doesn't really question many of the things that happen around her. She just goes on without a care in the world, so sorry if your not into that. Also there will be a little yaoi to the side, if you don't like it then just skip over it. Please let me know if there is anything I missed. Also, I am working to change some of the name's of a few character. Such as Dracu, I may even change some aspects of the story. Like making James two years ahead and add in another brother, etc. So for those who have already read some of my story, be prepared for some slight changes. As I am going to go through and update some of the chapters. Along those lines, I apologise for not posting regularly. At times I feel uninspired and am running out of ideas for side plots that lead to the next main plot. Again I apologise for many cliches that will be appearing in the story. All comments are accepted, as well as criticism. If it may help better the story I am all ears. Thank you.

Magic Classes

The following morning, I wake up to tapping at my window, I get up and open it, and a bunch of little birdies comes in, carrying pretty flowers.

They help me get dressed and they do my hair, as I sit at my vanity. They do some little braids weaving in the flowers and they do a half-up look, and I look at myself in my mirror.

I'm short with dark brown, somewhat long hair, and golden-brown eyes, I don't have bangs, but my sideburns are pretty long. And personally, I think I look good in my Gryffindor colors.

My feathered friends leave after I thank them and close the window.

I wake up Yuki who's lying peacefully on my bed, check my bag for all my supplies, and realize I still have my bouquet in it. I decide to just leave it there and see that there are even a few more flowers now.

"They must have done that while I was getting ready," I chuckle, placing it on my shoulder. "You ready to go Yuki?"

"Yeah," she smiles talking in wolf, as I open the door.

We head to the Grand Hall and sit with James, Albus, Rose, Lily, Hugo, and the Twins. Yuki on my lap.

"Good morning you two," Wolly greets. "Did you sleep well?"

I nod my head as I dig in.

"And what's even better is that I got my own room," I beam, handing Yuki a piece of bacon. "Isn't that wonderful!"

"Yeah, good for you," Kelly smiles. "Wolly and I are roommates with two other pretty cool guys."

"I'm roomed with some guy named Robert and two others," Albus responds, not being very social. He's wearing Slytherin colors.

"Yeah, I'm with some girl named Samantha," Lily mentions, wearing her Ravenclaw colors. "And two other nice girls."

"Really, that's great, I'm with three girls named Rachael, Bernette, and Mary Anne," Rose grins taking a mouthful of eggs. "What about you, James, who's your roommates?"

"That rude boy from last night, it turns out his name's Remus Deadwood," James grimaces, looking down at his food. "I could hardly sleep with all the racket he made."

"Then maybe you should get earmuffs," I suggest, giving the rest of my egg to Yuki, who's now on the table, which she seems to thoroughly enjoy. "Wouldn't that block out the noise?"

"Yeah, maybe," James agrees, nodding.

"What, can't you handle a little bit of Rock," Remus laughs, from behind me, I turn to him, eyes shining. "What?"

"Did you say Rock," I ask, turning completely around and taking his hand. "Do you play it or just listen?"

"I play the electric guitar for a band called Crushing Skulls," he explains, blushing slightly. "We have a gig in two weeks at a pub in Hogsmeade. So I need to practice."

"I completely understand, it's hard memorizing a bunch of songs for a gig," I nod, releasing his hand. "You need to practice and James can easily wear earmuffs or something."

"You...like Rock," Remus asks.

"Yeah, I love it, it's one of my favorite genres of music," I beam, Yuki taps me with her paw. "Huh, what is it Yuki?"

"It's time to start heading to class Mahō," she barks in wolf. I started understanding her last night while I was organizing my room. "Don't want you to be late on your first day."

"Okay, let's go," I nod standing up, I pick her up off the table. "Sorry guys, I better get going. Class starts soon."

I wave and start walking away, I leave the Grand Hall and Yuki guides me to my first class, Charms.

I greet Professor Filius Flitwick, and take a seat, Yuki jumps up onto the desk. Most of the 1st years gather and Professor Flitwick starts class.

"Alright class, today we're going to learn the basic spells called Lumas, light charm and it's counterpart Vomus, to stop it," he explains, doing a demonstration. I observe his posture and how he does it, to the tiniest detail.

I study the charm in my spellbook, but my first attempt didn't work, so I study it a bit more. Then with Yuki's advice, I imagine a light in my head and when I try again, it works!

"Good, very good Miss Kage," Professor Flitwick praises.

"Thank you, Professor," I smile, then I help my classmates.

At the end of class Professor Flitwick gives out homework and we're dismissed. Yuki hops down and leads me to the Potions room, my next class.

The Professor is Mrs. Bubbly-Sudds, I take a seat, Yuki on my lap.

"Class, today we are making a sleeping potion," she announces. We all go up to her station and watch her do it.

I watch carefully not to miss a single step. Then we go and do it ourselves.

With studying, remembering how Pr. Bubbly-Sudds did it, and Yuki's help. I was successful in making the Sleeping Potion. I received high praise from the Professor and I helped everyone else in making their potions.

And because Pr. Bubbly-Sudds thought I was such a big help she gave Gryffindor 10 house points.

My next class is Defense Against the Dark Arts or DADA with Professor Debhill. He had us be joined by the 2nd and 4th years. Then Lily, James, Rose, and the Twins all come and greet me.

"Hey Mahō, how were your classes so far," Lily asks, smiling. "I hope you didn't have to much trouble."

"Nope, they were really fun, my first class was Charms, I learned how to do Lumas, and then my 2nd class was Potions and the Professor taught us how to make a sleeping potion," I beam, just as Pr. Debhill asks for our attention.

"Alright class, today we're just going to see where everyone is," he announces. "I asked the 2nd and 4th year here to help. You will be dueling against them."

An uproar starts among the other 1st years, I quickly raise my hand.

"Yes Miss Kage," he points to me.

"When you say dueling, is that strictly with magic," I ask, tilting my head.

"No, you may use other things, it's not strictly magic orientated," he explains, holding up a list with all the student's names. "The first duel will be chosen anonymously."

He uses a spell to create a leader board.

"First up is 1st-year Mahō Kage vs 4th-year Liam Malfoy," it announces. I take a deep breath before setting down my messenger bag and climbing onto the duel stage. It's just a few tables lined up and a tarp tied on top.

We take our positions and I notice that my opponent is the Slytherin boy who cheered me up last night.

"Begin," Professor Debhill yells, and I speed towards Malfoy before he can cast a proper spell. I use Lumas to temporarily blind him, I grab his right arm and turn, slamming him onto the table.

I stand up straight and bow to him, I ask Lily to hand me my bag.

"As an apology and a thank you, I give you a flower," I smile taking a Calimas and place it into his hand, before jumping off the table.

"My word, where did you learn to do that," Pr. Debhill asks coming up to me. "That was incredible!"

"I was taught martial arts at the orphanage I grow up at, and when you said dueling, everything came back," I smile. "We did it a lot when I was younger. I'm a bit rusty so my form and posture weren't exactly the best. So it wasn't as powerful as it was, and I also held back so I wouldn't severely hurt him. Though I can't say he's back won't hurt like heck. But at least his spine isn't broken."

"So with more training, you could be even stronger than you are now," he continues to question, and I nod.

"I'm a little out of shape, but what really helped was temporarily blinding him, so he would be off balance and I took advantage of that to do a takedown," I reply, smiling, trying to hide the fact that my arms were throbbing.

Then everything goes black.

When I wake up, I'm in the medical wing. I try to sit up, making my entire body throb.

"Please don't try to move, your body is under a lot of stress right now," a nurse comes up to me. "I'm surprised you didn't collapse sooner. With how bad a shape you're in, any normal person would have gone into an acoma by now. And would have been out for at least a few weeks maybe even more."

"I'm known to recover quickly," I smile, trying to sit up again. I succeed with minor pain, and I see the Potters and the Weasleys not including Hugo or Albus, surrounding my bed. Yuki laying at my feet. "Hey, guys, what's up?"

Lily comes up to me and shoves me back down.

"You need to lay down and rest, it's lunchtime, so you don't have to be anywhere," she pleads holding me down, tears in her eye. "Where did get you all those wounds, burns, bruises, and scars?"

I fall silent and look away, not looking her in the eyes.

"It's okay, you don't have to tell me right now," Lily forces a smile standing up straight, releasing me. "Just stay here for a while and recover."

"Okay," I agree, curling up under the sheets. They all leave except for the nurse who starts asking me to take a healing potion.

I take it and after a short nap, I'm up and moving.

"It seems that you have made a full recovery," the nurse (Madam Poppy Pomfrey) smiles, as I put back on my long cloak. "You may leave when you're ready. Classes start in 15 minutes."

"Okay, thank you," I bow to her and grab my bag, I pull out a flower. "Here, as a token of my thanks."

"Oh~ thank you," she warmly chuckles, as I pick Yuki up off the bed. "You should also thank that nice Slytherin boy who carried you here."

"Who? Do you know who he is," I ask.

"I don't know, but he had short premium blond hair and light gray eyes," she replies, thinking. And at once I recognized him as Liam Malfoy. "I hope that helps you."

"Yeah, it does, thanks a lot," I smile, leaving, my next class is being held in the training yard for flying lessons with Professor Madame Hooch.

Pr. Hooch at first didn't want to allow me to participate. But after showing her that I'm completely fine, she allows it.

The first thing she has us do is trying to summon our practice brooms. She demonstrates and we then try.

It takes me 5 tries to finally succeed with the help of my classmates. After that, she has us clean and polishes our brooms.

And then we're dismissed and I go to the History of Magic class. The professor, Mr. Cromwell, engages us in talks about the first Wizards and Witches.

It was so interesting that it was sad when it ended.

Then I go to dinner and sit with my friends, it seems that Remus and James have come to terms. Yuki jumps up onto the bench next to me.

"It seems you two are finally getting along," I giggle. "Is there anything before we can eat?"

"No, you can just eat," Rose replies. "So, how are you doing, feeling any better?"

"Yeah, much," I smile, picking up a piece of chicken and handing it to Yuki. "The nurses told me that Liam Malfoy carried me over to the medical wing."

"Well, it all happened so fast, he was already out the door when we finally realized you passed out," James explains. "And by the time we reached there, he was already gone."

"Yeah and if the nurse hadn't given us his description we wouldn't have known it was him," Wolly continues.

"And if it weren't for that, we wouldn't have believed it," Kelly nods, from across the table. "Liam Malfoy's the #1 bully and the under-ground boss here, everyone answers to him, even the professors. His nickname's the Emerald Serpent."

"Well, I still need to thank him," I frown, standing up.

"I'm coming with you," Lily rises from her seat at the Ravenclaw table. "I don't want you going over there alone."

"Thank you, Lily, you're so nice," I smile, and so we walk over to the Slytherin table and find Liam. Who is surrounded by not so nice looking people.

He turns to us and I start getting nervous, noticing that, Lily pushes me forward.

"What is it," he grumbles, I swallow hard.

"Thank you for carrying me to the medical wing earlier," I bow, then I quickly go and give him a peck on the forehead. "Consider that a sign of my application."

Then out of nowhere, thousands if not millions of pitch-black ravens start surrounding me and claw, peck and whack me, but no one else.

I crouch down and cover my head with my hands. My clothes are being ripped to shreds and I am covered in claw marks and bruises.

Yuki races over and transforms into a massive full-grown adult and starts barking at the birds. She scares off a few and gets to me, she grabs the ravens off me and the professors take action.

They blast away the rest of the birds and I passed out again, I feel like I'm floating and laying on a fluffy cloud.

Wow, I just realized just how bad my writing is, any tips on how to improve the story, I'm all ears. Constructive criticism is completely accepted and wished for. Anything that can improve this story is worth listening to.

Thanks for reading everyone!
