Chapter 12: Sense and Sensibility

Ophelia's POV

Ophelia had been unable to speak to Cricket during their class. During self defense, she had been dazed and unable to focus. Lilac and Cricket had been attempting to be patient with her, but by the time they reached the dining hall for supper, they had grown impatient.

"Come on, O, whatever it was, it can't have been that bad," Cricket encouraged.

"I'm dying to know what happened. I mean, I just want you to be okay, but you really should talk about whatever has shaken you up so bad." Lilac sat at the table, back to the window so the sun would warm her shoulders.

The gymnasium was always far too cold, and Ophelia was jealous she hadn't had the idea herself.

Ophelia opened her mouth to begin to explain the situation, but a broad smile broke across her face, and she struggled to say anything without a girlish giggle.

"Oh, you b*tch, out with it! You've kept us waiting long enough," Lilac demanded, though she was giggling.
