A Pretty Gift

Later at half past six in the evening, Mirae wore blue pants and a brown colored buttoned top. Doing side braid to her hair, she wore bronze hoop earrings and applied light makeup on her face.

Wearing a crème ankle strap low heel sandal, she hung a beige purse over her shoulder and left her house.

Somewhat after twenty-five minutes, Mirae reached Paradise Restaurant. When she stepped out of the car, she saw James standing at the entrance looking towards her.

Seeing him in a charcoal colored suit, Mirae felt James to be handsome. As James approached her with a smile, Mirae remembered the happenings of last night and lowered her head down while blushing.

'Out of all times, why did I had to think of our last night now?' Mirae thought to herself and shook James hand when he stretched his own in front of her.

Seeing Mirae dressed in a simple yet attractive outfit, James couldn't help but feel a need to hug her. But he kept himself in control and stretched his hand out for a handshake.

Feeling Mirae's warm hand, he remembered the way Mirae had taken off his shirt. A red tint appeared on his cheeks and he let go of her hand immediately afraid that he would do something more to her other than just hug her.

"Let's go inside!" He said to remove the awkwardness which was starting among them.

Mirae gave a nod and started to walk alongside James. When she felt his hand on her waist, she looked at him with her eyes widened in surprise and saw him giving a cute eye smile.

Her cheeks turned the deep shade of red and she instantly lowered her head.

After ordering a delicious fish meal, James gave a purple wrapped rectangular box to Mirae.

Mirae questionably looked at the box which was kept in front of her and asked James "What is this, Mr. James?"

"Open it! It is a gift!"

With a perplexed look on her face, Mirae took the box in her hand and opened the wrapper. A beautiful blue box came in her view and she looked at James asking permission to open further.

When James signaled to continue with his hand, Mirae opened the box and a beautiful diamond necklace came in her sight.

Both her eyes and mouth opened wide and she said while touching the diamond necklace with her long slender fingers "This is so beautiful!!!"

Seeing her delighted expression, James felt very much at ease and he asked her "Do you like it?"

"Very! This is so beautiful, Mr. James!" Mirae liked the necklace so much that she didn't for once take off her eyes from the necklace.

However, her smile vanished when she heard James say "I plan to give this to the girl I like."

"Oh!" Mirae asserted with a low tone and retracted her hand from the necklace. "It is beautiful…" She said almost like a whisper. It felt as if she would make it dirty with her hands so, she quickly retracted her hands away after taking one last look at it.

"It is really beautiful!" Mirae smiled.

"Put it on!" Mirae looked up at James with a surprised expression on her face and shook her head. For a while, her mind again said her that the girl whom James liked was her but Mirae shook those thoughts away.

"Let me put it on you." James knew that Mirae would not agree to put it on therefore, he stood up and walked towards her. Taking the necklace in his hand, he stood behind Mirae and placed it on her neck.

Eun Mirae felt his fingers slightly brushing her back and she thought about what happened between them last night. She remembered while her hair were open, James was pushing her hair to one side and while doing so, his fingers had brushed her back.

Thinking about last night, her cheeks turned red and she tried to hide her blushed face.

After James was done, he walked in front of her and looked at Mirae with a contented smile on his face. "That really looks good on you! Guess my choice isn't that bad." James patted his shoulder in appreciation and Mirae touched the necklace around her neck.

When their order arrived, James neatly placed fish pieces after taking out its bones on Mirae's plate. He made sure that she ate everything without any difficulty.

James very much enjoyed this small dinner time with Mirae and so did she. She was very much elated to have a dinner with James, although it would be their last meal together, Mirae enjoyed it.

While sitting inside the car, Mirae took a glance at James. He was very charming with a perfect facial structure. And from his behavior last night and today, Mirae almost felt it like they were a couple.

But she knew that this was going to stop here. So, she began to take off the necklace.

"Why are you taking it off? Is it not good?"

Hearing James, Mirae stopped removing the necklace. "It is pretty but…" Mirae kept her hands down on her thighs and looked up at James.

James noticed the saddened expression on her face and his heart clenched. "But what, Mirae?" He asked her to continue. "But I'm afraid that I would dirty it if I were to wear it." And Mirae continued.

"Tsk! Are you serious, Mirae?" James took a big sigh of relief and looked at her while resting his elbows on the steering wheel.

While staring at her for quite some time, he noticed Mirae's unusual behavior. A smile came on his lips and he asked "Say, Mirae… Do you really not know it or are you pretending to not know, huh?"
