Love At First Gaze

The first time was a coincidence. Second time could be called good timing. Third time is destiny. The first time they met, they were both cosplaying at an Anime Convention. Coincidentally, she was Usagi Tsukino, and he happened to be Tuxedo Mask from the anime, Sailor Moon. Their first gaze caught his attention. Her first smile swept his heart away. She walked towards him, and he was ready to take off the mask to talk to her. Unfortunately, it was all a misunderstanding. This was their first time crossing paths, but he facepalmed so hard when he realized he got the wrong idea that he changed his "Hi," into an anime's title, "Hitman Reborn." At that time, he watched her approach another person who acted as Tuxedo Mask behind him. The smile she had on her face wasn't towards him. It was a mistake. Two months later Second time they met was at their graduation. His brother, Lucas, flew back from overseas to attend his graduation in place of his parents. After taking countless pictures with his brother and some with friends, they left campus. Inside his black Mercedes, his brother shoved several well taken photos and showed it to him. Just when he was about to answer his regular plain response, the words swallowed back down his throat. He held his brother's phone and zoomed in to the back where he saw her again! Once again, a facepalm landed on his face as he couldn't believe that there could be such timing. He could've gotten her name! After a few days later, he got off his shift late and realized that he didn't go grocery shopping. Since his fridge was empty, he decided to have his meal at a newly opened Szechuan Spicy Bowl restaurant. "It shouldn't take that long to get a seat at this time.." Or so he thought. When he got there, the place was full and he didn't have much patience since he was alone. Right when he was about to leave, the waiter asked if he minded sharing a table. "Sure." He sat down across from the girl and ordered from the menu. When she took a few napkins to wipe her nose, he took the chance to thank her for sharing the table. And there she was with her Beyond Human level spicy bowl... Although they only exchanged a few words, he found her very interesting. A girl eating at this hour without caring about her weight and her surrounding. She was adorable. The clumsy her forgot her newly printed business cards at her seat when she left. "Lily Jiang," he smiled. He thought of bringing this to her when he is free, but who knew that they would meet again at the hospital? His lips twitched when he faced his new patient, "Hello, Miss. Jiang, I am Lin Que, your doctor for this visit. Where do you feel uncomfortable?" He looked at the medical report in hand as he couldn't believe his luck with this girl.

Graduation Is Coming Up

Ginny didn't want to make Lily feel overwhelmed or pressured into making her decision right now. Her mind and emotions are a mess. After a day of going around and meeting many people, she must have been tired. Afraid that she may be pressing her own opinions too harshly on her, she decided to let the girl off for the time being.

Even though she is not dragging on this topic for now, it doesn't mean that she will let things go as easily. Since that bastard had dared to make Lily shed a tear over an insult like that, she will definitely keep a close watch on her from now on. If anything occurs again, she will not hesitate to separate them with her own hands.

She urged Lily to take a warm shower or hot bath to relax. Like always, Lily chose one of her favorite fruit scented bubble soaps and drew herself a hot bath.

While Lily was taking her bath, Ginny received a call from Lily's mother. "Hello, auntie."

Lily's mother: "Hi, dear! I called Lily's phone a few times, but she never picked it up. Is she with you?"

Feeling relieved that she had someone to distract her mind, she answered, "Yep. I'm with her at her apartment right now. Do you want to talk to her? She's taking a bath."

Lily's mother heaved a sigh of relief and patted her chest, "Phew. Then no, it's alright. I just wanted to make sure that she is safe. Ever since she moved out of the house, her father and I have been travelling nonstop for business related events. I've always been afraid that she would feel lonely. It's great that you're by her side."

Ginny smiled, "You give me too much credit, auntie. She's doing very well. By any chance, are you and uncle going to be back in time for her graduation? It's in a little less than two months."

Lily's mother replied enthusiastically, "Of course, we are! No business is more important than my little girl's big day! I'll definitely be there even if her father has to stay behind. I'll take so many pictures of her and show it to him."

"Then, I'll see you at the graduation ceremony too." Ginny laughed softly.

"Oh, right! What about your graduation?"

"It's a few days before hers, so we could join each other's graduation without any conflict."

"If that's the case, then auntie will also come back to see you graduate! I would love to have double the fun and cater a huge celebration party for the two of you." Lily's mother was smiling so much that wrinkles appeared at the corner of her eyes.

"Alright! Then, I will thank you first." Ginny couldn't hold back her smile as she thought of how sweet Lily's mother must be smiling right now.

"Ah! It must be getting late on your side. I'll hang up now. Tell Lily that I miss her and will Face Time her another time! Night, night to you both. Mwahhhh"

"Have a great day over there as well. Mwah." Ginny hung up the call and let out a bright smile. She could hear water-splashing sounds coming from the bathroom. Putting her cellphone on the table, she stood up from the couch and walked to the balcony.

Stars were twinkling sparkler compared to other nights. This breathtaking view brought Ginny to the past when her parents were still alive and healthy. They used to walk around the neighborhood when the weather was nice and clear like today. Her parents were great friends with Lily's parents.

Sadly, when she was fourteen, her parents passed away from an accident. Since then, Lily's parents took care of her and supported all of her expenses until she was old enough to be independent. Throughout high school, they treated her the same way that they treated Lily.

In Ginny's perspective, they were all her family and Lily was her sister. To her, they were the most important people in this world, and nobody can replace them. Of course, her parents would always have a place in her heart as well.

Thinking back to those good old days, she looked up to the stars and made a diamond shape using both of her hands. Squinting one eye shut, she located two closely distanced stars and said, "Mom, dad, I'm going to graduate soon. I hope I make you guys proud."

"Auntie and uncle are definitely watching how much you've grown and are super proud of you." Lily said as she dried her wet hair with a towel and walked towards the balcony.

"Ah, you overheard me." Ginny continued observing the beautiful night sky.

"Mhmm. Auntie, uncle, if you two are listening, then I want to thank both of you for bringing such a beautiful angel to my life. She's very smart and loyal as a sister. Even though you two are gone, I know you guys are watching her every step of the way. When I lose my way or have no courage to move forward, Ginny is always the one who encourages me."

"Aiyo! Such embarrassing thoughts! But mom and dad, you heard my sweetheart over here. I'll definitely make you guys proud and work towards my dream. You'll always be my inspiration. I'll always love you." Her fingers touched the two rings on her necklace.

The rings on that necklace belonged to her parents. It is also the last memories that she had of them before they died in the accident.

Lily smiled and lowered her head for a moment before turning her attention to Ginny. "Thank you for being there for me all the time. I've thought about it during my bath. Honestly, maybe I am not that great in terms of mindset to be in a relationship. Or maybe we aren't compatible. I've decided to give us some time and see how it goes."

She vaguely expressed her thoughts and Ginny didn't ask for further details. She respected her privacy and trusted that she would have her own ways in dealing with this relationship. If anything, she could always jump in before things turn for the worst.

"Mm.. As long as you know where you're going in this relationship and clear of what you truly want. But let me warn you that if there is ever another time like today, then I wouldn't hesitate in breaking you guys apart. As brutal as that sounds, don't worry, because reality will be much more violent with me involved. I'm not One Punch Man, so I have no mercy when it comes to beating jerks."

"Okay." Lily smiled and let the breeze blow onto her wet hair as they enjoyed the night view.
