A Date in the Office?

Hearing Alan's deep voice sinking deep into her ears, she blushed at his question. "It's a simple trip that my family happened to be there. I..I just didn't want to be Lily and Lin Que's light bulb."

"Uh huuuh." He rubbed his chin playfully as he studied her embarrassed expression with great interest. Taking her hand in his, he pulled her closer and flicked her forehead lightly. She pouted and rubbed the spot she got flicked on.

Tiptoeing to return the dab, she found her wrist caught in his hand. When she turned her head to face him again, his lips covered hers. It was a fast yet simple kiss. Still, it was enough to make her heart pound as if she had discovered the last piece of cake being eaten by someone else but her.

"I'd love to go on vacation with you guys. What should I do when I meet your family? Should I buy them some gifts or treat them to dinner? Ah, or should I-" Her mouth was immediately covered by her warm palm.

"Stop talking for a minute!" The blush on her cheeks had gone a few shades darker as his words mislead her to various thoughts. 'He sounded as if he was asking my family for their blessings or something! Sheesh, what dinner? What gifts? Just bring your passport and yourself!'

Obviously, she didn't have the guts to spurt that out loud in public. So, she kept these words to herself while she calmed down from his teases. Meanwhile, Alan was smiling at her adorable moment. He pulled her into a hug where her head buried shyly in his chest. Her arms circled around his waist as she heard his soft laughter.

Gently stroking the back of her head, he said, "Aye, so our family's Ginny is this shy? I need to tease you more, so you'll be bolder to me."

While this couple had their sweet hugging moment, Lily was spinning a pen in her hand. With a confused look, she raised her head and frowned with pursing lips. "I don't get it." She looked at Lin Que who was sitting next to her.

Earlier today, Lily had an inquiry about an upcoming project. She reviewed the dull, long pages of documents for several hours before reaching for her phone to ask her father for assistance. Coincidentally, Lawrence was with Lin Que's parents when this happened.

"Hello? Dad?" She sounded uncertain as if she had interrupted something.

"Lily? Do you need help with something?" He sounded cheery like he was having a lot of fun.

Breathing a sigh, she really wanted to not bother him at these moments. Unfortunately, this project she was responsible for included a huge sum of investment. Therefore, she could only surrender to fate and give her father a call. "Yes. It's about Queen Card. It was one of the proposals you've approved a few months back."

"Ah, I remember. What's wrong?" He vaguely recalled the proposal he had reviewed and believed it was the strongest candidate compared to the rest. Since it was a profitable business, he decided to give this company a chance.

"About that. There are some documents related to the project, but I don't really understand the policies stated. Do you think you could stop by the company and take a look at it?" She asked with an apologetic tone since her parents had never taken a long break for a long time.

"Ah, I'm afraid we can't. Your mother and I are currently on a cruise. We are with Lin Que's parents. It was a last-minute decision to purchase the tickets. You're lucky that this call got through because I might lose connection soon. We just got on board."

"Uhm, this document is urgent and needs to be signed today. If I don't process it, then we might not meet the scheduled deadline." She rubbed her temples with a migraine coming her way.

"Then how about Lin Que? You don't have to show him the confidential sections of the document. Just parts you don't understand. I believe in his ethics and capability. Ahh, what? Your mother's calling me! I'll call you back whenever I can."

Beep

Staring at the black screen in her hand, Lily's lips twitched. Lifting the invisible white flag in her hands, she motioned it left and right. She stared at the documents on the table with a ruthless squint.

The next second, her fingers found its way to her history of call logs. Bending her thumb flat on the screen, it pressed on the second name listed. Within the first two rings, she heard her boyfriend's charming voice over the phone. "Lily?"

For a second, her migraine flew away. Then, the sight of the pile of documents in front of her pulled her back to reality. "Darling, are you busy right now?"

"No. I just finished the last meeting for today. I was about to ask you if you want to meet up for lunch." Hearing the way, she addressed him made a smile curve on his lips.

"How about a date in my office? Ehe, my parents and your parents are off on a cruise. I have some documents that needs to be approved today and I am having some difficulties breaking them down. Do you think you can help me out with some explanations?" The hesitation in her voice was a bit shaky but still easy to discover in her tone.

"I'll grab lunch for us and see you at your office. It'll take maybe twenty minutes to get to you. Is that alright?" It was rare for her to ask him about work inquiries. Although he had never offered to help, he wouldn't reject her request as long as she was alright with him knowing her company's operations.

Besides, as a CEO himself, he knew how hard it is to survive in a competitive industry. Reasonably speaking, her worries were naturally based on her responsibilities as the CEO of her family business. So, it didn't matter much whether she was willing to share about her work with him or not.

Presently, two lunch boxes were opened and only a few bites were missing from it. Lily pointed out areas she did not understand and he patiently explained it with different cases he recalled on top of his head. Though it took a while before she slowly processed his words, he felt happy seeing her workaholic side.

"Ah! I finally understand everything! Since these documents are alright for proceeding to the next step, I'll sign it. Thank you so much, honey bun! Muahhh" She gave him a flying kiss and scribbled her signature before asking her assistant to come retrieve the documents.

After the assistant exited from her office, she found herself trapped between his arms. As her eyes met his, she noticed his smile growing wider. Her arms made its way around his neck, pulling him in quickly for the kiss he was craving for.

She heard the sound of her door knob getting locked. Peeking from the side, she caught his arm retracting to feel around her waist. Her eyelids closed as she drowned in his sweet pecks and wild kisses. These days, he started getting bolder with his moves, but she wasn't bad at all with catching up to his meaningful gazes either.
