Chapter 4: Divorce and Remarriage

Noah was taken aback when Emma suddenly thanked him. He hadn't expected it, and he was momentarily stunned. He responded coldly, "Thank me for what? Soon you'll be my wife."

Emma blushed and wished he wouldn't bring it up so often. Every time he did, she was reminded of her sorrow and how she had been taken advantage of without even realizing it. She felt so foolish.

But no matter what, she had to face life with a smile. She put on a smile and said, "But we're not married yet, so I still need to thank you."

Noah turned his head and stared straight at the rainbow in the sky, warning himself not to fall for her. She wasn't her, she wasn't her. Emma saw that he wasn't speaking and wisely stayed quiet, just sitting next to him in silence.

After a while, Noah left the window and returned to the table. "Stop looking and come eat. Aren't you hungry?" he said.

Emma hadn't felt hungry while she was watching the rainbow, but once he mentioned it, she realized that she was. She got up and walked to the table, sitting down next to him.

"Do you have your ID with you?" Noah asked in a flat tone.

Emma was surprised for a moment, but then nodded and said, "Yes, I have it with me."

Was he really going to marry her? Emma sighed softly. Well, if he wanted to, then they would. There was nothing to be afraid of. She encouraged herself in her heart.

As expected, Noah said, "After we finish eating, let's go sign the agreement and then come back together."

"Okay."

"Emma responded. After finishing their meal, Emma sat in Noah's car and looked at him, admiring his perfect profile.

Noah's thin lips twitched slightly, "Buckle up, I'm about to drive!"

As soon as he finished speaking, the car shot out of the parking lot like an arrow, going at an incredible speed of 200 miles per hour. Emma said, "Don't drive so fast, it's scary, you know?"

Today was her birthday and her divorce anniversary, and maybe even her wedding anniversary since she was still young and hadn't lived enough yet.

"We won't die!" Noah replied abruptly. Emma didn't know what would happen if they got into an accident, who could she turn to? But she didn't want to dwell on it and decided to enjoy the thrill. She would never ride in Noah's car again, he was driving like a maniac.

They arrived at the law firm in no time. This was her second time today, one divorce and one marriage. Was there anyone more tragic than her in this world?

She couldn't bring herself to go in, what if she saw the person who had just divorced her? Noah said, "What are you waiting for? Do you want me to carry you in?"

Emma didn't bother answering, feeling uneasy under Noah's strange gaze as he said, "You being absent-minded is my loss since you married me."

Emma didn't appreciate his comment and simply walked away, with Noah following her footsteps. It took courage to ride in Noah's car, she had put her life on the line.

Emma's expression was tense, and Noah chuckled, 'Are you nervous? I'm not a cannibal.'

'...' Emma remained silent.

'Of course, I'm not going to eat anyone. Though, I might give someone a heart attack while driving,' Noah thought to himself.

It's better to keep such thoughts to oneself, as voicing them could cause hurt feelings. Emma turned her head towards the window, refusing to communicate with non-normal human beings.

Noah's smile became even more sinister, but Emma didn't see it. If she had, it would have made her shudder.

Suddenly, Noah hit the gas pedal hard, then slammed on the brakes after driving a short distance, causing Emma to almost hit the windshield. If Emma hadn't been wearing a seatbelt, she would have had a close encounter with the glass.

Emma was scared by this sudden event, and she glared angrily at Noah.

Noah innocently smiled as if he hadn't done anything wrong. 'Why are you staring at me like that?'

'What do you mean by that?' Emma asked.

'Nothing, I was just testing the car's performance,' Noah replied.

Emma rolled her eyes in disbelief. She had never met anyone who tested the car's performance like this before. She thought the car was out of control for a moment, but it turned out that Noah did it on purpose. She was so angry, but she couldn't do anything about it.

After all, getting angry would cause wrinkles, and Emma valued her appearance. So, for the sake of her face, she decided to stay calm and composed. Her face was very important after all.
