Chapter 39: Reunited

I knocked on the cabin door again. I could smell Grey’s scent, but I heard no movement inside. Yet, I sensed him nearby.

“Grey,” I called, aloud and in my mind. “Where are you? I need you. It’s important.”

Grey came running around the corner of the cabin, buttoning the top of his jeans. We froze, drinking in the sight of each other.

“My love,” I whispered and ran into his arms.

He kissed my hair and held me close. “As much as I’ve been longing to hold you in my arms, you shouldn’t be here, Emma. If the elder shifters find out, you could lose their respect.”

I looked into those mesmerizing pewter eyes and let myself melt into his body. Our lips joined as our arms tightened around each other. How I had missed him every second we were apart. But that ended today.

“You are welcome to come back to Denhurst,” I said with a grin. “My aunt and uncle arranged a tribunal to decide if I could take you as my fated mate.” I smiled as his eyes opened wide in surprise.
