Student Life and Tryouts

Alright, morning has arrived and for today let's begin with the usual routine of exercising and making my own lunch box. While preparing for today I noticed that today is where we join clubs. I have to fit in my role, I'll become a Track and Field ace.

While walking towards where everyone is going. Mia just so happens to be arriving on the same path as I did. We decided to go together and start talking about the clubs we will be joining in.

"Oh, yeah, I heard about today's club recruitment day. What club are you gonna be joining in?" Mia asked.

"Well, I have a history as a track and field athlete so maybe the track and field team might recruit me." I replied.

"Wow, it must be nice to have a history in sports." Mia envied.

"Not really, it gets annoying when other schools try to recruit you in any way possible sometimes at the worst times even." I replied.

While chatting about clubs Elizabeth stumbles with us and joins us as we walk to school.

"Are you guys excited for the clubs showing off today?" Asked Elizabeth.

"You betcha! I wanna see what they can show off to us freshman." Mia replied.

"I hope you find a club you're gonna be comfortable with Mia." I remarked on her excitement while patting her head.

"Ehehehe~ I hope they'll do something rad that it'll blow our minds." Mia laughed.

"You know what would be better? If we join the same club together." Elizabeth suggested.

"That would be nice if we all have the same club interests. We need to have at least one idea in common that we all love. Thoughts about this?" I replied.

"Let's give it some thought when we're in class." Elizabeth replied.

"Sure thing we don't have classes today right?" I replied.

"Yep, today we have the entire day to check out the clubs." Elizabeth replied.

After that we went to our classroom so our homeroom teacher can give us the gist of today's activities. Seems like we're gonna be going around the school looking at club exhibitions. But before we went out and checked every club out there.

We did a bit of brainstorming on what clubs we might have the same interests in.

"Oh, I love magic!" Mia raised her hand.

"Mia, your family has a history in magic?" Asked Elizabeth.

"My granny was a mage that practiced healing magic." Mia replied.

"Oh, that's nice your grandma must have been in the medical field." Elizabeth was amazed by the fact.

"Sadly she retired by now after technology became more prominent in saving lives. She often said things like:

'I remember when humanity relied on magic to save other's lives since it was an art of commitment, dedication, and a whole lot of devotion into saving lives with your own two hands.'

But now I guess she got so used to the convenience of modern medicine that she didn't bother to pass down her art. How about you guys?" Mia explains her background.

"I don't really remember my family's heritage on magic but I know the basics at least." I explained on my end of course behind a facade.

This could be the best time for me to learn if Elizabeth knows about her magical power. I wonder about that.

"I love magic but I have never known how to use it. I don't even know if I have magic within me." Sighed Elizabeth in her disappointment.

Wait?! She doesn't know she has the largest pool of mana of any human out here?! No, no, no this isn't possible.

Anyways, let's play it cool and not get too surprised. And just go with the flow…

"Why don't we visit clubs that have something related to magic?" I suggested something that they might like.

"Oh yeah, that's a good idea!" Mia stood up in excitement.

"Ok then. That settles things for us today. Let's check around the clubs shall we?" Elizabeth declares our plans for today.

And with that we went around the campus looking for the magic oriented clubs. Seems like there are a couple of them. I'm quite surprised how they still have clubs for it considering it's an obsolete form of art by now.

Then again there are people that make art the traditional way and some use obsolete techniques to make them remember how people used to make them. I guess this applies to it as well.

"Seems like there's a couple of them around but most of them are more on people who can already use magic well." Elizabeth conveying her slight disappointment.

"Yeah, most of them are already about those people who can already use magic really well. It's weird that there's no clubs that are about the basics." I looked around while we walked.

"Oh, look over there! There's two people there and their club is about magic research!" Mia pointed out and immediately ran towards them.

"There she goes I guess…" I sighed.

We followed suit to where Mia went and seems like the club she picked is a bit of a rundown place. With only two members from the looks of it.

"W-w-w-what is the star student of the freshman class doing in our rundown club!?"

"Calm down, Hailey take deep breaths first!"

"Okay, okay… I'm calm now." Said Hailey.

"You don't need to be shocked about us." Elizabeth insisted while waving her hands.

"We-welcome to the Magic Research And Development Club! My name is Hailey, Class 2-3. I'm the club president of this club of ours." Hailey struggled a bit upon introducing herself.

"I'm Sylve, Class 2-4, I'm the vice-president of this club of ours." Sylve bowed upon introduction.

"Magical Research huh… What kinds of activities do you guys do apart from researching magic here?" I asked.

"Well we can't start any form of activities if we're incomplete. We need 3 more members to officially start on doing our activities which are mostly learning how magic really works." Sylve replied.

"I can join. I wanna learn how to use magic!" Mia raised her hand.

"Heck I'm here anyways so why not?" I grabbed one of their application forms.

"What about you Eli?" Asked Mia.

"I'm happy to help out and also learn about magic along the way as well. Plus I wanna know too if a normal person can learn magic!" Elizabeth looked excited to learn.

"We were doing some basic theories about that!!" Hailey immediately stands up upon hearing Elizabeth's words.

"The problem is we can't test out the theory since we lack enough members to make official activities. So far the only thing we can do is only on paper and we haven't proven anything yet." Explained Sylve.

"But since we're now a complete club we can finally put our theories into the testing procedure!" Hailey looked excited.

After that we sent our club applications to the teacher representing the club. And it seems like she was surprised that we joined the club.

"Ms. Hailey, it's surprising you found such members of this caliber. A star student of the freshman class, an up and coming athlete, and a girl who has a history of making everyone happy." The Representative Teacher sighed.

Wait, she knows our backgrounds? Well Elizabeth is an exceptional girl of course but me and Mia's background as well?

"We didn't expect them to actually join. What was the reason you joined our club?" Asked Sylve.

"None of the clubs we saw about magic hasn't been the one we're looking for until we found Sylve and Hailey's club." Elizabeth replied.

"So we're the last choice then…" Hailey replied while being gloomy.

"Not that we thought your club was our last resort. It just stood out from the rest of the other clubs with magic as their topic." I argued that wasn't the case why we joined their club.

"Well that's reassuring that you caught the eye of these three Hailey and Sylve. And as you two are older than them you better be responsible for taking care of them when doing your research okay?" The Teacher remarks a good job despite being the odd one out.

After we gave our club registration forms to the teacher we were guided to their club room which is not that far from the teacher's room. The place is simple with a long table in the middle and two whiteboards with theories written on it about magic circles.

Seems simple enough that the room doesn't look out of place in a school. While we sat down by the chairs laid out for us. Sylve and Hailey start to unpack some of their documents while Sylve is preparing some kind of magical keystone device probably to scan our mana.

I guess this is where we're gonna learn how everyone handles their mana pool. I haven't suspected anything at the moment. No death threats lurking within the area that's good, none of them will suspect the amount of magic Elizabeth has.

Better keep my knowledge to myself for now and continue acting the way I am for now that is…

A bit late to update but here we are another chapter!
