Lady: Ex Machina

“This is not the place for you to die…” Those words still rings in my ears... What does it take for someone to protect at all costs? When the fate of the entire world is inside this young woman, to what ends of the world would you do to protect her? And how many people does it take to handle such a mission? A clueless high schooler’s life would be in the hands of the country's best men and women. Also what complications does it have when getting too close with the main objective? Is getting comfortable enough to get the entire world on the bleeding edge of destruction, hopefully not.

Reporting In

Eating dinner with my adoptive mother… She asked me how school was. And it started fine while slowly getting serious on topic.

"So how's the first contact with the target?" Exia asked.

"Everything went to plan, though in my opinion it went too well…" I replied.

"How come?" Exia questioned.

"It felt way too convenient for me to be right in front of her seat. Plus she approached me while we were having lunch with my classmate." I replied.

"Isn't that more convenient for you since she herself approached you to be her friend? Makes your work much easier. Anyways while you were having fun as a student we found out that there's already surveillance groups around her house's perimeter and most of them are unknown and unmarked men." Exia informed me while she pulled out photos of the locations and a map of the area.

We cleaned up the dining table to begin debriefing.

"So when did this start?" I asked.

"I have no approx time on when they arrived but they did a complete circle around the neighborhood of the target's home. They distance themselves between 50 meters to 100 meters from the house." Exia wrote down the locations of their surveillance vehicles in the map.

"How did word get out so quickly anyways?" I asked while checking the documents and photos.

"That's what I wanna know too but the department is already busy investigating that and we're left here to figure it out on our own. We were given permission to deal with anything that might bring harm to the target anyways with no restrictions." Exia described the situation we're in.

"So do I have to take care of them right?" I asked.

"Well let's not get too hasty, Bea. I have to do a scan of them first if they're armed or not. And or if they have direct communication somewhere offshore." Exia stopped me.

"Then I just have to observe them before I go clean them out." I suggested.

"Wait, before you do I have an idea. I'll tell you where to go so we'll talk over comms." Exia replied.

I wore my gear for my night battles and headed out to the park to wait for orders and location of our main enemy target for tonight. I sat down by the bench and waited for Exia to give out orders.

"Okay, Beatrix, can you hear me?" Exia chimed in on my comms.

I sat up straight as soon as I heard Exia respond. Seems like the mission is gonna start soon.

"Yes, loud and clear." I responded.

"I found one of their secret bases within the area and I've interfered with their equipment and forced them to retreat. I'll send you the coordinate immediately. Wipe them off the world will you?" Exia asked nicely.

That was quick to be honest, a bit too quick that Exia found their base that immediately.

"Wait, are you mad or something?" I replied.

Exia is a force to be reckon with if placed on her bad side things can get pretty wild.

"Maybe, but sure I am a bit mad about them. Since not only they keep an eye out for our VIP but they also have photos of her changing clothes and saved within their private devices. They're just the worst!

Anyways I've scrambled their phone home signals so you can destroy their equipment once you're there. Local enforcements have already redirected the public's attention towards other things for now so go loud." Exia informs me of the details.

"Alright talk to you a bit later." I replied.

Let's begin the mission! I'm finally seeing some action after a while.

"Goodluck out there, Bea." Exia sighs as she sends me off.

Seems like the location is a warehouse. A bit convenient and cliche that this is a place where bad guys hide. The place has some guards around and most of them are armed with normal guns and seemingly none of them are using magic.

But I have to scan the area if there are anomalies in the warehouse… Well, I didn't find anything unusual, time for work! Casting magic, strengthening magic, noise isolation! Let's do this!

First things first since I was given free reign on this mission I want to take them all out. So no one survives. First the guards outside simple enough taking them out without much anyone noticing due to their spacing throughout the compound area.

Taking out as many as I can without raising any alarms. Seems like this warehouse was a water treatment plant at one point. The place is in rough shape and all 4 of the vehicles spotted are here.

I placed some explosive magic ready for casting on those vehicles. I only know the basics of magic so it's not much. After that, infiltrating and taking out the rest of the guards until the surveillance team is left for me to ask.

"I'm in Exia, is the jammer active?" I asked over comms as I walked inside the warehouse.

"Yep, all powered up and active none of them can call for help in that area." Exia replied.

Look at them looking like chickens with their heads cut off. Running around panicking what to do and why they couldn't call anyone.

"Perfect." I smirked.

My magic specializes in channeling mana as a form of physical energy to improve my physical strength, durability, and endurance. Well with this I can give them an entrance they will see last in their lives.

There's a giant sliding metal door that separates me and the surveillance team on the other side. So I kicked down the giant metal door, surprising them.

"Who the hell are you!?"

"How did you get past the guards?!"

"Why is there a highschooler here?"

There's five of them in the room and only 3 spoke up. This is gonna be fun…

"I'm here to take you all down right here right now." I taunted them.

"Why are our comms down!? It was working a few minutes ago."

"Ah, never mind handle the girl first then we'll fix that piece of shit."

Of course they want to focus first on calling for help. But that can only get them so far until they know. They don't have anything to try out for. Call out as you try, you're not getting out of this alive.

"Too bad, you wouldn't see the light of day anyways if you fight me." I mocked the five of them.

They looked really pissed off and grabbed their guns to start shooting. But one of them was dumb enough to charge head on with no weapons thinking he could outsize me and surprise, surprise none of them have combat experience.

It's a bit pitiful that I have to kill all of them. But since the world is at stake here, I better clean off the scum that might compromise or contaminate Elizabeth. And everything went into plan and clean up was easy, none survived and those servers in their vehicles were all destroyed.

"Job's finished, Exia. It was a bit sad that none of them could fight back." I reported what happened.

"No worries, the cleaners should arrive there soon. Also I already left your apartment. There are leftovers in the fridge if you want to just reheat them. Good job for today Bea, you did well." Exia replied.

"See you soon, Exia." I said my goodbye over the comms.

"Mom…" I said that as I turned off my comms.

And headed back home soon after to clean up and take a shower after a very intense mission. Finishing off the first day, a lot has happened in just one day huh… I saw quite a lot on those servers. It was disgusting how clear the photos were taken.

I can't believe how they managed to get close already to her. I need to tighten up my awareness on suspicious individuals. Man this is stressful already and it's just the first day of school!

I was tired anyways so I fell asleep as soon as I lay down and slept well throughout the night.

Second day is up and time for my school self to act up and begin the day. The mission is just really simple in the end. And plus I get to actually experience my remaining youth.

Being a highschooler doesn't last long and it's better to enjoy it while you protect the entire world from collapsing. Sounds rough I know and it feels like I'm carrying the entire world on my shoulders to protect this one girl from harm's way.

Befriending and keeping a close distance is not much in terms of substantial work that others do but it's honest work in my opinion. Worst case scenario is she learns that this friendship is just fabricated to give out a façade to focus on actually protecting a possible national treasure.

That's the last thing I want her to know about me. I wonder what the others are thinking of. Probably they're more worried about what is gonna happen in school than the world's situation. Yeah, it's most likely that.

Phew, new chapter and a new day enjoy this new upload!
