Dagon flipped his sword through the air, then held it out to where it's tip pointed to Mourtas's throat.
"Well, I must say I am surprised. I cannot say I was expecting you to get so strong in such a short time… your meeting with the Dragon Goddess must have been quite enlightening. Or was it the death of dear Gena that drove you into a mad fury?" Mourtas grinned.
"Do not speak her name. Keep it out off of your accursed tongue." Dagon said with a sneer.
"Dagon, be careful.. even if you have this much power, Mourtas is not one to underestimate." Sephtis growled from a couple yards away.
"Silence, venomous lizard! Came the bellow of Zickarys from above, "your fight is with me! So do not turn your eyes away!"
"No!" Mourtas called out, "Zickarys, to me. This fool is a mere peasant before us, and without his dragon, he is nothing. Kill him now."
Zickarys shifted in the air, then tucked in his wings and dove out of the sky down towards Dagon.
"No!" Sephtis roared, leaping into the air and over the spikes of mercury all around them, but he would not be able to make it in time. He watched as the black dragon descended on his Kin, but, what happened next left him hovering in the air in awe.
Dagon shifted his feet, barely turning towards Zickarys, before raising his arm up and Mercury suddenly enshrouded his arm and rushed forward, slamming into Zickarys's snout. A shockwave rang out, resounding through the spikes of mercury, and the black dragon recoiled, spiraling through the air, before crashing down on a spike that drove through his shoulder, pinning him down.
"What…?" Mourtas said in shock, "how did you.. to be able to strike a dragon down so easily… how..?" His expression suddenly contorted into one of rage, "Worthless kur! It matters not.. you cannot hope to survive against my army! Even if you can strike down one dragon, you cannot possibly take on all my forces at once!"
Endless shadows enshrouded the land. Dagon looked upwards as countless dragons and drakes flew over him like a storm of scales. Soldiers upon the ground began charging their way to their king's side to aid him.
"Sephtis." Dagon spoke.
"Yes!" Then dragon growled in return, leaping to Dagon's side.
A green glow emitted from Dagon's Drakeagen stone as he placed his hand on Sephtis's shoulder. Mercury rose from the ground and began to enshroud their bodies in silver, shining armor.
Green waves of magical essence rose from Sephtis's body as acid poured from his markings and his eyes gave an emerald glow.
"Wipe them all from this earth." Dagon said in a cold tone.
Sephtis then raised his head, jaws open wide, and he let out a tremendous roar, the ground trembled from his power and immense spikes of mercury jutted up from the earth, decimating Mourtas's army while waves of magical essence exploded through the air like a cloud of green gas. The gas shot out in all directions, consuming everything.
Mourtas raised his arms, covering himself in a cloak of shadows in order to avoid the attack, but, unfortunately for the rest of his army, they were immediately infected. The toxic gas began to destroy their internal organs and turn their blood to acid, melting their bodies from the inside out.
A storm of blood and black acid rained down from the heavens as though the angels of god had all been struck down, their blood flowing from the clouds like rivers. The melted and unrecognizable corpses of dragons and drakes alike fell from the sky like birds dropping dead in the apocalypse.
Dagon stood beside Sephtis, the true bringer of destruction and chaos. All around him, the world seemed to fall to ruin and death, the sky painted red and black as rivers of blood flowed across the landscape. The mountainous spires of mercury became coated in crimson red, giving them a silvery-red sheen.
'What is this..?' Sephtis thought, eyes wide, as he stared at the absolute destruction around them. 'This… is hell on earth…what have I done? How do I hold this much power…?' His eyes turned to Dagon. He could sense only one thing from his Kin; rage and hate, consuming him entirely, like a virus destroying his system.
Sephtis remembered that boy who had come to him not that long ago, the boy who was kind and caring, hopeful and honest, courageous and borderline childish… that boy was gone. What stood before him now was a bloodthirsty, hatful demon of death and destruction. In one moment, countless many had died. 'What horrifying power…' Sephtis thought. 'If Dagon's pure heart has become so corrupt… then what does that mean about the Egg of Chaos?'
When the storm of blood finally subsided and the toxic gas had cleared, the shadows that had engulfed Mourtas and Zickarys faded, and the King stood from the ground, shock and horror plastered on his face.
"How… is this possible..?" Mourtas said weakly, as though speaking to himself.
Dagon's hand fell away from Sephtis as he stepped towards Mourtas, a massive blade of mercury extending from his arm and dragging across the ground.
Mourtas's wrathful eyes turned to Dagon. "Damn you… everything that I've worked for… EVERYTHING THAT I HAVE BUILT FROM RUIN! I WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO TEAR IT DOWN!"
*FWISH*
The blade flowed through the air in a flash of silver.
"Dagon, stop!" Sephtis roared.
The blade came to a sudden halt just short of Mourtas's neck, the man's expression one of horror.
'How did he move so fast..? I couldn't even see the blade move..' Mourtas thought in shock.
"What is it, Sephtis? This is what we've been working towards, is it not? To bring down this tyrant? To avenge all those that he had killed? To avenge our peoples? To free the dragons from enslavement? To avenge my father? To avenge Gena. So why, why are you stopping me from killing this detestable, grotesque demon?" Dagon spoke, his tone filled with poisonous anger and hatred.
"No. Our goal was to bring peace to this land. Your goal was to be the Dragon King, to form bonds with all the dragons, to create balance between humans and the dragonic races. Look around you. This is not that goal. You've killed both dragons and humans alike, in hoards. What happened to awakening the Egg of Chaos and bringing peace? This isn't peace"
"No." Dagon turned back to Sephtis with gleaming eyes of wrath. "It's revenge."
