By now, everyone was engrossed in the top ten ranking. There were some who were just admiring the eye candy that had made their way in while there were others that believed they had a chance of being in the top five.
Obviously, Kai done a little bit of both. That cleric in sixth was definitely cute, but not really his type. As for Noelle and the woman he had rescued... He just didn't see them that way. Noelle... had her own things to deal with, her journey was definitely nowhere near done after all. Would she even be able to function in society after all that she had gone through? Even though it was easy to miss when she was with Kai, Noelle still had a massive bias towards men. Trauma like the one she had gone through was no easy to overcome after all.
And the woman Kai had rescued... He didn't even know her name, that was reason enough.
And even though it could be considered slightly cocky, Kai did believe he was in the top five. If both Noelle and the woman he had rescued were in there, then he had to be there somewhere.
He had technically killed three high level entities after all.
"Now, as for the number five spot, it's a man who made quite the name for himself in his tutorial. In a tutorial based around completing missions for a guild, he was the only one who managed to complete a gold quest.
And not just one gold quest, he completed three.
And of course, I'm sure some of you will be able to appreciate these clips."
The angel giggled softly after she finished speaking, only leaving the large crowd confused.
Then, after the clip started, everyone knew why.
Kai, as of now, was not ugly by any means, but he wouldn't be considered hot. Still, he would be acceptable.
However, the man on screen now... He was hot, hot hot, K-pop idol mixed with Hollywood celebrity level hot.
The man looked mid twenties, thirty five maximum. He had jet black hair and a cool, composed aura to him. His eyes were dark blue and reminded Kai of a stormy sea.
He wore a cool looking black jacket and had a scabbard attached to his hip, a hilt of a sword sticking out.
The tutorial that he had been sent to was vastly different to the one Kai had been sent to.
It was a medieval city, a massive castle in the centre surrounded by countless old looking houses and walls surrounding the whole city.
The first scene it showed was the man training with the city guard and...
Managing to beat them all in one on one combat.
It was undeniable, that man's skill with the sword was on a whole other level compared to anyone Kai knew.
Failure was obviously stronger with the sword, his stats and skills giving him a large advantage. But to be fair, Kai hadn't seen Failure go all out with his swordsmanship, which would have to be an extremely high level for him to be chosen as Ethania's personal guard.
But the man on the screen was many levels lower than the city guard yet still managed to beat them, the only one he had lost to was the captain of the city guard, an older man with gray hair and a prominent beard.
Even though they were a higher level, the black haired man had managed to beat them all with pure skill and technique.
After that, the man decided to join the city guard while simultaneously completing quests for the guild. He slept maximum four hours a day yet still managed to always be at his peak performance, something Kai knew that he would never be able to do.
His missions started off with simple things like rescuing cats from trees and doing deliveries. He did missions during the day and trained with the city guard in the evening, then trained by himself at night.
As time in the tutorial went on, the quests got harder and took longer.
After some time had passed, and with a week remaining in the tutorial, the man attempted his first gold mission.
It was to transport the daughter of a very wealthy and prominent merchant in the city to a neighbouring, smaller city.
Along the way, the were ambushed by near one hundred bandits, yet the man single handedly took down seventy three of them.
That act rewarded him some money and a brand new sword, the sword being quite the weapon as it had some type of enchantment that allowed it to cut through anything easier than it should have.
The second gold mission was to hunt down a mage that was planning to do a large scale attack on the city, something to do with black magic and curses.
After two days of traversing through a horrible swamp, the man reached the mage's hideout.
After a fight that had honestly taken longer than Kai expected due to the mage having three weird items that allowed him to resurrect himself placed around the swamp, the man finally killed the mage before he could attempt his attack on the city.
When the man returned to the city, he was rewarded a medal by the king personally and gifted the jacket he now wore. Kai had no idea what the functions of it were, but if it was gifted by the king of a Subdimension...
The merchants daughter was also there, a deep blush on her face. It seemed that the man's charms worked on anyone and not just those from his own planet.
Then came the final gold mission, and it was something that was a sore topic for a certain someone in the gargantuan crowd.
It was to fight, and kill, a dragon.
Mind you, it wasn't a fully grown dragon, it was a very young one, but it was still a dragon nonetheless.
After fighting the dragon for close to three hours, something about the man's aura changed.
Instead of continuing to fight with his single blade, another sword appeared in his free hand, summoned from his soul.
The man then stood before the dragon, a blade in each hand, he took a deep breath and dashed at the beast.
The clip ended abruptly there.
A tidal wave of moans of dissapointment rang out from the crowd, to which the angel nodded in agreeance.
"I know, I know, I was enjoying it too, but what happened after that is a bit of a sensitive topic so I'm not allowed to show it."
Even though it didn't show what happened in the fight, Kai already knew the result.
After all, the angel had stated that the man had completed three gold missions.
"As for his reward, he will receive a ten percent boost to his point total, a swordsman based item and a say in which bidder wins him."
A round of applause, much louder than any previously, rang out. Even though he only had his highlights from the tutorial shown, the man had already developed a fan club.
And that final reward was something different, a choice in which bidder won? Does that mean that everyone present didn't have a say? They just had to go with whoever bid the most?
"Now, onto fourth place. This person is a little special as they are an enigma of sorts, you'll see what I mean in the following clips."
The screen changed once more and became a dense forest, the only difference between this one and the Forest of Ethania was the fact that there was light slipping through the tree tops.
The screen focused on some terrifying manticore looking creature, each body part belonged to a different animal.
At first, everyone thought that the person in fourth place had a transformation type ability.
At least, they did until an arrow shot straight through the neck of the beast, killing it instantly.
All the clips that followed were the same. Each contained a horrifying beast that the majority of people present would never be able to face, yet each beast was killed by a single arrow.
And there was a recurring theme in all of the clips that were shown.
The person in fourth place was not shown on camera, not even once. All that was shown was various high level creatures getting killed by a single arrow.
There was one beast that took two arrows to kill, but it still died before it even had the chance to fight back.
"What a fine display of power, and to not get caught by our various cameras even once. There wouldn't be many that would be able to do that.
As for their reward, they will receive a ten percent boost to their point total, an enchanted quiver and a one time use arrow with an enchantment of their choosing."
More rounds of applause as the angel smiled in approval.
"Now, onto third place, and... huh?"
Despite her confusion, the angel still displayed the participant in third place. And much like the participant in fourth place, third place was also not shown on camera.
Only it was for a very different reason this time.
The camera was constantly obscured by a thick, black smoke. Even when the angel switched camera, they were always obscured by that same smoke.
"My apologies, it seems that we are having some... technical difficulties with third place."
Even though everyone else was confused and simply shrugged it off, Kai's heart stopped.
He knew that smoke.
How could he not, considering that he had gotten lost inside it once.
What the actual fuck? How the hell did Creepy get third place? How does that even make any sense, what the hell did he do to deserve third place? It makes no sense!
Somehow, the man who had attacked Kai, Noelle and Umbra along with Beefcake at the very start of the tutorial had gotten third place.
But how was the question. Sadly, there was no answer.
"Well, even though there's no clips, third place still needs a reward. As their reward, they will receive a ten percent boost to their point total and..."
The Host hesitated, presumably because they had no idea what to give to someone who they had no idea what they could do.
"And a ten percent discount on the first three items they buy in the store."
A confused round of applause echoed in the gargantuan white room, but the angel simply composed herself and put back on her signature breathtaking smile.
"Moving on, it's time for second place!"
