Something to hold on to

Just as Benjamin was about to strike her, Jayden intervened.

Benjamin was frightened by Jayden's rageful gaze and fierce growl, which made him feel as if there was a fire burning in his eyes. Jayden's words, "How dare you!", conveyed his anger and disapproval.

At first, Ivy tried to make Jayden go but when she heard Benjamin's words she stepped back behind Jayden.

"How dare you? She's my girl and I can do whatever I want!" Benjamin clenched his fists.

"Just because she's your girl, it doesn't mean she's your property! I don't want to pick fights with you! But you keep messing up! You keep pissing me off! Leave her alone!" Jayden gritted his teeth.

Benjamin forcefully pushed him away, "Are you threatening me?"

"Hey! Easy!" Jayden made an effort to keep his composure despite feeling a surge of fury.

Even though he wanted to bury him alive in the ground but he controlled his anger, he knew if he left the leash of his inner monster, he'd lose it completely and there will be a lot of bloodshed.

Benjamin taunted Jayden, "Why? Are you afraid? You mama's boy?". Despite being pushed, Jayden managed to control his anger until Benjamin crossed a line and pulled Ivy by her hair.

"Let go!" She cried for help.

"She said let her go!" Jayden punched him hard enough to break his jaw and growled so loud everyone around could see his fangs and glowing eyes.

Benjamin fell unconscious right on the spot, while Ivy covered her mouth as her eyes widened, Henry was standing there like he just discovered something really cool.

And Emric was scratching his head he thought "How the hell are we going to fix it?"

Benjamin couldn't even get to notice Jayden's eyes or jaws or the change in his accent, because the second he lost it, Benjamin was on the ground.

Jayden was still dealing with his transformation, Emric approached him and held him with both of his shoulders "Who's the person you love the most?" He asked.

At first, Jayden stared at him, with anger, thinking is it the right time for this question, but when Emric repeated his question, Jayden had no choice but to answer him.

"Mom!" Jayden grunted with pain while breathing heavily.

"Remember her face… Remember the moment you felt she loves you so much" He waved his hands to tell both Ivy and Henry to stay back.

Jayden got lost in a memory, it was Jayden's birthday, he was 8 and there were kids everywhere and their families. He got lost in the crowd and couldn't find his mom.

He looked around and started panicking, just then a hand grabbed him with his shoulder and pulled him. It was his mom, he was shaking and crying.

"That's alright my precious boy!" She hugged him.

"I asked her what happens if she lost me in a crowd filled with children like me, or older people. She hugged me tightly and said My little boy Jade! No matter how much crowd I am surrounded by, I will always find you! And when I asked how will I find you?

She gave me a toy! There was a strange kind of tune in it! She told me to play that tune whenever I have lost her!" He turned back to normal.

That moment Emric realized how easy Jayden is to be reached. He's somewhat of a neglected kid by his father, and hungry for love, that's why he's been snatching it from those who he bullied.

But he learned his lesson and is now a much better person, "That memory you recalled… Hold onto that! Hold on to that toy she gave you! Whenever you feel lost, you know how to find your way back." Emric whispered.

Jayden nodded, now they needed to take Benjamin to a healer, if they take him to the hospital there was a big chance this would go into the police's hands.

So they took him to Jinx, Jinx was not happy to have some common people among them, but she agreed to help.

Henry and Ivy also came with them. They both were waiting for Jayden to explain what happened, they were definitely not afraid of Jayden, seeing how quickly he got control.

After Benjamin was healed Jinx made him sleep for hours to give them enough time to carry him back to his home, Emric was the one who was going to take him to his home.

Meanwhile, Jayden explained what he is, Ivy and Henry were looking at him without blinking and it was a jaw-dropping moment for them.

"I am sorry I'm confused! So how did that happen?" Ivy placed both her elbows on her knees and palms under her chin.

"Do you remember that evening when we were at that abandoned park for the last time?" Jayden grinned when Ivy's eyes widened.

"What?" She covered her mouth again "And you've been like that with us since then?" If she'd opened her eyes wider her eyeballs could have fallen out.

Jayden cleared his throat and pulled his collar.

"So it means Rose is like you too?" She eased her facial expressions "What else could explain her raising back from the dead? I am pretty sure that corpse under her grave is a cover-up!"

Jayden tossed his head, Henry placed his hand on his shoulder.

"She's not a werewolf but you are right! That dead body really is… a cover-up" Jayden pursed his mou.

"What is she then? A vampire? Wait was that girl who hypnotized me is she Rose?" Henry tried to get it through his head. He was so confused.

"She did what?" Ivy's eyes widened again.

All three of them shared secrets with each other that night, and for the first time, Henry stayed up so late.

For the first time, he had a circle of friends which wasn't ordinary at all.

Somehow that day too came to pass, and in the morning when Benjamin woke up, he woke up with his punches in the air "Come one you loser!" He yelled when his roommate Monty rubbed his eyes, as he wasn't up yet.

Benjamin eased up and licked his lips with nervousness, he rushed to the bathroom.

All he remembered was that Jayden gave him a good punch straight to his jaw but what happened afterward? He had no idea.

While others were adapting to new surroundings and making new acquaintances, one girl was consumed by hatred to the point where she didn't even notice that she had lost all her friends. Astonishingly, it didn't faze her in the least.
