01 12 - There Was Still Rain Even When the Sun Shined

"Oh right, I should wear the armor now."

Once I put it on, it had a black under clothing, there was a metal white piece on mt chest that went down to my stomach, a shoulder guard on my left shoulder, then both my wrist had a white protector. Then going lower, the hip and front had protection, same with all around mt calve and ankles. Even though it would feel heavy, it only felt like I was wearing a sweater, the thick sweater kind. After admiring it, I decided to look at the stats again before I noticed something that wasn't there before.

"Once worn, the forest will hate the wearer. Even if armor is taken off, the forest spirits and beasts will hate you for wearing their precious sky fairies sacred wings.. WHAT?!"

I shouted after reading it out loud. I ran back to the seller, not caring about the people who stared at me after I shouted, when I got back, there was no one there.

"Jueng was right! I mean, other than that, it's still pretty good for a cheap armor..."

I was already experiencing the 5 stages of grief. Unless I stay here and wait for that man to log back in, I have no choice but to keep it. Either way it said nature would hate me even if I didn't have it anymore.

After a moment of just sitting down to the side in complete despair, I stood up suddenly, not caring about other's getting surprised by me.

"it doesn't matter now, I have maybe an hour left before I have to leave for work, I should probably work on my quest."

Truth be told, with all that happened, I completely forgot about the fact that I had a legendary skill. It's been a week but so much has been happening. It started off as good luck, and now it's just a big mess. I began to walk back towards the middle of the city as I opened my quest window.

.

I stared at it while occasionally looking up to see where I was going.

"How am I supposed to know where to look? the house I found before is gone... Maybe the statue?"

I mumbled to myself, coming back to the statue, staring at it for a moment in confusion. I was looking around earlier, but there's nothing wrong with looking at it for a second time..

Okay yeah there's nothing. my head was hurting and I took a step back, before I realized a large circle on the ground. It looked like a compass, there were North, South, East, and west markings on the ground. Taking another step forward to see the full statue, I noticed the hand pointed outwards, but with the shadow, how was I supposed to know which way to go?

I circled around it, this time with the full view of the statue, then I noticed what I didn't see from before. There was a sun marking on the shoulder of the statue, then what seems to be glass in the middle of the sun.

"Maybe if the sun hit's it perfectly, something will happen?"

I mumbled to myself, looking up at the sky, the sun would need to be in the east for it to work, but now it was right over my head. I had to do it on sunrise to see what would happen. I let out a small groan, but from tasting the money I earned from the caves, I had to do it.

After that whole analysis of the statue, I checked the time again and I had 20 mins to get ready then get on the bus if I wanted to reach work in time. If only I lived closer to my work.

I quickly logged off and started getting ready for work before I heard a knock on my room door.

"Hey Gihyuk, I need you down in the living room."

I was confused, but I didn't have time to waste.

"Lisa I have work, I have to get going."

She was quiet for a moment before speaking again.

"It's the police, just tell them and let's see what happens."

I stood there in surprise, the police? Why were they- oh, the topic came back. They were probably here since we witnessed it too.

I walked downstairs going to the living room, Lisa, eternalgreen, and Inkcorpse, though I should probably say they're real name.

eternalgreen being Da-Hee and Inkcorpse is Kwan. The officers were fast to notice I was there as I took a bow but quickly said what I needed to do.

"I have to go to work, would it work better if it was later?"

I asked as one of the officers nodded and walked up to me.

"My name is Sang Yoo, detective inspector, I understand so please come to xxx Department."

I nodded as I shared a bow to the other male before heading out, I did nothing wrong, but for some reason being with the police is pretty nerve wracking. I looked back to see the detective and his partner talk to the other three before I walked out of the house and got on the bus. Luckily enough to get on the bus on the right time.

I got to work pretty fast, and since it was the weekends, Han Kyun worked in the morning. It felt like it's been a while since I've seen him.

"Hey, I'm here."

I waved before heading to the back to get changed. kyun following along to get changed too.

"Hyung it feels like forever since we talked."

I let out a laugh and nodded.

"A lot of stuff has happened, and you have finals so it's understandable."

I said with a small yawn as he replied.

"Yeah, especially the news. I wanted to play with you but with what happened, most kids can't play because of their parents, and I'm one of them."

He grumbled clearly disappointed before I just ruffled his head.

"Don't worry about it, once you can play I'll go with you, I'm levelling up you know? I'm out of the starter town."

I grinned cheekily before Kyun just looked at me with the look you give to a child who's showing you something and you don't want to be rude yet you don't care much.

"Wow hyung, took you a week, I'm proud of you"

I flinched slightly embarrassed before we laughed a bit. Though our moment stopped since I heard a costumer come in. I headed out of the break room and to the cash register to wait for them to finish shopping.

After a bit, Kyun finished changing and waved goodbye to me as I waved goodbye back. The rest of the evening was quiet and calm, then when it was dark, a Hooded man came in, and at first looked around before walking up to me, and stared right into my face.

Was I about to be mugged? He had brown hair and black eyes. I couldn't see it clearly but it could for sure remember how he looked. He was pretty tall too.

"I won't ask again, give me the legendary skill."

I blinked confused at what this boy is talking about, before I remembered a little thing- was this the same guy who attacked me in game?

"I- WHY ARE YOU HERE!?"

I shouted as he pulled his hood down, showing his face more, he had a bit of a mullet too.

"What is it you want? Money? I can give it to you."

My eyes shined a little when he said money, but I need a steady income, and plus, I was actually having fun in the game, aside from the slightly traumatic moment-

I had to think, he knew I worked here and I didn't really want to die, so how could I per sway this kid to let me keep it, I didn't even know if it would be possible to give it to him.

"Well, the thing is, the skill is bound to me, if I leave the gave, that skill will never be found again."

I spoke as he seemed to get furious and I quickly moved back in case of whatever might happen, but then he seemed to just give up.

"I've been looking for that skill..."

He grumbled as his eyes looked down. He was a spoiled brat, but I kind of felt bad.

"How about.. I let you see it? As long as you don't try to kill me anymore."

I looked at him, I mean I wasn't going to just over look the fact he stalked me, but he still seemed pretty nice, kind of. He looked up at me before moving pretty close.

"I don't need your pity, I'll figure out a way to get that skill from you, just wait and see."

He grumbled before moving back and heading out. I just stood there, confused to the brim, why was this guy so obsessed over the skill? I mean it's a legendary skill, it's understandable, but to the point of finding me in real life? He had to be some spoiled rich kid. Even though he didn't look that much younger from me.

I let out a small sigh. There was so many things happening, I felt like I was in a webtoon, more scary than exciting though.

After that small interaction, it was time for me to close up the convenient store. I closed up the doors and turned off the light then went to the back to change. Going out through the back door and looked at the time, it was 10pm.

"The police department would probably still be open right? I don't want them thinking I'm running away from an investigation."

I rubbed the back of my head, I really wanted to go sleep now, but I didn't have a choice really. I got on the bus and headed off to the xxx department.

It was close to downtown Seoul, there were many people still up and about care free of the world. I just quietly walked towards the police station. Once I was there, I told them why I was there.

"I was told to come here by Detective Inspector Sang Yoo? I had work so I could only come now."

The people at the front desk looked at me before asking me to sit at the side, and so I did, and I waited patiently. After a while, The detective came through the door with a man drunk in his arms.

"I was on the way back and saw this guy bothering people, you guys deal with him."

He seemed tired, and when he saw me he bowed, and so did I.

"Sorry to make you wait, let's go to my desk."

I nodded and followed along, walking behind him to the office, other detectives working there as I sat down on the chair across the table of the other man.

"Alright, I think you know why I asked you to come here, you were one of the witnesses on the player SweetEater, could you tell me about the whole event that happened before her sudden log out?"

I was slightly caught off guard, but again if you were a police you'd want to get information right away. I gulped and put down my bag that had my work clothes and other things as I sat straight.

"Well, I think others would have said the same thing about her suddenly attacking."

I looked at him and he nodded along.

"But she seemed like she wasn't in control, like the machine was controlling her character instead."

The feeling for even heavier as I could see the detective getting more serious, I didn't want to admit it but, my suspicions where high.

"If it was a virus it would affect a lot of people, but I think, it could be murder."

To be continued...
