Under the hook-like moonlight, in the hazy glow, Kiana lay on a large tree branch, her eyes fixed on the phone in her hand.
Anyone familiar with the screen would recognize it as the interface of the Valkyrie from the game "Honkai." Aside from the basic character, the Domain Armor White Lotus was radiating colorful light, while the other characters were dim and unlit, indicating that Kiana had yet to unlock them.
"So I'm level one now? Everything starts over, huh?"
Kiana muttered dejectedly. She had poured quite a bit of money into that account, unlocking all the characters, and had even gathered all the endgame gear; she was just missing the upgrade materials.
But now, everything had returned to square one, and this undoubtedly hit Kiana's confidence hard.
Reluctantly, she tapped on the Domain Armor White Lotus icon, revealing its attributes.
Health: 300, Attack: 75, Defense: 36, Experience: 0.
"...The stats don't seem right."
Kiana recalled the initial attributes from her previous gameplay and thought they were different. Were they higher or lower? She had no idea, as she hadn't spent much effort on the Domain Armor previously.
"Is the weapon also a starting one? Seriously, can't they give me a break?"
Kiana pulled out a pair of handguns from her waist and examined the ugly patterns on them. As a starting weapon, they looked incredibly terrible.
"I wonder if it's like in the game with unlimited ammo? Might as well try it!"
With that thought, Kiana aimed the handguns toward the sea and fired off a hundred rounds. The sound of gunfire startled the birds and animals into a frenzy, creating quite a spectacle.
"Seems like this is the same as the game; at least that bastard has some conscience!"
Boom!!!
Lightning struck Kiana once again.
"Yiya! Wuwuwu waaaah!"
Kiana let out a series of incomprehensible screams, her hair standing on end, resembling a frizzy little cat as she fell pitifully from the tree.
"Um... Lady, are you still up so late? Work must be hard!"
Kiana quickly smiled up at the sky, revealing her most sincere expression. The dark clouds that had gathered seemed to slowly dissipate.
Just wait, one day, I'll tear you apart!
Kiana silently cursed in her heart. However, just as she thought the clouds were dispersing, they gathered again, rumbling ominously, and a lightning bolt even thicker than before struck down.
"Yiya!"
Kiana screamed again, collapsing on the ground, uncertain if she was alive or dead, teaching us once again the life lesson: don't tempt fate.
Half an hour later, Kiana finally regained consciousness, and the wiser her tearfully climbed back up the tree, pulling out her phone to continue checking the interface.
She had to admit that the quality of this phone was outstanding; it had withstood several hits from Besta and hadn't broken. She wondered if Besta had done something to it.
Having checked the weapons, the other major selling point of "Honkai"—the Stigmata—was essential, after all, those sexy ladies carried the mission of saving the world.
Kiana clicked on the Stigmata section, and unsurprisingly, her back was empty—she didn't have a single Stigmata.
Well, without good weapons or Stigmata, everything would have to rely on her own hands to fight, Kiana thought gloomily.
She exited the Valkyrie interface and arrived at the main interface. Unlike before, the friends icon was greyed out. Well, it made sense; who in the world of "One Piece" would play "Honkai"? Kiana wasn't surprised at all and casually clicked on the skills interface.
Since she had only unlocked the Domain Armor White Lotus, naturally, only that was lit up in the skill bar. Without much thought, Kiana clicked on it.
Then, the skills of the Domain Armor White Lotus flooded the phone screen: basic attack, branching attack, ultimate, and passives all appeared before Kiana's eyes.
In the upper right corner, the required skill points for learning skills were full—twenty points.
"Let's learn some skills and slowly get stronger. One day, I'll become a man again."
Kiana said with determination, but soon, the harsh reality gave her a wake-up call.
"Gold? Damn, I have to pay in gold?"
Kiana stared dumbfounded at the gold needed to learn skills displayed on the interface, instantly feeling speechless. As a seasoned player, Kiana knew that learning skills required gold, and as skill levels increased, the required amount also grew larger—often reaching tens of thousands of gold later on. Kiana couldn't help but remember the times she'd specifically spent money to buy gold.
She had hoped the goddess would kindly remove the requirement for gold, but the world was cruel, and humanity was sinister.
"...Where the hell am I supposed to get gold?"
Kiana wore a face devoid of hope. Well, thinking about it, maybe just becoming a woman was easier? She slowly imagined a handsome man, gently caressing his own face and gazing deeply into his own eyes.
"Wuwu!"
A shiver ran down her spine, and Kiana quickly shook her head, dismissing those thoughts.
"No way, I definitely want to be a man; that's too disgusting."
Kiana soon perked up again, continuing to check her phone. Since there was an option for gold, as a pay-to-win game, crystals were also essential—often referred to as diamonds.
And to grow quickly in the "Honkai" game, one needed to draw character and equipment cards, and crystals were vital for that.
Kiana opened the recharge interface, and sure enough, there were crystals; Besta hadn't removed that element.
However, just one glance left Kiana in despair. While it was true that she could recharge, the currency used in this pirate world was called "Belly," which was similar to what Kiana had previously guessed. But what was with that outrageous amount? Thirty million Belly for two hundred crystals? Knowing that it took two hundred eighty crystals to draw a character, she was still eighty crystals short.
"Is it really that outrageous?"
Kiana felt she was about to cry. What was she supposed to do with such arduous conditions? I'm so desperate!
Kiana silently tucked her phone back into her chest, recalling a saying she often heard: life is like a **; since you can't resist, you might as well lie down and enjoy it.
Just as Kiana was about to give up on turning back into a man, her phone in her chest vibrated, and her chest shook as if it were tofu trembling.
"Don't you go too far; thinking about ** is enough, and now you've turned into **—what does that mean?"
Kiana angrily pulled out her phone to see what was going on.
The moment she pulled out her phone, a virtual projection appeared above the screen.
"Captain, are you giving up so soon?"
A tiny figure stood on the screen, with green hair tied in two cute buns and a pink face that was quite adorable.
Upon seeing this figure, Kiana was shocked and speechless.
"...Ai, Ai-chan?"
