A Friendly Duel

It's nearly been a month and a half since the day God had reincarnated Alex and Touya into the another world.

Touya had became a purple ranking adventurer taking up on the quest to travel to the royal capital where on the way he saved Duke's daughter Sue and helped duchess Ellen recover her eyesight.

It's been two weeks since that day and Touya could now be seen teaching Shogi to the Duke while delivering the treats to the Duke's household.

Meanwhile at Sandora, our protagonist had also applied for adventurers guild and also reached purple rank.

He had also became more familiar with Sandora and the people of rebel camp and they both reached a friendly status in their relationship.

Alex have been diligently practicing magic taught by Lexi who started to have doubts about her being prodigy in magic looking at Alex's fast growth.

Alex has reached a level of being called as proficient in magic but not skilled to the point where he can be considered a veteran according to Lexi who has a personal scale for evaluating one's skill based on their control:

Beginner, Proficient, Veteran and Master

Where she stood at the Master Level herself, well that's to be expected since she has a high talent in magic and has been practicing all her life and now only at the mere age of 17 which is two years older than Alex she can be considered to be one of the best mage in the whole Sandora Kingdom.

Though being proficient wasn't anything to pay attention to someone for Lexi becoming proficient from a complete beginner in the matter of a month was something she couldn't believe at all.

If Lexi were to evaluate Touya in her scale she would give him the rank of proficient even at his strongest moments if he is in his mortal form.

Touya though can be considered strong but what he relies more on is his large magic reserves, enhanced powers god had granted him and aptitude for all magic.

In terms of skills and control Touya hadn't ever payed much attention to and never practiced seriously wasting a lot of his potential where his skills also grows passively as he utilises more magic.

Coming back to the our protagonist, Alex who was happy about getting himself the grimore spell couldn't help but grimace seeing how frustrating the spell truly was.

Though grimore contains the knowledge about all spells in existence which should be expected to be overpowered also had some flaws in it.

First of all there is no search or assistant type feature attached to it because of which you have to learn the spells in an alphabetical order which though contains a lot of powerful spells but most of them were useless.

Alex had turned thousands of pages over the time period of two months and till now he still hasn't reached the second alphabet.

Because of this he had currently stopped the use of grimore and focuses more on his skills and practicing the useful spells that were mentioned in the whole novel like gravity, enchant, Accel, boost, storage, gate etc. (enchant can't work on things that has no physical manifestation like the grimore)

Because of his handsome face and easy to go personality Alex had became friends with many of the rebel camp and has grown closer to them.

Currently out protagonist was about to fight against his beautiful teacher in a friendly duel all about the skills where the one would declared the winner if the opponent has given up, is unconscious or has been thrown out of the boundary.

Audience cheered for both as Alex and Lexi stood on opposite sides of the battlefield, ready to engage in a friendly match of magical combat. Lexi had her arms crossed, a confident smirk on her face, while Alex was grinning with excitement.

"You ready to lose, Teacher Lexi?" Alex teased, twirling his staff in his hand.

"Ha! As if, My dear student. I'm going to wipe the floor with you," Lexi shot back with a haughty smirk forming on her face.

Alex chuckled. "We'll see about that. But just so you know, I won't go easy on you."

"I wouldn't expect anything less, from my student" Lexi replied, a mischievous glint in her eye.

Without another word, they both began to chant, their voices rising in unison as they summoned their elemental spells.

Come forth, Fire! Purgatorial Sphere of Flames: [Fireball]

Gather forth, Water! Swirling Shield: [Aqua Shell]

Lexi's fire spell burst forth first, a ball of flames hurtling towards Alex, who responded with a water spell creating a shield around him that doused the flames instantly.

"Nice try, Teacher" Alex called out, grinning. "But I'm not that easy to beat."

Lexi scowled, her eyes narrowing as she summoned another fire spell, this one bigger and more powerful than the last.

Blaze, o Fire! Blazing Penetration:[Burning Lance]

Come forth, Earth! Barrier of the Mother Soil: [Earthwall]

Alex countered with an earth spell, creating a wall made up of sand that deflected the flames harmlessly away.

"You'll have to do better than that, Teacher~" Alex taunted, wagging his finger at Lexi playfully.

Come forth, Wind! Sorcerous Stabbing Squall: [Air Impact]

Lexi responded with a fierce wind spell that sent Alex stumbling backwards, but he quickly regained his footing and retaliated with a dark spell that sent tendrils of shadow snaking towards Lexi.

Entwine O Darkness! Darkness Unleashed: [Shadow Bind]

Rise thus, Fire! Flaming Defenses: [Fire Wall]

She countered with a dazzling display of fire magic, defending her from Alex's magic.

Gather forth, Water! Whirlpool Surge: [Aqua Vortex]

Next Alex focused his magical energies and chanted a complex incantation, summoning a swirling vortex of water that buffeted Lexi with its force.

"Arise, O flames of the inferno! Unleash your fury and surround me! Burning Fortress: [Fire Pillar]"

She responded with a spell of her own, summoning a blazing pillar of fire that towered above them both, but Alex was ready for it.

Rage forth, Lightning and Wind! A Dazzling Cyclone: [Plasma Storm]

He invoked a plasma storm, a wind Elemental spell creating a dazzling cyclone that sucked in the flames and dispersed them harmlessly.

The battle raged on, with both Alex and Lexi summoning spell after spell, their magic crackling in the air as they traded blows.

"Surge forth, Flames! Burning Tide: [Inferno Wave]"

Swirl forth, Wind! Blustering Gust: [Wind Wave]

Alex unleashed an inferno of fire that raged across the battlefield, but Lexi countered with a gust of wind that dispersed the flames.

Come forth flame, Crimson Javelin of Flames: [Fire Spear]

Entwine thus, Ice! Frozen Curse: [Icebind]

She followed up with a fire spell of her own, but Alex countered with a frozen curse, binding her flames with icy tendrils.

As the battle wore on, it became clear that both combatants were evenly matched. Alex had the advantage of having more elemental spells at his disposal, but Lexi was quick on her feet, using her limited range of spells to great effect.

Shimmer forth, light! Dazzling Brilliance: [Flash]

The battled entered it's final moment when Alex uses a light spell which caused Lexi to instinctively close her eyes and Alex made his way towards Lexi at an incredibly fast speed while chanting the spell to cease his victory.

Strike true, Lightning! Hundredspear Thunderclap: [Lightning Javelin]

As Alex invoked the spell a lightning javelin manifested in his hands as he made pounced at Lexi.

[Air Impact]

Just as Alex was about to impale Lexi with his javelin as his movements seemed, Lexi quickly casted another wind spell which threw the Alex who was about to pounce on her out of the ring and the duel ended with Lexi being declared as the winner causing the audience who was watching the duel to erupt in cheers.
